What we know about Legend of Zelda Wii prior to E3 2010

Are you high? The overworld quests is by far the most satisfying in any Zelda game. Not only did the masks play an important part of the NPC structure in MM, but the masks themselves added variety to the gameplay. The most creative part about MM were the Deku, Goron, and Zora masks. You used those masks both in and out of dungeons to solve puzzles and fight enemies.

But do any of the things you mentioned make it radically different from other Zeldas? Saying a particular Zelda has better side quests or characters or whatever is quite different from saying it provided a significant fundamental structure change.

Agreed.

Too many people in here are looking for reasons not to like things. Why can't you just enjoy them for what they are?

I like some aspects of Xenoblade, but yeah. I don't mind expansive environments in games at all, but there needs to be some utility in them; they can't be there just to act as a buffer between points A and B. I can't tell if Xenoblade is going for one or the other attribute, which is why I'm on the fence. The gameplay videos seem all over the place: One will look good, while another seems empty and just lifeless.

I don't know. Weird title. I'll probably at least rent it out of curiosity.

I'll end the OT rant here, but yeah, I know what you mean. The first combat video I saw made it look like MMO combat, except even more boring, but the subsequent videos haven't been so bad. On the contrary, the first environment video was amazing and got me interested in the game in the first place, but that last gameplay video of the starting area? Ugh. So I'm on the fence like you, but I'm pessimistic to be honest. Huge 3D fields, from what I've seen these past few years, are always a bad sign for people who expect tons of content and action. Even Zelda falls prey to that issue. I mean, I really like a nice sense of scale, which Xenoblade seems to be doing really well (as opposed to Twilight Princess for instance), but not at the expense of fun. Immersion, ambiance, atmosphere, whatever you like to call them, are really great, but only when they're used the enhance the fun. They don't make the fun for me. I want to be drooling and having a fun time if I can have both, but failing that, I want the latter rather than the former.

Good man (The only one I didn't play was Spirit Tracks)

Man, it's taking to long. The wait for the Euro release og Galaxy 2 is almost here and next week E3... dang.

Same here. All the crazyness I read before a new game is released disappears in smoke whenever I start playing. No comparisons, disappointment and insane expectations, just the joy of playing a well-crafted adventure.

Who says we don't enjoy them? The Zelda series is far and away my favorite, but no game is perfect. Haven't you ever heard of constructive criticism? I criticize because I care, and I want each new game to be as good or better than the last.

If you're into "enjoying it for what it is", then go play some shitty game and enjoy it for what it is, voicing no complaints. I'll play Zelda, and yes, I will criticize where it's warranted.

Since we have talked about EVERY FRICKEN THING I can think of that is related to Zelda, might as well discuss the Zelda Informer "reveal" coming up soon dealing with LOZ Wii. They are hyping a big reveal tomorrow (not LOZ Wii related) and another one on the 14th. The one tomorrow has something to do with this picture:

And this clue:

Lets see... Nintendo... Mario... Zelda... Game Controller... E3... mix it all together and what do you got?

Here is some more "information" on the 14th reveal:

We're not revealing anything new about Zelda Wii, not until the 14th, anyways, were I reveal whats behind The Prophet of Light, as well as release ZI's official E3 Zelda Wii Predictions... and you guys can have fun with those.

I think the Prophet of Light name has a 90% chance of being bullshit (NSA said it is 100% bullshit) but..... I'll wait until the 14th to totally laugh and point my finger (the middle one) towards ZI.

Smash Bros on 3DS would truly be my game of the forever. My best friend and I are smash fanatics. Between Melee and Brawl, we've put in well over a thousand hours into Smash Bros.

lol people in the comments are saying it's a new Smash Bros. game. They're going to be really disappointed if they think we're getting another one this soon.

PLEASE be a new Smash Bros!

Fuck Zelda Informer entirely for using the goddamn Requiem for a Dream song in their teaser.

Why did I have to read this?

Edit: Hm... actually, reading that site, any enthusiasm I got has pretty much died already. I don't see something like it getting a big exclusive.

How could Zelda Informer, a fan site, reveal anything worthwhile anyway? Its not going to be a game. Probably some stupid shitty fan project.

Super Super Smash Bros Brawl' Turbo

Balance changes include:
-now EVERY character is shit (instead of mostly shit with a few broken god characters) so it balances out
-Except Snake, we tried to nerf him and he punched us through the screen

That's what I suspect as well. The potential for backlash on this is so close to E3 is huge. It's a shame too, because as far as Zelda fansites go, Zelda Informer is actually pretty good.

I mean it. Some of their feature articles are good reading - I especially enjoyed one about the links between WW and AoL and another called "The Building Blocks of Twilight Princess" (thematic/gameplay related). A lot of it is just fan speculation and over-analysis, but they do bring up stuff that's comparable to some of the bigger things you'd find in the "Video Game Facts That Blow Your Mind" thread (like some of the MM references in WW).

Their front page also isn't a total mess, unlike a lot of other fansites (though their scripts are a little buggy).

But yeah... this? It's shameless grandstanding for hits when they do actually have content worth reading.

I certainly don't trust that site, but SSB 3DS is actually quite plausible. It's about time for a portable installment.
hal hasn't done anything in a while, but sakurai's been busy with some other thing.

A portable Smash Bros would probably suck. And this is coming from someone who's played more Smash than any of you.

If there's no Gamecube controller (or at least something that resembles it, like the Classic Controller), it just doesn't feel right. At all. Anyone try playing Brawl with a sideways Wiimote? :lol

3DS will have four GameCube controller ports and HDMI out (one finger for each port.) It will be named WiiHDS and have more power than PS3 and 360 put together.

Didn't HAL make, or at least work on, Picross 3D?

And this Zelda fan site seems to be having a fun time luring in readers with a carrot on a rope approach. It's probably nothing, but I think it's all in good fun. I can't speak for everyone, but I enjoy reading well constructed fakes for funsies.
