At exactly what point did they become NOT huge?
When MS announce something Halo-related in every single E3
At exactly what point did they become NOT huge?
apparently they won it last year...or at least beat Sony
You're joking right... E3 was when Sony unveiled that they were going to support used games as a response to all the DRM restrictions of the Xbone.
That and they were pumping out interesting games minute after minute, heck the FF15 and KH3 were shown on the Sony Conference.
As of now, Microsoft has seemingly made such huge announcements pre-E3, you have to wonder what they have saved for the conference itself.
Who would they be able to moneyhat?
EA partnership ... Mass Effect 4 exclusive for 1 year (similar to Mass Effect 1)
game wise MS had a better showing

I've seen a playthrough of Shadow of the Colossus. The game was.... empty? I don't know how to say it but it was nothing special in my opinion.
Halo 5, Quantum Break, and that one Project creator game? What else was there?
Sony completely swept E3 last year with its announcement of support for used games... was I watching the same conference as you guys? :s

After how many potential copies EA lost by not putting Titanfall on Ps4, i can't see them giving another exclusive to MS.

Wow, I can't believe it's already been 20 years since The Last Guardian was announcedA good way to bring a surprise at things like E3 is to tie it to a milestone or achievement. Like a 20th anniversary or something.
All the recent Shenmue talk makes me want to say Sega. I'll go with MS since they're in relaunch/rebuild mode for X1. Second place MS is best MS.
it depends how much money to secure the exclusivity ... plus EA knows they will eventually reap the benifits when it's realsed on the PS4 as well ... from a business perpective this makes sense
I'm surprised by the amount of people expecting big surprises from Sony. TLG shouldn't be a surprise at this point, we know it's a PS4 game. And we know about Uncharted.
GG hinted that we won't be seeing their game at E3, Santa Monica just cancelled a project they've been working on for years and are getting "rebooted", Media Molecule's title might appear, although they're still hiring for a crucial position.
I'd say it's going to be Nintendo > Microsoft > Sony when it comes to surprises at this E3.
While I don't disagree that PS4 may have had better games announced in e3 2013, you're argument really doesn't pertain to game announcements.
I don't understand the worries. Why is it a bad thing that they aren't running to Twitter and saying "Our E3 is going to be awesome" weeks before the event? They already hyped it up a few months ago. This begs one simply question: WHY?
Why is Sony so reticent and taciturn? I don't see why they've been so hesitant to be more forthcoming.
Are they trying to withhold their big secrets or is there truly nothing behind the curtain and they are just trying to conceal something that isn't there.

Yeah, I was going to say...MS, at least, has some kind of distant history with the series, but Shenmue has never been mainstream material which is why it was perfect for being a first party-driven title meant to broaden its exclusive software library and show off the platform capabilities. If Shenmue III ever does happen, my first thought is that it's going to be a multiplatform release across PC and consoles. Sega should know by now that the name, anyway, has a much greater profile than ever, so it makes less sense to tie it down when they could be making money on the re-releases or remasters of the older games while building a fresh base of users who could support a modern sequel that, to match the old games and do the series justice, demands a hefty budget that may never be recouped on a single platform just as the old games apparently never did.Shenmue would bomb pretty hard on the X1. Actually, I don't think Shenmue would sell all that well on the PS4 either.
How so? Do you really need me to list all the new IPs that Sony annouced during the show as a comparison to the paltry four titles (with one of them being a continuation of an existing popular franchise, Halo 5) that was shown in the MS conference?
Could you actually? Sony had a pretty weak conference that was covered up by the no DRM and $399 price. The only games I actually remember from Sony's conference were FFXV and KHIII, and at this rate, those won't be out for years. I know general consensus was Sony dominated, and I myself thought that too. But after getting a PS4, I realized they didn't actually do anything substantive. They talked about having hundreds of games in development, but I haven't really seen them. Yeah they have a ton of indies, and PS+ is great, but a lot of the indies are multiplats. I still love them, but exclusive-wise, looking back MS had a better conference. Project Spark, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, they had a solid showing.
But as for the question at hand, realistically? Probably MS since they've been going hard lately. Maybe Sony if they feel threatened but I'd bet on MS. But hypothetically who could have the biggest E3 surprise? Nintendo, always Nintendo. They have the talent and IPs dormant to dominate any E3 with megatons. They just don't usually follow through

They didn't announce many games at E3 because they announced some at their PS4 reveal event (MS used their reveal event to highlight the features and vision). That's something many people tend to forget. Another thing to consider is that they announced games at every event throughout the year.Could you actually? Well, they aren't in the FPS or TPS genre and we haven't heard much from them lately. Just to inform people of some of the things they announced besides The Order, Uncharted, and Driveclub:Other than The Order and The Last Of Us, I honestly can't recall any near-upcoming exclusives for PS4.
Microsoft announced Quantum Break and Forza 5 at their reveal event, IIRC.

I'm not sure if I like Microsoft's "use E3 for all of the game announcements in the next 12 months" approach. It makes every other event less exciting when it comes to surprises.
As it's a surprise you can't expect it...
"I knew they were going to surprise us!" Well then it's not a surprise.

Ubisoft is a joke. They put out games that would be amazing in a better developers hands, but instead we get mediocre games in AAA packaging.Ubisoft.
They will win another E3.
