VGX 'Most Anticipated 2014 Game' nominees

I didn't know Titanfall was multiplayer only

i see some ppl hatin on Titanfall already before release, guess mostly because its not coming on playstation

all i want to hear is that its not gonna require browser and punkbuster lol
 
Expected Smash to have been there and was surprised it wasn't.

Then I gave it some thought and think it's pretty smart they didn't put it as a nominee since its Smash and it'll probably be delayed until 2015.

It makes me giddy inside to see The witcher 3 there. From such small beginnings and with nothing but passion, the series now has one of the most anticipated next-generation games. As someone who has been with the series right from the beginning, I feel happy.

The first one still holds up really well, too, if you install a bunch of graphics mods. The pacing is kind of shit compared to the sequel, there's some parts that just kind of drag on forever (That swamp in the Second Act! My God!), but they're both two of the finest RPGs of the last decade.

The Witcher 3 is going to be fucking nuts.

The press choked on CoD's wang for years and years regardless of its quality. Now that it's finally going downhill they have CoD-Next's balls to fondle. It's annoying.
 
Destiny should win, I'm so serious.

Not because I am a biased fan of Bungie
I am
but because it looks like it will be the most fun to play out of all the games listed for the award. I seriously hope to see more footage, and I cannot wait to see what other announcements there will be just two days after my birthday :)
 
It seems like they were just going for multiplat games on this list.
I'm pretty sure Halo and inFAMOUS would've topped some of these other titles, if they weren't.

I voted for Destiny.

Not sure what Japan is doing to make anyone excited for 2014. Naturally that list is going to lean heavily toward PS4 and Xbone and Japan's next gen strategy seems to be to wait until PS4 has 20 million users before they dip their toes in the water.

Dark Souls II and Bayonetta 2 (even though I don't own a WiiU) are both up there for me.
 
I'm not at all surprised by the amount of Titanfall hate Gaf seems to be having.

The game looks slick, I'm stoked for it.

Keeping that in mind, I'm surprised the South Park game is on the list but not Dark Souls II. Come on guys.

For me as well but I would never expect Bayonetta to make a mainstream list of hotly anticipated games. That game will be lucky to do 500k worldwide.

Yeah, no, that's definitely a personal choice. Bayonetta was one of my favorite games of last gen, even if it's niche as hell. Kamiya does no wrong, and as long as he's somewhat involved with 2, that's good enough for me.

I'll buy a WiiU on the dirt-cheap in a few years just to play TW101 and Bayo 2.

I expected Bayo not being on the list, but no dks 2? It was even unveiled at their pathetic show. People can't tell me they're not excited for dks 2 but South Park.

I put Watch_Dogs as my most anticipated, seeing as that's still going from when we all though it should have launched a few weeks ago.

That being said, it's still a distant second to my hype for Super Smash Bros, regardless of its release in either 2014 or 2015 (Godforbid 2016)

Real talk though, there are various hands on interviews of PAX and E3 attendees that had a blast with Titanfall. Undermining this game seems like an extremely poor case of judgment both in its quality and crowd reception. I currently don't hold pinpoint accurate sociological data of Titanfall HYPE, but I have heard around campuses, cafes', and websites people talking about Titanfall or "That game with the robots and jetpacks".
 
As beautiful as The Witcher 3 looks, I had to give my vote on Destiny.

I hear The Witcher has an amazing story and clearly impressive graphics given the engine they're using but... I know they are going for a realistic tone but maybe that's what sets me off about it? I like my unrealistic looking environments. :P
 
People hate Titanfall because they (currently) hate Microsoft. They hate EA. They hate what CoD has become.


People like Titanfall because they look at what the game is doing and are happy to see the FPS genre taking a step forward.


The xbox one has a good exclusive coming. Get over it, guys.
 
My vote is a dead split between Titanfall and Witcher 3. Both of those games are going to consume much of my gaming time next year.

Funny thing is, quite a bit of those awards I listed off are specifically mentioning the game on the PC platform, even. PC Gamer, etc.

The hype is real, from all angles. The GamesRadar - Best Call of Duty Game award is pretty funny, though. Got a chuckle out of me.

There are people here on GAF that actually think South Park will OUTSELL Titanfall and Dark Souls 2
 
Lack of inFamous is to be expected, that game won't be a mega hit, and is destined to be under-appreciated, just like the fantastic two games before it.

Of the ones listed, Witcher 3 is my easy choice.
 
I'm just happy that I know I will get to play Titanfall and The Witcher 3 next year. man. Does The Division have a release window at all?

No Smash = not even gonna try to take this shit seriously. South Park over Smash? Someone ought to be slapped. This whole list should be Smash yo. Smash 5 times. Every choice is Smash.

Smash is real hype. TitanFall fans aren't even gonna remember the game is coming out until like a month before it hits and respawn fuckin reminds y'all of the release date. Smash? You have recurring dreams about Smash. Dreams that drive you mad until it's all you can think about, and then you hear voices and with each and every delay they become louder and louder and louder telling you FUCKING SMASH IS COMING DAWG and suddenly there it is and you're simply not ready, your friends ain't ready, your body ain't ready, your body ain't shit next to Smash and Smash knows it
