VGX 'Most Anticipated 2014 Game' nominees

No, unfortunately, there are people that actually believe there is no legitimate reason to be excited for Titanfall, other than that Microsoft is pushing it as the system seller of their new console.

Fuckin' sad. It's easily my most anticipated game of 2014 and I'll be playing it on the PC that I already have.

I don't get either though. It just looks like another online shooter to me.

Out of that list, the only one I'm really looking forward to is South Park. I'm interested in Destiny, but considering the fact I think Halo is the most overrated franchise, I'm waiting to see how it turns out.

I'm much more excited for Infamous, Dark Souls 2, MLB The Show PS4, Deep Down and Planetside 2.

How the hell did you come to that conclusion? The player just spammed the projectile in that gameplay demo so you're saying that's all the game is? Are you the kind of person who would claim that a fighting game has no depth because someone is mindlessly tossing out projectiles or grabs?
Don't worry, he's still gonna buy it.

I haven't played an online arena shooter that focused on movement as a primary gameplay mechanic since fucking Quake 3: Arena, Starsiege: Tribes, Team Fortress, etc.
That's not insignificant. Titanfall is as much about wall-running, double-jumping, movement as a game mechanic as it is about Mechs.

It's not just Call of Duty. It's Call of Duty Evolved, and that's exactly what I want, from the masters themselves. This game is gonna be the fuckin' shit, for online MP arena shooter fans.

Gotta be Destiny. I'm massively excited for it. Love Borderlands-style loot games and the environmental design is absolutely fascinating. Every time I see art from it I just think, "I want to go to there." My Halo buddies from college are all getting PS4s so we can play together in Bungie's next game. Cannot wait.

Yeah yeah running on walls is fun for a few minutes I get that. What I really see is a game that's going to be infuriating to play as everyone's speeding around the map and jumping off walls killing people. It's going to be impossible to kill people. For the PC version I could see the appeal, but for everyone on Xbox it's going to be funny watching them try to hit people.

Not when you call down a Titan.

Not to mention that Respawn is peppering in AI-controlled bots into the action to make sure that there is always shit to kill, even in a larger arena map.

Thats why you jump in a GIANT ROBOT and step on fools.

I'm fine with people not being excited for Titanfall, if online MP shooters aren't their thing, but I don't understand why some feel the need to attach some kind of disingenuous conspiracy theory to the hype.

It's a new IP from the team that made Call of Duty the biggest franchise in gaming when it actually deserved that title, the hype is real.

All of the positive impressions from fans that have played it have really made me want to get my hands on it, although as a mostly SP gamer I'm really bummed about no Campaign. The traversal mechanics and Titans lend themselves well to single player and I know the Respawn guys could do a great job with it. Oh well, no use complaining about it. They chose not to do it and I doubt they will for other games in the series either.

That's an odd list.

Mines; Uncharted, Destiny, The Order, inFamous, Drive Club, Quantom Break, Watchdogs, MGSV (or GroundZero whateverthefuck) and Smash Bros?

They probably just haven't seen it.

The way I feel about that is, with the rising budgets of AAA games going into this generation, I feel like more focus can only be a good thing.

I think the "total package" of SP AND MP in one game is something that needs to die, because the quality of each half suffers. Projects are simply too big these days to spread development resources out over two different halves of a game. I would much rather have one focused, cohesive product of exceptional quality. That's just how I see it.

Games are losing focus, trying to do too many things at once, and they are hurting for it. It's just not feasible anymore in this development environment, with the scope these games are going for.

Well, How are they doing it then? Such a weak point. Why would you have an issue killing people jumping off walls when you're either in a massive killing machine or you have the same tools as they do

Surprised South Park is such a big deal. I love the show but I'm not expecting the game to be very good. Actually, I'm expecting low to mid scores at best.

Hard to be excited about a game that is never coming to your preferred console.
Not going to get a 360 again for it. Not spending $500 on an Xbone for it. Not a PC gamer. EA has locked out 50% of the market for Titanfall. Expect people to hate on it out of spite.

Sorry, I should have explained better. I completely agree with you. I know why they did it and it makes complete sense. My mind just goes crazy with the possibilities for SP stuff in Titanfall and I've always enjoyed the Respawn guy's SP modes so it just stings a bit extra that there isn't one.

Can't believe The Order wasn't on the list. Definitely my most anticipated PS4 game. I guess from that list I would have to pick Titanfall.

Fine, as long as you admit that it's out of spite, not some bullshit conspiracy theory that the hype is "press manufactured".

I feel ya, I know they can do great SP content, as CoD4 was one of my favorite games of last generation as much for its campaign as its multiplayer.

To this day I'll still load up a mission or two from CoD4 when I'm bored and don't feel like playing anything in particular.

I am pumped for Ground Zero. I expect The Phantom Pain to come out in 2015.

Also looking forward to Second Sons and PS4 Pro Evo. I cant wait to see how that fox engine will make it look like.

It's a COD variant. Unless this becomes a yearly franchise and it's multiplatform, Call of Duty will still be king. With that being said, this game certainly appeals to me. Even though it doesn't give me that next gen vibe, it looks really fun. It I'm open to most types of games and genres. How much of a chance would a casual COD gamer give Titanfall? Playstation fans don't even have a choice.

Are South Park game nominations a running joke in the industry or something? How do they always pop up on various lists?

It's an Obsidian RPG written and voiced by Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Lots to be excited about there.

I'm genuinely looking forward to every game on this list. Hopefully my new laptop will be able to handle Titanfall.

I don't really care too much about how successful Titanfall is, I care how good it is.

I'm a gamer, not an EA stockholder. As I'll be playing it on PC, there's also no "generation", it's just another game that's coming out to me.

I'd say South Park because on the upside Obsidian and Trey and Mark are , but on the downside Obsidian.

Guess I'll be voting for Destiny.

It's almost like it's a big game made by the best RPG designers the industry's ever seen and handled with the laser focus of Matt and Trey. Do you know what happens when Matt and Trey put that focus on a "side" project? They win oscars and tony awards.

Destiny would be my pick.

South Park isn't on my radar, haven't watched the show since the movie. I think its been a decade so the inclusion was odd

Hopefully South Park and Project Eternity are good enough to make up for Dungeon Siege III.

I put $100 into the PE kickstarter, so I have some serious vested interest in that one.
