Why are you not playing Resident Evil 4 right now?

And if so, why are you denying yourself to play through one of the best Action/Horror games ever made? Did people not play this classic, or have they forgotten about how good it actually is?

Not only does the game hold up, the remake is top notch at rebuilding the game from the ground up and is still an instant classic.

With a 93 ranking on Metacritic for the PS5 version, I can't help but wonder if people don't realize this is one of the greatest games ever made.
Because I hear Yahtzee didn't like it.

already played the original, and i suuelly don't spend money to play the same game twice.

It probably has modernized gameplay and it's not the exacxt same game, but contrary to re2 and 3, the original seem close enough

Because I'llbe able to buy it for £20 by Christmas and I already have a backlog too long for anybody with a full time job.

Can the people saying they played the game years ago please stop.

You didn't play the game years ago, you come off as a total salty pleb with comments like that.

I didn't even act that way towards the DS remake.

Just say you're fine with the OG and leave it at that, it's totally valid and reasonable to feel that way.

I don't pay full-price for vidya, especially now in the age of Gamepass. Gamepass has let me focus on my backlog/games I've missed that I can emulate. Of course, I make a few exceptions: Hollow Knight 2, any From Software game, a new Devil May Cry. Other than those, I'll wait for 50% off or better.

I'm not playing it now because I'm smart enough not to get ripped off full price for old content in a new coat of paint and I'm waiting for a deep sale.

Already beat it on the GameCube so I'm in no rush I'm sure it will be fun though

I am playing remake 3 right now funnily enough

Playing the original on PC with the incredible texture mod and various other improvements.

My plan was to play it first (haven't played through it since 2007 or so) and then buy the remake, but damn. It looks amazing enough already!

This is a new game, but I can't help you if you actually believe this is the same game that was released 18 years ago.
If I know whats going to happen at the end of the game, and every boss encounter there is, and how the game is generally going to be paced...then its not a NEW game. No.

The amount of people here that are saying "I already played it years ago."

They're entitled to their opinion. Weird it may be.

I am playing it (but I'm at work right now)
But yeah, all the problems I had with the original are fixed here(other then it being RE4)
But they have changed it up enough that I can actually call it a Resident Evil game now.
It's easily my GOTY so far and would of been last years too if it released earlier.

Because gaming wise, I'm re enjoying The Evil Within instead! Such a brilliant modern survival horror game. It has that handcrafted feeling that's missing from most games today. It is probably the closest I'll ever get to having a full game's take on Resident Evil 3.5 with effects like tints and fades being prominently featured within it

All of y'all trying to be cute by saying you already played it years ago, are fucking mental and not cute
I hope this wasn't directed at me and the others who said "I already played the original". It's a valid reason, we're not shitting on the remake.

Hated the demo, gameplay was worse than the original and more restrictive.
As others mentions the image quality is also soft and blurry.

I actually recommend playing it if you played the original.
There's part's which are obviously new because I don't remember any of it and I have played the shit out of RE4.
and even the stuff that is replicated is different.
It's cool and a bit of a Wow moment when you recognise stuff but it's been completely re-envisioned, everything you expect has been changed, the stuff you can do and the way you play as been expanded.
The old dog has learnt new tricks

Nah, probably not cause that's why I mentioned the DS remake. I still own the OG and it's still good enough for me so I wasn't really interested in the DS remake. I 100% get why some people aren't interested in the RE4make.

All my jabs are playful in nature though, so anyone who takes the time to read this, just take all my posts as being written in jest for the most part. Sometimes you gotta get rough and lob some bombs to get the thread fired up. 😅

I also have some genuine buddies here and wouldn't want to lump them in with my shit talking and offend them.

At the end of the day we're all nerds/enthusiasts. It's all for shit and giggles with me. 👍

humbug.
Can you parry attacks in the original? no you get sawed in half.
Can you crouch attacks in the original? no you get stabbed in the neck.
Can you strafe away from thrown weapons or crossbow bolts? no you get a clean headshot.

I noticed the only two games I have liked so far this year have been RE4 and deaspace remake. Basically, old games.
