A Nintendo Direct presentation is reportedly planned for September.

Reports of a Nintendo Direct have circulated for weeks. Now, Switch Force has suggested that a presentation will be held in September.

Sources have told VGC that a Nintendo Direct presentation is in fact planned for mid-September. It's also worth noting that aside from 2024, a Nintendo Direct has been held virtually every September since the Nintendo Direct presentations began.

Notably, if the reported September 12 date is accurate, it would be 1 day before the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros.

While the contents of the presentation are currently unknown, it's likely that this Nintendo Direct will finally reveal the announcement of Metroid Prime 4 Beyond's release date. The game, which is still officially planned for this year, was recently rated by the ESRB.

Yep. I think people worry about these way too much. The big, usual September Direct pre-TGS was always planned, and timed perfectly to coincide with a segment on Mario 40th Anniversary. September Directs in my experience are usually the best of the year, highlighting major holiday titles, and one or two major announcements for the following year. September 2018 was particularly memorable, Luigi's Mansion 3 reveal, Isabelle reveal for Smash & teaser for Animal Crossing New Horizons.

Being this is the launch year of the new console, expect this one to be memorable. We haven't had a first-party Direct since April 2nd, so no doubt some decent first-party bombs are going to drop. They won't hold another one til February/March next year, and they want as many people as possible to have a reason to buy the system.

No more one single game please.
There'll be that too, I am sure. Metroid Direct would make sense. But it won't replace the standard big first-party September Direct they've done every single year in modern times except 2020 (COVID). Even that year, they threw us a decent bone and did the big Mario 35th, which had like 4-5 announcements in it.

and what is the track record of Switch Force ?
Switch Force leaked the last Indie World and others Nintendo events.
To be clear, he is not an insider. NateDrake is an actual leaker. NashWeedle is an actual leaker. Both can break/ have broken actual verifiable news on several occasions. Switchforce is a well-spoken, decent Youtuber who has a lot of knowledge on industry things and can make some very solid/ decent guesses. If he has transitioned into being a leaker, this would be news. But he would have needed to somehow gain one or more inside sources. The IndieWorld "leak" could have literally just been he saw something intriguing from one of the participating developers on social media and was fortunate that no one else picked up on it.

Should also point out that there is usually an Indie World in August, so it's a very easy guess to make. Nearly as easy of a guess as a mid-September Direct.

My predictions for first party:

MP4 and Hyrule Warriors release dates of course.

Then we'll have some Mario 40th anniversary stuff. My prediction would be a smaller type anniversary release (maybe a 3D All-Stars Switch 2 version which adds Galaxy 2?) as well as first looks at the new Mario Movie releasing next year and an all new Mario 3D platformer which has an earlier release date than expected (Q2 2026 to coincide with the movie?)

Teaser for another "once per gen" type franchise game. With Sakurai tied up on Air Riders right now, I think they will tease Animal Crossing (and bring the out the original to NSO Gamecube in the meantime)

MonolithSoft next game revealed, new IP teaser for 2026 sometime.

Here's my wishlist:
Bring back Mario 35 (as Mario 40, of course)
Metroid Prime 4 release date
Mario Maker 3 announcement

That's honestly all I want.
