Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 ≼|℧T|≽ Xenos Saga 2

PSA: They're doing double experience this weekend in Operations and PVP for anyone wanting to level up any classes or weapons before Patch 7 hits in like 2 weeks.

Patch 7 is bringing in a new Tyranid operation, bunch of weapon changes, reworked skills, a prestige system, some re-worked weapons restrictions (Assualt can rock the Power Sword) and some sick ass armors.

Imperial Fists and Space Wolves are getting champion armor packs they look nasty.

Anyone tried the new operation? Thought it was pretty good. On level 2 Prestige. Think the Prestige perks could be a bit better, honestly.

Nope, but I just got the pun in the OT title. Holy damn am I slow sometimes.

Been thinking of jumping back in for a long while, I think this weekend will be the time. Looking forward to the new operation!

Definitely seems like Necrons will be the primary enemy of SM3.
I absolutely believe they were cut from 2, but with Mecanicus 2 also having them (playable this time) I fear they would pull back to not burn out people with too much Necrons (even though I would LOVE if they were in 3). I was also surprised Thousand Sons having such a big role in 2 so I hope they get another more niche pick for 3 like Votann or or Genestealer cults.

I keep firing up this game from time to time to try the new stuff, having said that, there's 2 things I absolutely cannot stand with this game :

- The loading times are ATROCIOUS, truly horrible stuff that takes me back to to PS360 era.
Starting up the game ? Shit, it's 35+ seconds which after that, it's another 15+ to start/load the mission.
What, you got kicked out of the squad for whatever reason? Tough luck, that's another 20-30 seconds to take you back to the lobby.
Finished a mission ? Here, have another 15+ seconds until the game boots you up to the lobby.
It's something that completely takes me out of the game and actively deters me from playing it most of the times, WH Darktide is much better when it comes to this.

- Sound production/mixing : put it simply, shit's borked, there's no "oomph" to anything, steps are super loud, mice crawling through the backgrounds are very audible and yet, chainsaw revs are almost inaudible, weapons feel weak and as soon as you start a skirmish everything turns into a jumbled cacophony of sounds between the voices, explosions that sound like a bag of popcorns, anemic weapon sounds etc etc.
Got a soundbar a couple of weeks ago and after giving the new update a try it made me think that - I shit you not - there was something wrong with my soundbar...
In game options (stereo/5.1/7.1) do fuck and all about it as do the various EQ presets on the soundbar, besides, it's the same exact shit no matter if you play using a soundbar/speakers or headphones, the game is just horribly mixed, no 2 ways about it.

I finished the game just now (main campaign and all operations). Haven't had PS+ for 1,5 years so don't know how the netplay is and don't care. Loaned the game from the local library.

What a fucking ride, the game was so good. Operations especially playing tactical with the jump pack and the hammer, fucking hell the maneuvers you could pull. So much fun. Edit: I found the beginning of the campaign on Kadaku being the worst part in the game. The jungles to start with and not properly utilizing the block and rolls on Veteran felt a bit hard. But once I actually concentrated and started playing the game properly, it just clicked and the ride was great.

Can't wait for Space Marine 3.

I finished the game a 2nd time , i really liked it but i hope with SM3 they will go a little further

I really hope they deliver a longer campaign 15-20h , a more complex story ( warhammer universe is filled with great stories ) , more guns and enemy variety , SM2 proved that there are enough people excited for warhammer games especially if they are done properly

Did you play the operations?

Is this game any fun as a solo player/someone willing to party up with randos but without a mic?

It's 40% off on Steam, and I've had it on my wishlist for a while but don't have a friend group ready to join me on it. FWIW I enjoyed the Vermintide games--not sure if the co-op/progression is similar in this one.

Yeah, I think it is. I play with randos all the time and usually no one is on mic.

The latest update has added support for DLSS 4 and RTAO. The difference is very subtle, in my opinion.

Man fantastic update overall, I cant wait. I love this game.

They didn't say though if they're going to allow champion skin components to be customized individually yet or not, hopefully so.

My character making obsession is going to go into overdrive when that update hits.

On Reddit there was a post indicating that champion skins can be customized

Hmm... is that a Bulwark using a heavy bolt pistol, or did I forget how the normal ones looked like?

So how's the PVP on this these days? I played at launch and it felt very unbalanced so I fell off it pretty fast, but I did enjoy the way it played despite being a bit annoying.

Bulwark can use the Heavy Bolt now :)

They gave access to more weapons all around in a patch a few months ago.

Bulwark can also use the Thunder Hammer now, and they redid the skill tree to support it. Assault can also use the Power Sword plus some other tweaks like that with other classes.

I haven't played PVP in a few months but it was better than launch for sure, they did some balancing.

But the patch next week is a pretty big update, you'll be able to customize the pvp Chaos skins a little, a new map, and a new pvp game mode with a helbrute. So it might be a good time to try it out again assuming more people come back for it.

Has the ps5 performance improved in any of the latest patches?

Not sure Im on PC... but somehow PC performance actually got worse the past few months so hopefully they get that shit sorted out in this next patch too.
