Camera is my only complain for now. Feels too clunky.

I found
Ace's Star.
It's not junk, so I feel like it's important but I can't figure out what to do with it.

Check your log, You get a quest with it.

You start off with awfully few attribute points when you create your character. Do you gain more as you level up, and if so, how often?

I don't believe so, and if you do, it's going to be limited. You've got a party, so you've got to focus on specialists to cover each others' weaknesses in addition to recruiting NPCs to fill out the rest.

The build guide google doc posted a while back made it sound like you might get another attribute point every 10 levels or something.

I just started playing this a few hours ago. During this three hours I got two level rises, and they both came with two skill points. In addition, I found a shrine that gave each party member one skill point.

The scarcity of ammunition is turning me off a bit. I will probably restart with a different kind of party, because my sniper dude becomes quite useless when the ammo runs out. And those .30-06 rounds cost an arm and a leg. Or maybe I'm just missing something crucial here.

Since it seems to come up a bit thought I'd link to some posts of tips/advice shared for character creation mentioned in this thread. Feel free to suggest others that may be useful, too. Also be sure to take a look at the game manual for a lot of pointers.

- Sanctuary's ranged build advice
- Belgaria's four member guideline list
- Shake Appeal's general thoughts on balanced skills (longer version)
- UncleSporky's beta observations (updated, keyboard tips)
- Toodles' link to SA's four member skills character build

- Unofficial character editor app (Java-based)

- Large collection of custom Character Portraits (zipped mirror).
- Custom portraits thread on the official forums

Place custom portraits within the following directory:
Code:
.../Documents/My Games/Wasteland 2/Custom Portraits

Changing the portrait after character creation is possible using the character editor program above, or by replacing the currently used image with another of the same filename (thanks for the tip Fantastapotamus).

I think that's it, but there are shrines found around the game that give all in your party a permanent stat boost. As well as different trinkets and equipment that can give attribute boosts. I've only see Charisma, Strength and Luck though in my time playing the Beta.

Steam overlay doesnt work for me either for some reason. I just got into the sewers and the game is much prettier , went to take some pictures but nothing. couldn't see a message from a friend either.

Actually some people have reported that the shrines now just give XP and no stat boosts.

I found two shrines and at least one gave me an extra skill point.

They must've just been talking about the attribute point shrines, then. In beta there were skill ones and attribute ones, now it seems there are skill ones and XP ones.

In other news, I'm just getting started playing, and the graphics have improved at least slightly since beta. I took the character snapshot on the left just 2 days ago, and you can see the difference between then and now:

It's not gorgeous but they shored up some of the issues since then.

Less than two hours and I'll be home and starting my game. I still don't know what I'll do for my party build. Gotta read what little build guides there are right now.

Beta was every 10 levels gave one attribute point.

Skill shrines were more abundant, but there were a few Attribute shrines as well, though that may be changed now.

I was reading some of the guides for skills and noticed it said luck was a dump skil, is it reall? I thought luck was op in most games, i tried it out and kept getting a lot of crits and those lucky horse shoe things.

AFAIK, Luck has pretty negligible 'visible' effects, in that it gives 1.5% evasion and 1% crit chance per level. (at least, I think. on mobile atm).

The benefits of luck are often better used in hitting a plateau for AP-giving attributes (which can give crit or evasion), or into Int for skill points.

Jeez, that top comment on the combat video

NO, DO NOT fucking use Arial in the GUI!!! What artistically blind asshole intern did you hire to pick the GUI fonts? Hugely disappointed.

Is Arial font really that big of a deal to people?

Anyone having bad screen tearing and/or frame rate issues? My rig's definitely meaty enough to run this fine (in theory).

Their choice of fonts for some things could be better informed, but overreacting is unnecessary. Looks like the team is open to feedback though, so maybe some more level-headed feedback will make it their way.

