I'm still going to pick up my launch system at the end of the month, like a fucking sucker

.
The thing about all the points you cited is that only the issue with account binding and the poor quality of the bigger 3rd party launch ports are the really serious issues.
How many people having a shit at Nintendo's expense are those using the system right now, and, crashes aside, hating the experience? Most of the people I've talked to (including through Miiverse - imagine that) don't give a shit about the laundry list of everything supposedly critically fatal.
Frankly, I've been enjoying it all day. Am I an idiot with low standards? I dunno. I built a good gaming PC and keep Windows clean because I like nice things. Slow primary app switching aside so far, I am finding the system a lot of fun to just plain use. Miiverse is great. The gamepad is a lot of fun. Everyone bitching about the "low" resolution, whatever - the actual quality of the screen looks great to me.
Came back on GAF after all day, and find that apparently this is the worst game console of all time, Nintendo has proven they don't deserve to be in the industry, etc. Bullshit. Don't buy into the launch day panic, backlash, "now is our chance to eviscerate Nintendo" shit that's bound to be flying around.
Account issues are a problem for the future, not hurting anyone this moment - but it has to be taken care of. Priority item #1.
Aside from that, some further OS nips and tucks, related to expanding the chat application and app loading.
Not even going to get into this stuff about networks stability - it's ridiculous to castigate Nintendo this fast when everyone's network has shit the bed during epic launches, holidays, and because, well, going down for months due to hacking.
Anyone got any impressions on how Wii games look on the Wii U? Any improvement at all?
Short of it: Native Wii U games I've played - NSMB U, NintendoLand, Nano Assault Neo - look extremely crisp, 720p or not. Really good lighting and shadows, great textures. Great IQ. 3rd party launch ports vary; Sonic Racing Transformed has parity with the other consoles except more stable / locked framerate, maybe a bit better lighting. Some of the other bigger 3rd party games have performance issues.
