Sony and Microsoft have published 19 new game releases thus far this generation so anyone who thinks that they don't have any games is delusional.
That makes a ton of sense when I go through my PS5 and Xbox library and see more games from the PS4 sitting there. I have played so much Mass Effect Legendary Edition and Final Fantasy Theatrhythm which were both from last generation.

Through 2024, Microsoft would have released 22 new games while Sony would have released 20 new games. Through 50 months since November 2020, Microsoft is averaging a new game release every 2.2 months while Sony is averaging a new game release every 2.5 months. Like, what is the problem? Considering games take 5+ years to develop, I would say that's pretty damn good. Sony has a total gap of 33 months without releasing a new game while Microsoft is at 30 through 2024 but both publishers have had months where they release multiple games in the same month. Longest monthly stretch of not releasing a game is 7 months for both Microsoft and Sony which has happened once. Second longest is Sony at 6 months which has happened twice while Microsoft had a 6 month and 5 month stretch of not releasing a game happen once. Even rating wise on Open Critic it's extremely close with Sony at an 82.4 overall rating with 19 releases and Microsoft at an 81.3 overall rating while also releasing 19 games. Only new games releasing for the first time or remakes like Demon's Souls and Age of Mythology Retold are included. No remasters or free upgrade bullshit.

Will never understand the complaints on either side.

Ask uncle Phil to bring his games to your platform, he wants to sell his games and he doesn't care.

I found the One Game song funny because it was kinda true for mainstream Sony games at the time. This just feels like Slowtaku got a bright idea four years after the fact though.

For me issue isn't if PS5 has games or not, rather if has the games I care about....Sony first party is lacking this gen in my opinion but 3rd party has all the games I need.

Ok, now remove cross-gen games. What's left?

I currently own 12 PS5 games. Of those, three are actual PS5 games. The rest are essentially PS4 games running at a higher framerate or resolution. This isn't even counting the several cross-gen games I sold off like Miles Morales or Forbidden West.

It's been four years. Imagine four years into the Nintendo DS and the majority of games are just up-rezzed single screen GBA games. This is how I feel about my PS5.

Pretty well done. Of course, it doesn't stop the fact that PS5 consoles and games are flying off shelves and this is Sony's most profitable gen, so I have no choice but to rate this one...

Including the upcoming Lego Horizon Adventures game, it increases the games Sony has released to 20. Out of the 20 games, 11 of them are current generation only. The last cross-generation game was God of War Ragnarok released in November 2022. The only games that remain cross-generation is MLB The Show which is understandable because it's a sports game on a 9 month dev cycle and making it current generation only would make no logical or financial sense for Sony.

The reason why cross-generation lasts longer is because game budgets are higher than ever and when gamers want licenses like a Spider Man for example or the best looking visuals even if they're not needed, the cost simply adds up. Include the fact that people aren't buying as many games as they did last generation due to the games now being $70 for the most part and people not upgrading to PlayStation 5.

If you're curious about the Xbox side, Microsoft will have released 22 games including the upcoming COD BO 6, Flight Simulator 2024 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Out of the 22 games, 12 games are current generation only. The last cross-generation game Microsoft published was COD MW III a year ago and like MLB for Sony, COD will be staying cross-generation for as long as it's profitable for them to do so.

While I would prefer games to be current generation only especially when the new consoles release for Microsoft/Sony, im expecting cross-generation to not only still exist but be even longer than it has been this generation. It is what it is though. As long as the games are great, the vast majority simply won't care if they're cross-generation or not.

Yeah, cross gen games don't count. I already played them on my old fat and dusty PS4. 😂

Ps5 late into the 4th year and we haven't seen no Santa Monica or Naughty Dog new game. I understand that development of Mega Triple A games takes like 6 years but come on now

Less than 100 posts/replies and this is what you’ve come up with? Good luck with your perma…but I’m sure you will be back with another alt.
