VGX 'Most Anticipated 2014 Game' nominees

Why shouldn't it be on the list? Is it not "AAA" enough to you?

So explain to me what makes Watch Dogs, Titanfall and Borderlands 3 Destiny good choices?

Don't be naive. No one is saying South Park won't be a good game, but come on. Do you really think the core gaming crowd is going to consider that the most anticipated game of 2014? If you do, you're clueless and out of touch with the pulse of the gaming community.

I don't understand the hype behind the South Park game at all

Apparently there is none judging by the shameful reactions in this thread and the one we had before about this poll.

What's even funnier are some of the choices people bring out that should be here in place of South Park like Infamous or Dragon Age.

I don't give two fucks what the gaming community thinks when they're likely going to vote for whatever shooter the media and PR people tell them is the hot new thing. My problem is with the so called "gamers" who think it shouldn't even be nominated, and at the same time no reason has been given as to why it shouldn't. Although I already know the answer why, but no one will dare say it.

None of the above? Maybe South Park or Destiny, but I don't really like the actual game part of Obsidian games and Destiny seems to be more centered around the loot component than the encounter design, although I still have faith in Bungie and I guess the loot is probably more suitable for early demonstration purposes.

Donkey Kong, Bayonetta 2, some of the kickstarter RPGs, and L4D3 would probably be my picks.

Edit: Totally forgot about DS2. I would also put that on there.

Not everyone likes or is excited for the same games you are dude, come on. You're fine shitting on every game announced, or things others are looking forward to, but if people are disinterested or don't care for a game you like, then that's fighting words.

It just seems like when the shoe is on the other foot, you have a hard time dealing with others' opinions.

I don't just mean in this thread though. This isn't the first time I've seen the game mentioned alongside the upcoming giants in console videogames.

Like it just looks like a turn based RPG based on the franchise with tons of fanservice.

Amazing game for fans of the show? Sure. Next big release in AAA videogaming? Why? The developer?

I'm not looking forward to any of those games.

I'm somewhat interested in Destiny and Titanfall for the multiplayer/online connectivity elements. But I wouldn't say I'm looking forward to either game. I just expect that they should be fun with friends when they are out

Witcher 3 will be fun too but it's not something I'd buy at release.

Who picked this list? This definitely isn't reflected by the consumer level of interest. Pre-orders and the social media doesn't look like this list ._.

The Division, Halo, Uncharted, inFamous, maybe The Order, and a few others should have easily replaced some of these games.

Relaxu my fellow gaffer, people will have opinions and the term "gamer" is becoming archaic and faulty in the ways it is used. People will be people and they will consume the digital media they so desire.

None of those games can crash GAF's servers like Smash 4. Also, the Destiny and Titanfall images look like they're from the same game, lol. (Titanfall does look good, though)

It is a crime that I can't vote for Dark Souls II. I thought the fact that it was probably one of the most exciting VGA reveals last year would have secured it a spot.

Old, but if it gets more people to vote for South Park then I'm ok with it.

Titanfall? Really?

Destiny? Really?

I could say the same thing for almost every game on that list.

Genuinely curious, what are you most anticipated games of 2014?

Where's Persona 5?

Oh, they only have games on that list which they have on the show.

It hasn't even been officially announced for the west yet. Calm down.

It is odd that Smash isn't on there, but I doubt most of their audience owns a Wii U. Good for the Witcher being on there though. Didn't know it was that popular outside of PC owners.

Not really digging their choices. I'm interested in Watch Dogs, for sure, and I want to try Witcher 3, but by no means are those my most anticipated titles.

Also, no Infamous, and no Dark Souls 2 on that list. Shame.

Lol @ the south park defense force in here. Maybe I'm just being too pessimistic with it but they've given me one delay too many for a game that has a neat idea but will get samey really quick. I was excited about a year ago when I thought the game was only a few short months away.

Edit: Derrick coming in hot in here. I'll tell you why South Park shouldn't be on the list and it isn't because "it's not AAA enough for me." It got pushed back a full year which isn't the worst thing in the world but this push happened to push it to a point were it would be releasing on last gen systems. The gameplay is a paper mario rip-off and, while fun, can become extremely boring without proper tuning or an interesting premise to keep me going. I doubt they have the tuning since paper mario and the mario/luigi games haven't even gotten the tuning right and, in the end, this is just south park, I'm not coming for the riveting story and it can easily fall into the trap of just feeling like an episode that has over stayed its welcome. With that said, yes I would put infamous in its spot in a heartbeat. At least that is coming from a studio and franchise that has never disappointed and don't worry, I feel that Destiny and Titanfall should not be on the list either.

Real winner is Persona 5 but jp releases don't count.

Well you must care a little bit since you're posting in a gaming community forum.

Hmm well it seems to me that the "media" (Spike) are the ones who narrowed down the most anticipated list to the 5 in this post. Wonder how they picked them? Their own personal opinions maybe? If so, why are theirs better than others in this thread? They aren't.

I have no problem with South Park being on that list as I'm kind of looking forward to it but my vote would have to be for the witcher 3

Holy shit...it is.

2009 - Halo 3: ODST
2010 - Halo Reach
2011 - Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (if you want to count this)
2012 - Halo 4
2013 - Halo: Spartan Assault (also not sure if it counts)
2014 - Halo 5

Well, this is depressing.

I really can't say Spartan Assault or CEA count. One is a mobile/PC game being brought to the 360 and Xbox One and the other is a HD remake. Mainline Halo games are every 2 years at this point though.

3 of those aren't even confirmed for 2014 though.

That's true. Even so, they could've at least put The Order on that list. And I am pretty confident that Tomb Raider 2 will be out by the end of 2014 (Square will want to rush it out as soon as possible after the first one was such a huge "disappointment" :p). Mirror's Edge will probably be out in 2015 at the earliest and I have no idea about Uncharted...so yeah, fair point, I guess :p.

Watch Dogs is the only game in that video that I'd place in my own personal top 20 or so anticipated 2014 games. The other selections are beige as hell apart from Stick of Truth, which looks funny but not particularly fun to play. There's a plethora of exciting titles out next year that stand out from the crowd (many of them indie), so it's a shame to see these guys focus on really mundane looking output like Destiny and TitanFall.

Honestly, I think South Park is the only one of those that seems really strange. I'd probably replace that with Smash and the Witcher with Final Fantasy XV.

I like the people in his thread that state that they forgot about a game and then proceed to proclaim it as their most anticipated title.
