Funny how Ryse: Son of Rome is ignored.

Where was everyone when it was PS4 vs Xbox One and Ryse looked better than anything launching on the PS4? Where was the "IT looks more powerful on paper, but the games don't show it" Rhetoric?

I did, to watch the rest of his content and it is nauseatingly biased, the guy act like Phil Spencer pissed in his Cheerios and Sony's poop is chocolate ice cream.... Yumm :poop:🍨

Doesn't matter if he was showing proof to his claims, something no one could deny.

My friend, Omani guy, was the number one in most hours played on MP, he was nuts! You need to be nuts to break such a number and be 1st globally.
I don't even remember how many hours I played KSF in the MP, but there were many. I love the MP from Killzone 2/3/SF!

The screenshots are from 2014 btw^^

No.
I don't do MP so maybe that was amazing but the campaign sucked. It was boring, performed very poorly, and gameplay sucked. I wasn't wowed by the graphics at all, I think maybe it's because I wasn't a fan of the art direction and bored to tears in the campaign so I didn't notice the high quality of the graphics.

I only played Ryse fairly recently when I got GP. I never had much interest in the game. While I think the graphics in Ryse look better than KZSF I liked it even less than KZSF. It was even more boring and super repetitious. I gave up on it less than halfway through it; I was so bored, I couldn't stay awake.

I rather talk about today, Killzone SF and Ryse are last gen. Xbox Series X has plenty of great footage, but the fanboys want to focus on Halo only while ignoring the good stuff, ironically ignoring what looks bad on PS5 like Godfall and Quantum Error.

Nice CGI's running on PC.

People shit on it but I thought it was decent. Campaign was ok but the multiplayer was a loooot of fun. Much better than CoD Ghosts which launched with the console.

Here, 1080@60fps MP:

60fps doesn't mean you need to fall a generation back.

Shadow Fall MP was reconstructed 1080p btw. Ie. not 1080p.

It is what MS has shown as their premier example of XSX gameplay though. But yes, of course it can do much better. MS 1st party is just not very impressive (although I'm sure Forza will look great).
It wasn't shown as their premier example of XSX gameplay. Despite why people think, the event was an Xbox games showcase, not Xbox Series X games showcase.

As a launch title it was fantastic. I played through it twice and I almost never do that. The multiplayer was on point too. A share of a screenshot from that game was my first ever tweet. Memories. Maybe I'll pop in the disc and play a few levels for nostalgia's sake this weekend.

I watched the video yesterday, the comparison between both games is brutal. How can a game world feel so dead when compared to a launch title for current gen?, 12TFLOPS amirite?

Visually it was amazing.

But I really wasn't able to enjoy the game very much. Just not my cup of tea.

Asking if KZ was ahead of it's time (no but was impressive) is one thing.
Comparing it to an unreleased delayed Halo is rediculous. Shame, this thread had so much potential .

Most of these posts rightly concur with the points in the video. The guy even says he knows Killzone wasn't a great game, it's looking at visuals.

You can tell an Xbox fan because they're trying to argue with FPS and story as their crutch

Absolute trash game to play. I hated it so much and I resented Gaf for making me think I should get it back in the day. Enemies would just walk into my bullet fire. AI was bad. Why would you put security spider robots that explode as a deterrent for your super sensitive space lab? That shipping container, Galaga escort mission was dumbest level I played in the a shooter. Absolutely hated using the touch sensor to activate the drone for different things. It was bad bad bad.

Visually I thought it was gorgeous but I got bored pretty quickly, I don't know if the pacing or level design had something to do with that, I just couldn't take to it.

I know KZ2 is a favourite however I liked 3 the best, campaign and multiplayer.
2 was the best storywise. 3 was set up for an amazing story and had an amazing villain but every single time the good guys won too easily. It was a little bit too happy go luck in comparison to 2 after that awesome setup.

and, like, none of what you've said has anything to do with the video in the OP. Are you aware of how evasive you're being? Killzone looks better, this has nothing to do with how good or bad it was. Be on topic - do you think it looks better, or worse? That's what the OP is prompting you to discuss.

A pretty game can be a shitty game. Ryse was beautiful trash too

Honestly couldn't listen to that YouTubers obnoxious voice longer than 60 seconds though

They weren't showing the XB1 version. I guess they weren't actually showing the XSX version either though. But they definitely intended it as a next gen demonstration. And... yeah.

Yes. Give me a KZ2 remake with updated graphics in 4k 60 FPS and a VR mode with aim controller support

You are completely full of crap, they said the game was running at the specs you could expect on Series X. Why would you show people gameplay representative of Series X to market the One X version? Why does their official website claim the game was made natively for Series X?

So I came across this hilarious comparison between Halo Craig's Infinite Vs Killzone Shadowfall by KingThrash (discovered this dude when someone here in GAF had shared his older video). Some of the world detail and animations are so good even to this day. It's crazy how GG managed to pull this off so early in the PS4 life cycle, it was a launch title. The level design and navigation and combat encounters were weak, but the visuals were something else.

