Was Killzone 2 announced?

I'm one of those loonies that slogged through Killzone for love of the atmosphere and presentation. Any developer that cites Paul Verhoeven and WWII as inspiration is good by me.

I'd love to see more of the same dirty, nasty, and unfair warfare found in Killzone on say - the PS3.

Screw all the backlash from the idiot media hyping it up beyond proportion. Killzone was hella fun, and frustrating as hell at times.

Loved that game to pieces. The media certainly destroyed peoples conceptions of what the game was. I loved the art direction and atmosphere and really hope they return to it and do it complete justice on a machine that can actually handle it.

I kinda liked it...

I also loved the art direction and atmosphere, but the technical problems ruined the game for me. The framerate was just too low.

The saving grace of this game, the art direction, was only good in a couple of levels. Nearly EVERYTHING ELSE(the only exception would be the sporadic use of music during the game...what a freakin' waste) is shit. The world doesn't needs Killzone 2.

Cool.

I'd prefer the released it on the PS3, just so I can get a more immersive world, but whatever they do is fine.

I also didn't get the gripes about the frame rate. Sure it's no Konami / Koei game, but the frame rate never got as bad as the reviews had me believing it would get. I was expecting a huge drop in quality with each new level and it never came.

Killzone is easily one of the most maligned games this generation thanks to the idiot gaming media.

I would have liked the option to play a Helghast campaign in addition to the ISA game.

same here - the design is just awesome, but there were to many technical problems.

I liked things about the game too, but you're standards must be awful low.

What's the online like these days? Anyone know?

A tip for all PALers out there, Killzone is 15£ at Play.com, which is very cheap. I ordered myself a copy yesterday. I refuse to believe the American media!

You've got to be joking. The framerate is beyond bad. It's nearly on the same level as something like Perfect Dark (OK, not THAT bad...but close). There is no other game in my console library this gen with a framerate as bad as Killzone's. It's virtually unplayable at times.

I noticed the framerate drops, but I didn't think it was really that bad. What was bad was the last level. Oh my oh my. Not because of the framerate but because it was terrible.

I think that's the only time i've ever beat the final boss in a game, and not realise that was actually the boss until the game was over.

Hey, fuck you too. I never owned an N64. :P

It's got nothing to do with low standards, and everything to do with the reviews preparing me to see a consistently 15fps or worse experience, and things that just never came to pass.

My only other guess would be my play style facilitated a steady frame rate? I'm not the type to run around guns blazing. I'm a god damn stingy bitch when it comes to my ammunition and will spend more time taking shots from across the screen and sniping before running into a room. I'd have to run into a room full of baddies to test this.

To be perfectly honest, I don't expect much of anything out of console FPS games. They're intrinsically inferior to their PC counterparts due to the shite aiming mechanics resulting from game pad use.

Aside from a lot of system link Unreal Tournament play at PS2 launch (thanks to the developers acknowledging those USB ports on the front of the PS2), Killzone is the only other console FPS I've spent a considerable amount of time with this generation. Considerable translating directly to - slogging through it to see the ending.

I don't think I'll ever be the sort of gaming freak of nature that awaits, or anticipates, a console bassed FPS. Yeah, this thread seems to contradict this - but I received the original game as a gift. So sure, I want to see more Killzone; but once they're out I'm waiting for them to hit the clearance shelf at Target. :D

On-line play was decent from what I played, but the weapon distribution on the maps really stunk. I recall one level in which the Helghast have to penetrate this beach side ISA fortress, and the only weapons that spawned on the Helghast side were grenade launchers. ISA troops has a geographical advantage and access to rocket launchers and more problematic - sniper rifles.

There is no other game in my console library this gen with a framerate as bad as Killzone's. It's virtually unplayable at times.

That's news to me. :D
