Installing games is great, optional installing should be required for all games.Forced installs should not. Yes it improves game performance, but sometimes I just want to play a game without having to wait for such a thing or I have filled my hard drive and don't want to delete things just to play it.
Are you seriously telling me you're going to buy a PS4 and not leave it connected to the internet? All is fake outrage is so obvious. PS4 has the same always on/always connected capabilities.....but you're not going to use it. Sure.
For posts like this, not specifically to just you fillup.
I used to serve, and I have friends currently serving a tour on-board a ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. To unwind, relax, have fun, people play video games. Tell me how useful will always on/always connected be to them? How playable will a system be, the fears presented here, when they have no ability to connect to XBLA or PSN/SEN at all? How fake will outrage be if I'm called back into service and I can't play the games I want to be because Microsoft demands a connection?
What about my friend who lives only 10km away from the headquarters of Microsoft, yet has no internet at his house because such services were never installed in the specific area he lives? How fake is that outrage at the fears this thread is presenting? He was quite mad he couldn't play the Catwoman missions in Arkham City without having to take his entire system over to another friend's house, so why wouldn't he be outraged at what this is all about? Sure you can be utterly dismissive about him and his problems, but even though living within biking distance of where they are creating the software for the next system, he's not going to be able to play it if again, the fears of this thread are valid.
Why is it such an outrage to expect periods of time where our internet goes down or Microsoft's server's go down. It's happened to all of us before. Again to the fears of this thread, will you honestly be okay if you buy a brand new game and can't play it because of an outage? How fun do you think Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 was for people during the PSN outage?
How exciting and interesting would it be for those who actually do replay games in the future when XBLA and PSN/SEN go down? I have my Playstation 1 plugged in right now because I needed to use a Guncon. How fake would my outrage be if after years of tracking down Elemental Gearbolt, that I couldn't play it because my system is waiting for "authentication"? I don't want that now with a present game, much less one that just happens to be old.
What if a kid who doesn't read such websites, and again the fears are true, takes his favourite brand new game he just bought on disc, and it won't work on his friend's system? That kid won't like it, even if some gamers never share their games and it doesn't matter to them.
I don't care if we are talking about the a Xbox, a Playstation, a Wii U, a Phantom, or a brand new amazing for everything it can do Dreamcast 2, it's the core issues and fears people have that is the concern and deciding factor over whether or not I buy a console.
Yes I have my PS3 and Wii U and Xbox 360 connected right now and they can use internet service whenever I want. It's great when I have that option, but it's best that I don't have to connect to a service or when EA's servers go down or the Ethernet cable is unplugged on accident, I can still bloody play my games and that is quite important to me.
If you are always connected, have no fears of ever losing connection, and this will not affect you at all that is great. People just shouldn't be so utterly dismissive to those who will be if again, the fears are true.