This dudes commentary...holy shit.

I saw a number of people commenting on how bad the gameplay was so I chimed in.

Couldn't even watch that video. But it's reveal video was very impressive and huge upgrade from PS3.

So far for next gen gfx we have not not see that big of a jump sadly. I think the reason is because 4K, RT requires lot of processing power and 60fps will have impact on gfx fidelity. Having said that current gfx quality is pretty good.

Wasn't it running at interlaced 1080p to achieve the graphics though? or was that the case only for multiplayer? I remember reasing that game was being rendered at 960x1080 resolution (instead of the regular 1920x1080)

Maybe because it was the only true Gameplay shown and its Xbox's main franchise?

And people usually like to talk about things wich they can say bad things about It, its Just human nature these days.

And btw, Quantum error is more like an indie game made by like 4 people. You really want that far just to make PS5 looks as bad? 343 is a giant studio and comparison and has Far more investiment. Halo is Your main franchise

I mean, really, are we supposed to be convinced by full 4k halo vs chequerboard killzone? i mean, really, it looks virtually identical - that's why they accepted it as an alternative in the first place. the death stranding ps4 pro vs pc video by digital foundary is an exercise in insane nitpicking.

I don't care if shadowfall is shadows projected onto ur screen by finger puppets, it looks better than a game for a 12x more powerful console.

you can't spin that

edit: if u guys were impartial you would recognize that with a console supposedly 12x more powerful it should be able to:

A) Look better
b) have native 4k
c) run smoother.

It should have all three of those things over killzone. Who gives a shit if they're trying to do 4k - it should not come at the cost of all the other areas of the graphics. You guys are spinning around like so many planets in the universe~

You can make a case for Killzone Shadow Fall being ahead of its time without comparing it to the lackluster Halo: Infinite reveal. That's just riding the hate wave and piling on for clicks.
Putting any good looking FPS next to Halo: Infinite will make a case for it.

I mean, yes. Lets just look at his username lol. But for sure, it was graphically superior to just about anything out there at the time. Although it was only a few short months (4) until Infamous Second Son. And THAT game was the one you could bring your buddies over to just watch you play and show off what an impressive AND COMPETENT piece of software looked like.

Seriously, there are sections of Killzone SF's single player that are so broken they make shooters from the N64 days look reasonable. Instant death sequences galore, horrriiiibblle pacing, and a serious lack of shooting set piece battles make it seem like a prototype. The core gunplay isn't half bad, as evidenced by it's multiplayer. The performance in multi is fine versus the single player where maintaining resolution took priority over running smoothly--the multiplayer took significant hits to rez IRRC

If you think Death Stranding on PS4 Pro and a 2080ti running the game with DLSS 4k in quality mode at 90+fps looks the same, you need to get your eyes checked. Seriously, stop with the hyperbole. Sanity will never win on this forum because the Sony fangirls have no thumbs and think 30-45fps feels fine. GTFO. This is next gen. Obviously Infinite's graphics are lackluster but when that game's multiplayer (or any number of next gen games focused on delivering what the last gen couldn't) runs at 120fps, it will undoubtedly blow some of your console-only friends' minds and they'll stop drinking the coolaid.

If the hugely upgraded CPUs of these next gen consoles are wasted on 30fps slideshows, it will be a crying travesty

I played through the Killzone games but don't really remember them that well. I don't know if that is a sign that they were forgettable or a sign that I'm getting forgettable as I get older, lol. The games still look really good though, which is a testament to Guerilla.

Infinite's graphics are lackluster but [excuses and innuendo]

the proof is in the pudding mate, and you're making a whole lot of implications based off pretty scanty evidence. i personally don't care about 30 vs 60, i just care about the game looking and performing like the designers intended. u know metroid prime was locked to 60 fps?

They were zooming in on letterbox shots of moss to differentiate between ps4 pro and pc in that death stranding video.. I'm not saying ps4 pro looks as good, but it looks fine with chequerboarding.

XBox fans are overstating how important 4k and 60+fps is because it's all they can still hold on to, after microsoft delivered a bomb presentation, delayed their pants flagship game and watered down their initial bullishness re: the XSX when they realized their product is inferior.

Halo Infinite has a 250 million budget or something, been in development for 4+ years and thus people are being harshly critical on it. Neither GodFall nor Quantum Error are first party games for PS5, your comparison is moot

You're completely right. Do the comparison when Halo Infinite comes out. Why compare an unfinished game to a finished one? Of course this video could have compared Killzone to Halo 5 or 4 right? That would have made sense if it was meant to be constructive. Was this video meant to be constructive?

One thing is to be hard on 343, the other is to blame Series X, the latter is what's festering throughout Gaf.
