What's your "price ceiling" for the next-gen systems?

Considering the PS3 was $4000 when it launched where I live, I guess I would be happy with $1500~$2000. Yeah, and people complain about $599...

$300 is my limit. If they are more than that (they will be) then I'm sitting it out till either a very attractive bundle comes along, or until that price point is met.

After this generation of overheating PS3s and RRODs, I'll never buy a console at launch again unless it's $199 - $250 and there's some games I really want to play. At $299, I start to consider building a new computer.

IMHO, given the bad economy, increased competition from Android and iOS devices, and a hunch that the console market has shrunk this gen, I believe a $399+ launch price and $60 (they might be $70 this gen) games are going to be a HAAAAAARD fucking sell.

$200 for xbox/playstation
$100 for wii u (barely any interest for this one)

Doubt I'll buy a console this generation. Between building a gaming pc, having a huge backlog from this generation, not having enough time to play what I have, and trying to be more responsible financially it doesn't make sense to me to spend much money on a console.

I can wait until prices drop and used games (granted that market exists for next gen) are cheap.

I'll probably just wait for a price drop or two before buying one unless a must have game comes out like Persona 5. If that happened then probably $500 would be the max.

I guess this depends on the launch games and how much they are.

I'm not especially comfortable with spending more than $400 dollars, but I would probably go as high as $500 if they had something amazing. I won't be buying both at launch though, regardless.

Sony and Microsoft are going to have to fight each other hard for my dollar, and I hope it's a fucking bloodbath.

400. Butttttt. If I have to pay one dollar extra to play my huge library of xbla games, I'm done. Fuck gaming, I'll take up knitting.

We'll see but Xbox Next and PS4 $449.99 LAUNCH premium Sku.

Most likely I'll wait for a really wanted launch window game and hardware revision if necessary.

I'm really hyped for this new generation... I didn't even get a PS3 this gen and have been really happy with my 360 but this new one I'll probably get both.

If they raise the price of games above $59.99USD, I won't buy either console, until many years later. It is nice getting almost anything I want for the PS3 for $20 or half off on PSN titles in sales :)

If they stay at current standard prices, or go to a better stratified pricing model (I can only dream), than I'd be willing to spend $400USD before taxes. Maybe $500 if it's a really spiffy SKU (or includes an interesting game). Will likely choose the PS4, but we'll see.

Another idea bopping around in my head, is that I'll stick to primarily PC gaming, along with my handhelds. Plus, I'll buy a WiiU if enough interesting stuff actually comes out and there's a price reduction or bundle at some point.

Either of these is what I'll probably do:
1) Build new PC within next year and a half. Buy WiiU upon price drop et al. Keep handheld gaming too.
2) Buy PS4 if price is not insane and it has 2+ good launch titles. Ignore PC's waning performance for as long as possible, and continue playing handhelds.

If I were to buy one at launch, I think my ceiling would be $399. Reasoning:

+$399 (system)
+$60 (game)
+13% tax (Ontario)
= $518.67

That's about as high as I'd be willing to go.

450€ for Nextbox or Ps4 and 499$ for SteamBox if it will be a powerful pc(I will put windows on it too)

I won't buy all the consoles but NextBox or Ps4 at launch then later in the future Steambox if it will be a good product.

$450.

I'm not rich, dammit, but I want my next-gen machine.

The money isn't the issue for me. The biggest issue is going to be how they handle used games. If the rumors are true that games you buy will be linked to your profile, then screw console gaming again. I have a great PC for gaming.

Personally I dont see it coming under $400, it'll be a big megaton if either Durango/Orbis meets this price without a severely crippling SKU.

Expecting $150-$250: Wii U owners probably or people completely uninterested in Durango/Orbis
Expecting $300-$400: Will probably join the second wave, after price-cuts
Expecting $400-$500: Probably the right idea
Expecting $500-$600: PS3 Launch Adopter confirmed
Expecting $600+: Jelly

$1000

I'd pay it for a high-end PC, no reason why I wouldn't do the same for the centerpiece of my living room.

I'd have to save up for like a year lol
