What we know about Legend of Zelda Wii prior to E3 2010

Link Hyrule waited. The fairies above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were moblins in the castle. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Princess Zelda were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway.
Link was a forest adventurer for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the swordsman and he said to dad "I want to be in the castle daddy."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY MOBLINS"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the castle of Hyrule he knew there were moblins.
"HEY" the fairy crackered. "You must fight the moblins!"
So Link gotted his palsma bow and blew up the wall.
"HE GOING TO KILL US" said the moblins
"I will shoot at him" said the darknut and he fired the rocket chickens. Link plasmaed at him and tried to blew him up. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill.
"No! I must kill the moblins" he shouted
The fairy said "No, Link. You are the moblins"
And then Link was a redead.
Well played, my friend. Well played

Personally, the comment that's interested me the most is the idea that they're switching up the dungeon-overworld structure. The first thing I think of is like, one continuous, huge dungeon, a-la Metroid. I think that would be awesome, just for one game maybe.

That was descovered on GAF like within 20 minutes of the image being posted on the internet. Analyze. Analyze. Analyze.

It's probably a GOOD thing that Nintendo has kept Zelda under wraps. Now, instead of nitpicking a few images to death for months, we can just have our minds blow in a moment of time :p

I hope the new game does away with rupee limits. Even if I can't spend them on anything worthwhile, I'd at least like to pick up the ones I come across.
Yea I was shocked to see the low limit reinstantiated after the 5000 (can't remember exactly) limit of Windwaker with the best purse.

btw. I dont quite get your outrageous reaction, minna. Take away my description of the mood, just look at the kind of gameplay I´m describing there, and I really think that´d be a great, great Zelda.

It's so simple. The hardware is there to produce the original concept art environment. Make it happen Nintendo.

God, I'd forgotten how awesome old zelda art is. That stuff wasn't in the manual right? Where was it from originally?

The object-slicing game is really great, but I really like taking on dozens of people at a time in the other. Something kind of awesome about it. My wife was watching me play it and said, "It's easy to tell that you've watched lots of samurai movies." :lol

The more you tell me about your experiences, the more I want to meet you one day and have some fun, play some games and stuff. You're such a manchild :lol.

I mean that as a compliment :p.

Also, as someone who's been learning Japanese for some time: selig, dude, you just don't type "minna".

i like how they made him cool and somewhat wise in wind waker then immediately took us back to a stupid idiot ganondorf in TP

This, TP should have started with a trip round hyrule seeing all the old places back again, but the story pirmarily should have been helping midna get back at Zant. There was no need for ganon unless you do something interesting with him.

In ocarina of time we got the ganandorf persona and in wind waker we got a closer look at his motivations as well as the paralells between himself and Daphnes.

TP it was just, I am going to sit in this catsle and not really do anything. At least when he has power in OoT he wiped out the Zora's by nuking them with magic, attempted genocide on the gorons and left castle town a reck full of carniverous zombies

How does it fell?
The not having a soul part, that is.
It's just hard for me to sit down and play the Wii due to the obvious technical issues. I am a total Nintendo fanboy at heart though so one of these days I'm going to devote a weekend to just absolutely crushing a handful of games I haven't touched yet and/or didn't finish.

Huh that's funny, the only other guy I know that always did the ´ instead of ' thing was MasterMFauli.

jesus christ i love the old art so much

what happened nintendo
Zelda had wildly different concept art over its various incarnations, it's not like Terada's take on the world was the de facto original vision or any such nonsense (although it's amazing). Just one artist's take on things.

I really hope you guys realize that isn't concept art for Zelda. It's art drawn for Nintendo Power, for A Link to the Past. Zelda used to be in a very basic anime style back in the day and actually got darker over the years.

Well, most of the above is artwork for Links Awakening and was used for the official guide that´s been released together with the game.

Anyone else have any thoughts on like, a Metroid style cohesive "Ice section lava section shadow section" one giant dungeon game?

It's funny on a meta-level how we all immediately know the brain processes behind why someone would ever choose to use "minna" and how it's so much worse than say, "amigos" or "mes amis."

Fine, what the fuck ever, I forgot how awesome CLASSIC NINTENDO POWER ART used to be, and how it existed INSIDE the magazine and not just on the covers.

Oh, I know. I was being stupid.

Still, it is not an exaggeration for me to say that I've liked the art styles less and less as time goes on. Not really a coincidence or indicative of anything. It's just true. TP and this latest thing (that sword-girl) are definitely my least favorite. U:

Although maybe Wind-Waker's whole stained-glass motif might top the OoT/MM style.

Original is definitely my favorite. Somethin' about it.

I think the series' concept art reached a low, low point with the OoT/MM stuff.

Luckily, it still produced some of the best games in the series. :D

Come on guys, let's stop the bullshit. We're all fans of the Zelda series and that's what matters. That makes us friends.
Except you Haunted. Raus!

Regardless of art, I think that Terada's vision parallels what I want out of a Zelda game.

  • Dark overall tone
  • Very difficult fights that leave you sweating all over the controller
  • Exploration of a vast overworld to find dungeons
  • A serious adult link against near impossible odds every encounter

What I don't want to see in the upcoming console version(s)

  • Young Link
  • Enemies that act like cartoon characters
  • Linear dungeon approach
  • One gimmick to hinge the whole game off of
  • Developing relationships with NPCs or doing any subquests for them. Or at least keep them optional.

I suppose many will disagree with me and that's fine. We all have our favorite version for various reasons. I just want the game to be very basic and focus on exploration, even in dungeons with no linearity. If i walk into a dungeon I happen to find, perhaps I might just get wrecked because the enemies are so tough I want to run out as fast as possible. I'll make a note of it and return later. Give me the option to mark my map where I found it and I'll return.
