Washington Post calls GameCube "obsolete", recommends PS2/Xbox for Holiday gifts...

Admit it, it's over. What's the Gamecube got left? Zelda? Um..... Starfox ( :lol :lol )?

RE4 is multiplatform now, that is no longer a reason to shell out for a GC.

So basically, all GC has left is Zelda (which will rock), a 3rd party developed starfox game (Played it. Shit), and ...More Donkey Konga?

It's fuckin' over. My Gamecube has 8 months worth of dust on it. The last time I had a use for it was Twin Snakes (meh), and since then not ONE game exclusive to it has been appealing to me. THere's something wrong there. Very wrong.

The only reason I still keep it around is because of the new Zelda. I just wish they'd move it to Revolution so I can get rid of it...

that's stupid. RE fans wont wait an additional 10-12 months for the PS2 version. RE4 is still a big game on the cube.

Oh no. The PS2 version will have Dante, and extra "unique" graphics.

The PS2 version will be watered down no doubt about it. It might have additional content, but i doubt that since the original RE4 team with Mikami is NOT doing the PS2 port.

*looks at Outbreak sales*

Apparently, they don't care. They want RE on Playstation. End of Story.

The PS2 version will outsell the GC version handily.

Relative to the series' Playstation sales and the large gap between userbases of the two consoles, Outbreak bombed too.

So what if the PS2 version will sell more. It's still a big game on the cube which some people seem to downplay.

Other than Zelda and Wanda, I think those salivating for late 2005 games are strange. The Xbox 2 is coming out...

How many Australians?

Halo 2 did 104,000 here in Australia in its first week. Considering the number of GameCubes that have been sold here is probably about double that figure, there is no chance in hell that any new Zelda game is going to top Halo or its sequel.

They already said it would have extra content.

Did anyone actually read this? I bet it's worthwhile, but I would be even more likely to pick it up if someone could recommend it.

It's a good book, but there are better ones out there that cover more years too.

IAWTP

RE fans who already bought Zero and REmake that deliberately ignore the GC RE4 are total idiots.

I'm glad you would rather spend your time loading on the PS2 then actually playing the game which looks nicer on the Cube. More stock for me.

Obsolete?

Nerd Mode: On

This year's games, according to gamerankings (minimum of 10 reviews)....

>= 85%	28	24	13
>= 90%	6	5	2

So you call PC ports and multiplatform games keeping Xbox off the morgue? :lol. So much for obselete, seems that the Xbox is fat but not because of quality food.....

What exactly is your problem? You have been knocking Xbox all over this thread when it is quite evident to everyone that Xbox is doing quite well, specifically when compared to the GameCube. Right now, Xbox is close to PS2 in yearly sales, yearly game releases, and quality game releases. GameCube... no, no, and no.

Again, what exactly is your problem?

So, according to this list, the percentage of games scoring 80% and over is:

PS2 - 47% (factored on 200 games)
Xbox - 54%
GCN - 65%

So Nintendo was right. Quality over Quantity.

:)

What did you expect? For everyone to roll over Gamecube based upon what this Washington Post guy has said? Maybe you should read it again. It's insulting to the Gamecube owner

Xbox is doing better......(in certain regions of the world), but calling a system "obselete". Fucking insulting just like Riddick said

shocked at the amount of people in here that listen to newspapers to decide which video games to buy. one guy in a newspaper says gamecube is obselete. I disagree, i've played it a lot more than my other systems in the past 3 months. Life goes on.

but it's ok to knock the hell out of the gamecube? It's clearly not obsolete. It's still selling 100,000K + every month.

Touché.

I never would say the GameCube is obsolete, mind you. But the reporter's opinion is certainly not without merit.

You're looking at it the wrong way. Sure, PS2 and xbox have more games than GC... but directly as a result of that, they also have more quality titles than GC.

Actually no, GameCube is just below 100,000 here. Halo 2 outsold the entire GC userbase in a week.

I'm detecting sarcasm, but the math is wrong. Each number is a total. There are 60 games total ranked above 80% on PS2, not 60 between 80-84.9.

;)

Kind of a backwards way to look at it, don't you think? Who cares about how many crappy games there are bringing down the average? People care about the number of above-average titles, not really their relationship to the number of poor titles. A system with 3 excellent games and nothing else gets 100%, but still makes a relatively poor purchase.