I don't like looking at guides much or builds at first. I tried to keep a balanced team one person heal/snipe, heavy weapons etc. I ain't too far in but so far I'm doing okay. Melee weapons are a life savor, been luck and have one equipped for my whole team. I love it so far.

Huh.

My Beta crew looks to be available to play (though I admittedly haven't tried to load their game).

Gonna start a new set, anyways, but good to know I'll have a fall-back, I guess.

Still downloading it, and currently reading the manual. I do have a question though...
Does initiative actually do more than just dictate combat order? In the manual it states:

Combat Initiative determines how fast your Ranger's turn comes up, and how often that Ranger has a turn if the combat encounter takes many turns to resolve. Each character in the game has an Initiative score, determining overall turn order on the fly. Ignoring the attributes that buff up this stat will lead situations where that Ranger rarely
contributes to combat
.

I really don't know what the last sentence is trying to say at all. Do some characters get more turns in a single round (turn)? Otherwise the last part doesn't make any sense, because if everyone gets a turn, how often they get to take an action wouldn't be affected, just the order.

Could somebody image host those character portraits for those of us who don't use Facebook? That would be great. Do you think it's worth buying the deluxe edition for Bard's Tale? I have never played that and if I remember right there aren't any maps and you must use graph paper. I might be wrong though.

There aren't rounds in the sense that you need every unit to act before another unit that already acted can do so again, initiative says how often you get to have a turn compared to the other units.
Basically if you have very high initiative not only will you be the first to act in the fight, but your turn will pop up more often than people with lower initiative (you can consider turns for each player to be separated by a cooldown that ticks down every turn, the higher your initiative is the shorter the timer so in 100 total turns a unit can attack 70 times while the other only 30 because of the initiative discrepancy).

So it's similar, but not exactly the same as say number of attacks per round found in the BG games? I'm not sure I've ever played another turn based game where initiative/speed actually allows a character to get multiple actual turns per round (as opposed to just getting more attacks off during their single turn).

So the special perk for backers is accessble to anyone for sure? Thought this was the only benefit for $15 backers...I guess getting the game for $15 rather then $60 is a hell of a benefit too so can't complain!

TFW: something awesome you backed ages ago comes out and you had no idea hnnnnng

Perfect timing too with the weekend.

Agreed. I don't even care about extras, got it for 15 bucks. Fuck it

The only way I have found to heal is using the field medic skill which uses expensive consumables, is there any other method of healing or am I just about to run out of health and start letting people die? I don't have the money to afford $20 a hit cost to heal up and keep going. :/

5 hours in and I'm loving it! Much better than I thought it would be. I got that well known feeling when I know I can start playing it in the morning and get up from the desk 12 hours later :)
Also, Hard difficulty is really nicely balanced so far. Challenging but not frustrating. Hopefuly it stays that way all the way to the end.

Hm, I got plenty of money, to be honest and I'm just in the first big town (Highpool I think). There are quite a lot containers in the maps containing junk that sells nicely. Maybe you should pay more attention to your surroundings :p

There are medics around that will heal you for free but you need to "unlock" them by progressing the quests. I found one in AG I presume there is also one at Highpool.
You also automatically heal when you level up.
I don't really have any problem with health, I have ~15 health kits already cause I try to keep my guys alive till they level up or save the level ups till they are low on health

Nope, everything's been looted, it's just that giant bunnies that do more than 20 damage a hit and take multiple turns to kill are going to require tons of money in healing items. I'd like to spend some on equipment, but if there isn't any other way to heal then that's suicide.

Also, does age or religion ever pop up within the game's story or is it just for role-playing purposes?

I'll get to playing the game....eventually.

Is there ANYWHERE I can download a wallpaper of the loading screen, the one that looks like the original Wasteland box cover?

Would love to have it in 1080p.

I took a screenshot of the loading screen as it was fading in, and then another with the loading bar on top of it, and did a little editing to remove the bar...not 100% perfect but you wouldn't be able to notice.
