What we know about Legend of Zelda Wii prior to E3 2010

Meltdowns. No, really, there is going to be a shit-storm if this is not shown. And it won't even be Nintendo's fault. People have already built up the expectation based on little to no evidence that it will be present. Partially because it kind of makes sense, but mostly because it's been long enough and people just want a brand new wave of Zelda.

You are sorely mistaken here, there is ample evidence that Zelda will be shown at this year's e3. People would have a right to be angry with Nintendo if Zelda is not shown.

I'm expecting that part to be filled by sales talk and Vitality Sensor this year.

So here's how I'm thinking it'll break down:

Minutes 0-60: Nintendo 3DS / DS
Minutes 61-90: Sales + Vitality Sensor / Wii Relax
Minutes 91-110: Wii
Minutes 111+: Zelda Wii
I don't think they'll start with the 3DS. It seems like a late game kinda thing. Vitality Sensor -> Sales -> Zelda/3DS

No, 3DS has to be first. It's their big tentpole to please investors, they have to lead strong.

I think the biggest rumour comes from a leak from somebody called Satoru Iwata who claimed to have insider information that Zelda Wii will be shown at E3.

But if GAF is gonna base hype on rumours, it's setting itself up for disappointment.

Yes, I totally, completely agree with you. Start strong (3DS) end strong (Zelda).

And have something cool to show following the Vitality sensor and sales pitch (i.e. an out of left field surprise).

I thought you were sick! You should definitely stay home to "get some rest" wink wink.

Twilight Princess is one of those games that gets unfounded hate, where almost every comment about the game just confuses the fuck out of you. Deal with it.
I am dealing with it. I'm calling an idiot out for being an idiot. Deal with it.

Well where during E3 2004 did Ninty reveal the DS?

Pretty early I believe. Then Iwata talked about the Revolution for about 10 minutes and then showed the Twilight Princess trailer.

Prepared for the conference.

First, oh God, the name :lol . Second, my E3 snack consists of Kettle Cooked Barbecue Chips, a fruit smoothie, and crackers with onion and chives cheese. IT'S DELICIOUS!

Sorry, but you can't say Link had expectations and at the same time say he didn't due to lack of character interaction. Link had NO expectations period, cutscene or otherwise. People thought he was a nice guy and was dependable, but only a pitiful few expect him to save the day (and even then only on a small scale). Hell, even the kids (outside Colin) never figured Link would come out of nowhere to help them. It's ironic that the most praise/expectation Link gets in the game is from the three fangirls who hang outside the S.T.A.R. game, and I figure that was likely an intentional in-joke on Link's lack of reputation...

And if anything his intentions were more realistic since he kept trudging forward for Ilia's (and then Midna's) sake rather than the Ocarina of Time path of "This is your destiny, go do it now"...

Yeah, but I don't think you got my point. I know it's difficult to explain. The point is not the amount of praise he got, but instead the relationships he had with the external world.
Since the amount of oral contacts and relationship this Link had were well inferior to Majora's Mask, the quests Link had to do were all obvious. It was a straight line to follow!
Maybe Link was not put explicitly as the hero, but he acted like it all the way.
Let me just make an improper example. Since it's improper, don't kill me. Lord of the rings: the mission of Frodo was taken as crazily difficult. The defense of Helm's deep was impossible. It is in this, extreme situations, that the hero save the day, revealing himself as the hero. Not before. AFTER.

The Link in Twilight Princess: go from dungeon A to dungeon B, then to dungeon C, which in turn is tied to dungeon D. Oh boy. Oh man. What the heck. He was not a hero. he was a workman who had to destroy a certain amount of enemies in certain places. Just tell me where the typical acting of hero was in Twilight Princess.

Guys, stop fighting.

A new Zelda is going to be announced in a few hours.

And believe me, threads following that announcement will fulfill all of your debating needs and more.

It's just koala cookies with some chocolate nougat (like nutella) in it. This combined with a random figurine like in Kinder Surprise

nintendo conferences are usually only 60-80 minutes long arent they?

i expect something more like this:

0-10: late start as always
10-30: nintendo masturbating to sales charts
31-45: 3DS shown along with upcoming DS games
46-55: wii stuff
56-60: montage
60+: gaf bitching about everything but 3DS.
51-60:

The best will be when Nintendo starts talking about Wii Party and GAF will immediately call it the worst conference ever. I love days like today. So funny.

But Link isn't considered the Hero at the beginning of Twilight Princess. He's just a normal kid who ends up having the worst day of his life by having his childhood friend kidnapped right in front of him, getting dragged into an alternate dimension where he gets turned into a wolf and is chained up, played around with by a snarky imp, gets attacked by the townsfolk as he tries to retrieve the sword and shield, and so on and so on. Link earns that title of "Hero" THROUGH his trials in the dungeons, since that's what actually makes one a hero, no? Coming out on top against extraordinary odds against monstrous foes. What you are asking for is scenes of Link directly saving people from harm, which is understandable (yet HAS been done, like Link protecting the caravan in TP), but it by no mean somehow demeans Link's deeds just because he's indirectly saving the day through his dungeon-crawling...

I don't think they're toooo popular in Germany, but they are sort of an in-the-know tip for candy lovers. And fresh out of the fridge, they're absolutely delicious on a hot summer day.

Those things got me over Nintendo's E3 conference in 2008, and that is to mean something. :lol

I don't even know if they can be found in every discounter. I only see them in Edeka and Kaufland and their co-shops (simmel, real, marktkauf)

Still without booth photos this year. I'm amazed by Nintendo's anti-leak powers :lol

Edit: Schöller Koala Milch! I loved those things when I was a kid :D

but but isn't the e3 area open for journalists right now?
I'm not sure. Perhaps they are only allowed to enter the adrium. Can someone confirm/clarify this?

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.

You could use that Penny-Arcade comic about Blizzard & Starcraft II with bombs inside people's head and change it to Nintendo & Zelda and it would still works. :lol

Well, it's still 8 here in Kansas so it's 6 in the morning in California, so it probably won't open for quite a few hours. I'd say it'll open DURING the Nintendo conference (which starts at 9 there) and then Nintendo will open up their exhibit shortly after their conference ends.
