Everyone saying philadelphia fans are assholes are wrong. And ill beat you up until you realize your error. Plus these people went to genos not pats wtf.

I understand we're you're coming from bro, but sometimes a stereotype is supported by truth. I've worked for NFL players who say no doubt about it, Philly is the craphole of sports. It's such a hateful mentality, where you can't even visit and cheer your team on for fear of getting beat. I mean Philly is the place were Santa Claus has been booed. Santa Claus brah.

That was in the 1960s though.

I don't hold any thing against Baltimore or there fans for Ray Lewis.

Ray Lewis grew up in Florida, went to the University of Miami, and has spent his entire NFL career in Baltimore. All three of those places are rather shitty and looked down upon by most of civilized non-murdering society. Regarding Baltimore and "the U" nothing more needs to be said, and I'm sure you have seen the animated gif of Bugs Bunny sawing off Florida a few thousand times.

Baltimore remains the only city I have found, where instead of an actual police presence, they just have flashing blue lights for lamp posts.

I like how Philly sports fans are considered one of the best because of how radical and dangerous they are when it comes to their sports teams.

People blaming this on hockey or Philly are idiots. Doesnt anybody remember the Giants fan getting nearly killed at a Dodgers game 8 months ago?

Course these same idiots dont give a shit about the victims anyway, this is is just another stop on the 24 hour news cycle for them to bitch and moan about.

Back to the hockey thread before I catch a ban. I hear its contagious round these parts.

Why are the victims idiots?
It's difficult to tell, but it appeared there were a lot of punches being thrown.
you'll find fisti-cuffs everywhere, but you must agree that this particualr instance the idiots where one sided. they started and then had this choice quote :
Yes, they were idiots.
And that's all that really needs to be said.

Not really. Just because the person who is a person is a member of a stereotyped group does not mean that they are a supreme being that can rule on whether generalizations are accurate or not.

OK fuck it. I was going to stay away but the gigantic mass of fucking stupid in here has reached a critical mass in less than a page. Let me start with a clear, simple message for all the jackasses posting in here without any fucking clue what they're talking about.

This is an isolated incident that could happen anywhere. It has nothing to do with Philadelphia or with hockey. Anyone that thinks otherwise is completely ignorant to professional sports fandom throughout the world. Period.

Now on to the more specific complaints. First, Philly is not any more violent than the rest of the country, at least not in any way suggested here. I'm a Flyers fan who grew up outside of NYC. The most violent displays of fanaticism have come hands down from Giants Stadium. I was at the Giants/Chargers game where people started throwing ice balls as a kid. That was fucking insane, and worse than anything I've ever seen in Philly. Second, I've seen more fist fights between Rangers and Devils fans than any other combination in sports. I've seen more beer thrown in the Devils stadium than in Philly. I've seen plenty of fights at college sports, including in Florida, NJ, and Pennsylvania. The difference is in the level of reporting. When it happens in Philly it's news because we have a reputation for it. This shit happens everywhere. It just only gets reported in the local papers. This particular incident got even bigger because the game was on a national stage.

Second, this has something to do with hockey fans? No. Hockey allows fighting in the sport. People don't seem to get that it can be a legitimate part of the sport without also ascribing some sort of stupid mindset to the fans, despite the fact that fans of EVERY sport fight. I've seen PLENTY of fights at football games. Fighting in hockey serves a whole bunch of purposes, but to be honest they're all pretty damn irrelevant here since we're talking about fans. I think the funniest claim in here was something about "hockey culture." Fuck that! Look at international soccer. Fucking refs have died over games! So before you go insulting my sport go look around.

This entire thread went full retard in about two posts. That's impressive.

macattack's new avatar is hot shit. first time im seeing it outside nhl-gaf. crazy world we're livin in

too many showing up on flyers defense force now. i need to switch sides

THIS IS ALL SCOTT HARTNELL'S HAIRS FAULT

Philadelphia gets the most shit out of any fan base. EVERY SINGLE CITY has incidents just like this. The fact that people use this garbage to say one fanbase is better than another is stupid. Drunk idiots wearing Flyers jerseys beat up idiots wearing Rangers jerseys. Welcome to the world of sports violence. This is not a Philadelphia thing, it is a product of aggressive sports and drinking.

Edit: It seems this thread is just a place for fans of other teams to pile on to Philadelphia. even though I could probably find cases of fisticuffs in all of these "Philly-haters" home towns.

Pretty fucking damn rare in Montreal buddy.

I understand the Philly defense force, but if you are attempting to say that the "tough guy" mentality isn't a problem with your fanbase you are mistaken. I get that incidents can happen anywhere. Still, a very large portion of your fanbase has a degenerate mindset.

I live in Philly which is why I agree with his sentiment and judging by your avatar you do too(live in Philly).

You are awesome. Alot of dumb ignorant posts in here till now. Anyway, we all know Canuck fans are the worst.. ;)

Didn't a Phillies fan pee on some guy and his daughter 2 years ago?

That was vomit. I believe he was also a cop. I wonder why incidents with the Police are always the ones that get reported? I guess it's a better story when the more valuable members of society are assaulted.

I honestly haven't seen anything more than mild heckling at the dozens of Flyers and Phillies games I've been to, people really do just want to have a good time.

ed: Yeah, I agree with BWG's post.

Ripclawe is obviously Philly-racist

any other kinda racist and he'd be banned already

I live outside Philly. Philly is scum. Not all, but certainly more than any other city. Except Oakland.

There are somethings that you just can't defend. Philly sports fans are one of them.

The Winter Classic must have been a major disappointment for you and Bryz both. Spaceman ordered special pads and everything.

All dressed up and no place to go.

He wore them tonight against the BlackHawks. He almost lost the game too. Just so you know.
