Odallus: The Dark Call- 8 bit action/adventure title with Wii U stretch goal. Looks like a game I would stare at in Nintendo Power back in the day. Hope the game turns out well and the Wii U stretch goal is hit.

Overview:

In search for the Ultimate Power, a Dark Lord and his wretched army are ravaging a once peaceful land, destroying villages and leaving no good soul alive. To put a stop to this carnage, the warrior named Haggis must wield again his already bloodstained blade and chase down the Dark Lord. Odallus is the story of Haggis’ pursue in the format of a dark fantasy classic game.

Odallus is a NES inspired exploration game with lots of action. It will be divided in stages, but there is no one-way-only in Odallus and levels have many paths, including to other levels. However, all paths in Odallus are infested by dangers and demons to which Haggis must be always watchful.
We expect to release Odallus in mid 2014.

Pace:

We have been describing Odallus as an action exploration game and we really mean it. Action is important in all of our games, and in Odallus this is present with a lot of different enemies and mechanics; there is always something to be done. However, if you played out previous game Oniken you may be expecting the frenetic kind of action we did on that game and, I assure you, that is not our intention with Odallus! Odallus is about a more Castlevania and Ghosts'n Goblins like action than a Contra and Oniken one.

Exploration will be present in each stage on Odallus. Stage progression will be linear as in most classic Castlevanias, but stages themselves will have multiple paths. In addition to this, Haggis will find new gear and upgrades along his way, which may result in opening new ways in previous stages.

8-Bit Art:

We have been working with pixel art for quite a while on JoyMasher's games and one of our favorite pixel art styles ever is NES 8bit. We have tried this style before on Oniken and Major Maox, but it never felt so right as in Odallus.

We used NES original color palette in all in-game graphics and most game's art and communication. Also, most of Odallus graphics respect NES' limitations for color and size of each image. Despite all these self imposed restrictions, we are confident Odallus recreates a antique and macabre atmosphere, something as Brave Heart and Highlander meets Evil Dead. Or just a Celtic 8bit game of Berserk. Our main inspiration for this sort of environment was Demon's Crest.

Core Gameplay Features:

Non-linear levels
Sharp controls
Five different areas
Rad 8-bit graphics (their wording, not mine)
Filled with hordes of demons
Thrilling atmosphere
Huge bosses

That's a lot of platformers. Is that primarily what indie games are? The easiest type of game to make with a handful of people? No third person games? Racing? First person? Or do those exist but just take longer to make?

There is no story mode in Nano Assault Neo like the original 3DS game correct?

I'm in the fence about Nano Assault. I generally don't like twin stick shooters (I don't like Super Stardust). Is Nano Assault not for me, or is it different than the other twin stick shooters?

I'd say it's not for you if you disliked Super Stardust. Depends on specifically what you disliked about Super Stardust though.

I don't like Super Stardust either, but I love Nano Assault. Finished the game on 3DS and am working through the Wii U version, which is also beautiful. The difficulty ramps up pretty good toward the end, but that just makes it more exciting.

Is there a demo you can try? But seriously, Nano Assault is good fun.

I just downloaded Star Wars Pinball, feels great so far. I'm glad it was standalone as I don't have any tables for Zen.

Just checked the eshop to see if theres something to play with a decent price.

didnt find anything for me.
on the 'eshop only' front, no games that i want
as for retail games on eshop, they all keep the original incredibly expensive $60 price tag
Only Assassins Creed 3 is $40. But i played AC1 and hated it

oh steam prices, where are you (answer: on steam)

Liege, "a modern re-imagining of the classic 16-bit RPG", (Kickstarter currently at $46,634 with 4 days left) could come to the Wii U. The Wii U stretch goal was added today. The Kickstarter has to reach $51,000 for a Wii U version of the game. The update announcing the stretch goal also more or less confirms the $3,000 cost of a Wii U dev kit.

Edit:
According to the Edge article "Indies on Wii U" Red Thread Games is aiming to release Dreamfall Chapters on Wii U.

Edit2: Also here.

