What's your "price ceiling" for the next-gen systems?

$399. Even then they gotta have at least a couple games I want to play before I will drop that kind of money. There are still tons of PS3 games I own/want that I have not completed, so I am not in a huge rush.

Depends on the hardware.

The rumored specs at 400-500 is a steal compared to the wiiU imo, and at that point I'd probably grab 4-5 of each at launch at ebay all but one most likely 360 due to controller/live preference.

Unless they start increasing the warranties on consoles and peripherals to 5 years, I'm not sure I'm willing to spend anything on them next gen. With how unreliable and expensive they've gotten, there just aren't enough good console exclusives left to justify the spending anymore.

Depends on the hardware but I probably wouldn't go much over $599. If the hardware is lacking that money will just go to my next PC build.

I'm usually a very late adopter and buy near the end of the generation. Finally bought a ps3 on black friday for $221. I guess I could say my price is $200-300

$450 absolute. Probably $400 though. Though yeah that likely means I won't be there for launch, which is okay, because I don't plan to.

Its relative to the experience it provides.

Realistically 449 or less is an almost definite purchase, unless it really offers nothing over whats out there like WiiU.

450-599 I might only buy one console at first if both offer similar experiences and one is slightly better.

Above 600 there better be something special. If both did that, and with unique great games I would buy both.

An amazing system+amazing games might get me up to 799 or even 899 if there is nothing else out there that even comes close. But I dont know if I would buy two 800 systems at once even if the were both Amazing.

After last gen I'm going to wait at least one hardware revision. RROD scared me, and with the current lock up issues with the Wii U I think a bit of patience is prudent. Ideally the price will drop at least $100 from launch and I'll know all the positives and negatives by then.

$400 I suppose, but I don't see myself buying a launch system. I'll let the rest of you be guinea pigs. :P

$500 will be the most I'd pay unless they go way above what I expect to end up hitting these systems. Obviously if they suddenly announce a bunch of crazy sequels like shenmue, skies, beyond good and evil, banjo 3, etc, then I'd probably be easy to convince on a higher price point.

$350+

I'm actually expecting the next-gen consoles to start off at the $300 - $400 range, but I would be surprised if it didn't. Seeing all these rumored specs I don't think i can see it being $100-$200.

Well, I paid $650 total (tax included) for my PS3 back in early 2007, so I'd say about that, I guess.

I honestly can't see the system costing more than $450, honestly.

I can see Sony doing a tier like they did with the PS3 and Vita ($500 & $600 PS3 tiers, $250 & $300 Vita tiers).

A $349 PS4, and a $449 PS4, with some sort of extra for the higher priced version (maybe even a bundle of PS+ or PSN games, or some hard drive space differences: 160 for the $399 unit, and 320 for the $449 unit).

In either case, I'm not getting a PS4 or Xbox 3 this year. I probably won't get one until the middle of next year, if that soon. But then, it does depend on what games are launching with it. If they give me inFAMOUS 3, Uncharted 4, and maybe a surprise like Heavenly Sword 2 or Folklore 2, The Last Guardian, then, yeah, I'll probably snag one day one.

I didn't expect to buy a Vita day one, but after seeing how many launch titles I actually wanted (5 total, and I ended up with 5 more PSP games that day as well), I caved.

$250 for Wii U (plus a Mario pack-in). The MS and Sony consoles aren't under consideration, but I guess I'd take them for free. :)

I wonder how many people will break their price limit, if it does surpass it. Do people have the willpower to wait it out?

Not sure if serious? The Wii-U costs $349 and u expect PS4 to come out for less! hahaha

$499

£200. I ain't going to day one any home console because my laptop will probably give all of them a run for their money. Plus, I day one'd the Vita and look at how that went.

Do note that despite what people is saying here, everyone needs to get their consoles under $350 if they want to sell any kind of decent numbers, thanks to the iPad Mini.

500$ for PS4, but that would mean 500€ and that's definitely too much for me. So I'd go with 400$. But if Colony Wars is a launch title, the sky would be my limit!!

$250 is my ceiling. Unless these consoles launch with some mindblowing software, I'll be content to stick with my PS3, and PC for quite some time. I'm expecting $400 or better for these consoles. I might get weak and jump on a subscription deal on one of the new consoles. Like if they launch something where I pay $99 and a monthly fee or something.

Is it any more laughable than these people saying 350 and under? What year do they think this is?
$350 may be because they're planning to wait, and if consoles seriously don't dip below that eventually I think we'll have the most underwhelming generation sales-wise.

I also don't see it reaching $600 or even $500 simply because Sony poisoned the well for trying that. I guess they're kind of in a tough position of making a machine powerful enough to upgrade from, but cheap enough to convince the masses to buy.

... And $800's problematic because that enters "I could build a PC with this" territory: granted the console IS the simple, easy choice, but the cost advantage would be completely shot.