I've updated the initial list to letter P
I'd like to complete the preliminary update to the end (Z) within few days
after that I'll update with your recent new games, and I'd like to put under the "new release" banner at least Cloudberry Kingdom (August 1), Pokemon Scrumble U (August 18) and possible other incoming game, considering that I will not update the thread during August

Do we know how well eShop games have done so far? I know a few have been happy with sales but what about everyone else? Any word from the makers of The Cave, Little Inferno, Puddle, etc? Have Renegade Kidd, Gaijin Games or Wayforward commented on their sales?

No firm numbers yet, but the few comments we have were positive. Don't think that, always considering the install base, we should be too afraid of the incoming indie support (maybe the opposite, looking at all the games that get kickstarter wii u stretch goals, the comments on Adelman, on Nintendo efforts to provide freedom and tools to indies and so on)

Shin'en will reveal 2 new Wii U eShop games this fall. One will release at the end of the year, the other one in 2014. They also might port a 3DS game, probably Jett Rocket II.

Shin'en once again said they'd be open for a Wii U eShop version of Jett Rocket II if the fans wanted it.
“We originally didn’t plan a Wii U version of JR2 but since we connected a 3DS devkit to a TV to capture some footage we realized the game would work great on the big screen. So if fans really ask for it we would be happy to go for it.”

Seems a lot of these guys want to develop on Wii U just for the feeling of having an 8bit-style game on a Nintendo console.

Will I be able to play DuckTales Off-TV Play?

Also a little off, but are there only NES/SNES VC games out on Wii U?

(I almost just got a Wii U)

Some details on TNT Racers: Nitro Machines Edition:

“We are very sure that the Nitro Machines Edition is the best TNT Racers game to date,” Röpke remarked, supporting this by saying that much attention was paid to “polishing the camera system, the learning curve, the AI, and the general progression system for unlocking new speed classes, tracks and cars.” Other features include a newly-added Tournament Mode, as well as “all the DLC content from all the older versions,” BeefJack learned. The team’s hope is that “hundreds of hours of fun gameplay” await players in the new Wii U eShop title.

Also a Trailer for Cubemen 2 and some interesting information from the description:

The first cross-platform multiplayer indie game on Wii U.

Control your army of Cubemen in this fast-paced 3D strategy game. Enter online matches and create and share user-generated levels regardless of platform. Battle against other payers who own Cubemen 2 on Wii U, PC, Linux, Mac or iOS.

Can be played in single player mode or with up to 6 players in online solo or team battles against other players or AI. Wii U players will have access to over 4,000 user-generated levels created since the release of the game on other platforms.

Cubemen 2 also includes specific level themes, customisable Cubemen skins and a global ranking system.

Expected to be released late 2013 / early 2014 as a downloadable title on the Wii U in the US, Europe, Australia & New Zealand. Price to be announced.

Edit:
Will I be able to play DuckTales Off-TV Play?

Also a little off, but are there only NES/SNES VC games out on Wii U?

This interview seems to imply Off-TV Play for DuckTales Remasterd.
The Wii U GamePad in Ducktales Remastered will be used to view the map, and will have full remote play features.

Yes only NES and SNES for now. N64 and GBA have been confirmed. You should also take a look at this thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=545648

BiT: Evolution (Goal: £9,000, Wii U Stretch Goal: £20,000)
‘BiT: Evolution’ is a modern-retro platformer that pays homage to video gaming from the 1970’s and 80’s. The game is single player and follows the story of the main character, ‘BiT’. This character starts the game as a simple puck from a video game version of hockey who finds his way outside his world and into the realm of code; A mysterious place found between game levels. There, he explores multiple platformers and game types, with the visual aesthetic of each game evolving with time. BiT also evolves by learning new techniques on his adventures, upgrading himself with new code.

The basic game will consist of 4 styles inspired by the Atari 2600, the Commodore 64, NES and SNES. Each aesthetic will have a selection of levels, with the Atari only having 5 but the NES/SNES having more. Each level will have it’s own ‘Realm of Code’ section which the player can enter in order to progress. We also have some mockups of the other visual styles.

Looks and sounds quite interesting.
