Can you do this while playing NSMBU in multiplayer mode or any other game when you don't want to play with the gamepad?
we know we can only use wiimotes in that mode (NSMBU) so I'm just wondering this to save some gamepad battery

Soo, is this multi-tasking of internet browser and gameplay one reason the OS has so much dedicated memory?

Mine, too! I'm on level 60 (%). Took me about 35 minutes to get there.

That's about where i'm at. The update doesn't seem to be as bad as yesterday (or maybe I just knew what to expect). It's not like i'm dying to play Nintendo Land. Mario comes on Wednesday, Tekken and my pro controller haven't even shipped, and my gamefly wii u games are in the mail.

Soon....

Yes

If you are considering one, either go cheap (scour Craigslist etc, look for ones tha people are selling because they upgraded to 3D etc), or get a HDMI 1.4 compatible one so you're future proofed.

My Yamaha 767 (old model) is awesome because I can switch HDMI inputs even when it is switched off. Very family friendly when my wife just wants to watch TV without messing about with a receiver

Yamaha 473 for $349 is an awesome bit of kit. Built in AirPlay too. http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-RX-V473-5-1-Channel-Network-Receiver/dp/B007JF85VU

OK. Cool. Yeah, I know all this stuff (I work in the A/V industry). I'm just realizing that I'll need to get a new AVR next gen.

Mine just finished, and I am running through the initial setup. Had a good laugh at creating my Mii via photo, haha. Kind of insulting what it came back with.

I have a huge issue that Nintendo needs to fix. I'm playing NSMBU with wiimotes and went to miiverse to check for my messages and you can't navigate the miiverse menus with the wiimotes.

There was some weird stuff like that with the Wii as well, I don't think GameCube controllers worked on the main menu and I'm pretty sure at one point Classic Controllers didn't work very well either, but I may be wrong on that.

I had figured, perhaps foolishly, that Nintendo would lock known exploits down now that they have practice with actually making a comprehensive underlying OS layer.
Not so easy I guess and why devote resources to a basically lost cause? Just box it away and make sure exploits aren't used to open up the new system.

I just saw a first WiiU TV spot (the UK ZombiU one, but in german and with a less annoying voice) in german televesion.

My hype is rising, also with yesterdays meltdowns in my had.

Also saw a Gamestop with zero advertising for the WiiU today, but it is ok, german Gamestop is sold out of WiiUs

same. Starting to see lots of cute custom miis and fantastic artwork.

yeah very cute miis and also some games only have 2-3 miis under them lol while others have a massive amount crowded under the icon O_o I guess we can see which games are being talked about the most

Batman is one of the 2 mii games lol

How long did you use the pro controller? I want some detailed impressions, stat! And how does Tekken for the Wii U hold up?

I used it for about 20 minutes before my hand started cramping :(

I feel as if the controller is too wide in comparison to the 360 controller. The buttons being placed where they are doesn't help at all. Tekken is similar to the PS360 versions so there's not much to say about that. The only problem I had was it locking up while loading. It's only happened once so far but the game itself is awesome.

Uh, so where's the Wii U club nintendo code and what does the card look like? I don't see anything in my package. There's a single card that has the Club Nintendo label, but there's no code there. It's more like an advert.

Any impressions on any of the eShop titles? I didn't want to buy any until I finish NSMB U but it would be nice to know what to look forward to.

I think once you link your club nintendo account to your wii u account then it should automatically register it for you.

anyone else having issues with surround sound? I have an hdmi 1.4 receiver, but I'm not getting sound from the back speakers in my only game, nsmbu. I ran the test from the settings menu and my receiver shut down. I dont have any other games to test on wiiu, but pc games are fine. It still sounds really good but I only hear sound from the sub, front, and center.

Really not sure what game to get. I bought Black Ops II and haven't opened it yet, but the Nuketown thing is making it hard for me to actually keep it; not because I really care about Nuketown, but just the philosophy behind them yanking it. Also the shadows/lighting thing that's kinda fugly. I would like to finally play Assassin's Creed III, but between the negativity and the fact that the PC version should be better it's making it difficult for me to even consider that (and the fact that none of the other games are on Wii U).

Ninja Gaiden 3 seems alright but there's conflicting reports about that too, that this version is better but that the game overall just isn't that good regardless of the upgrades and the fact that they failed to boost the performance at all (still some slowdown, perhaps more). I don't know much about Scribblenauts so it doesn't seem like a safe enough bet for me, and the footage I've seen doesn't interest me. I actually wouldn't mind Mass Effect 3 if it weren't for the fact that, like AC3, none of the other ME games are on Wii U, at least not yet and my OCD has a problem with not being able to have every part in the series on the same console.

That leaves... Tekken Tag, ZombiU, and other things I'm not terribly interested in. Fighters don't give me a lot of mileage as I'm very bad at them and thus grow bored very quickly, and ZombiU just looks kind of cheap/generic.

I HATE VIDEOGAMES CONFIRMED

There isn't a code. Whenever you first go onto the eshop they will ask you to link your club nintendo account there. The survey should pop up on your club nintendo a few hours later

This might be dumb advice, but you did go into the Wii U menu and check that it actually was set to surround and not stereo (maybe the test didn't work?)

As an FYI, I mentioned in the other thread after linking mine it didn't show up, even after waiting over a day. I removed my Club Nintendo account and redone it a couple of times and it finally took. If you don't show the survey, then try re-linking the account a few times.

haha its so weird i spend more time drawing on all sections the playing games

To be honest, it shows the potential of what Nintendo is trying to do here. Just wait until they make these features available on PC's, Tablets, and mobile platforms :)

There's only one Wii U Deluxe left in stock at my local K Mart. The only other Deluxes are at Target, but two people have them on preorder and haven't come in yet. In fact, there's no Wii U Basics in town either! I live in a small college town of 25,000 btw, so there isn't too much worry of someone taking the K Mart one before me.

It's sooo tempting, but I have no money right now...Maybe I can earn a little extra in the next week.

Also, personally, I recommend blops 2 to the guy the above poster askin about the game.

Despite the bullshit concerning Nuketown it really does seem like the best way for me to go personally. I think I'll just keep it, not to mention most of these launch titles will drop in price soon enough.

Buy now, and live on the edge!

Transferring my data from my Wii now, and watching the pikmin carry my data into my Wii U is the most adorable thing ever.

It's only adorable until you find out that you won't be able to launch any VC/WW games from the SD card anymore after you transfer them (no, not even after redownloading) and are stuck with the OG Wii's crappy original allocation of system memory. I'm going to call Nintendo customer service to make sure I'm not missing something but as it stands now, it would be appear those cute Pikmin are actually stuffing your games back into a brand new fridge instead of a rocket.

Edit: My post from the data transfer thread for reference:

Is that supposed to happen when you update the firmware or does that just happen randomly?

"Randomly" - I read about it here, booted up my system, and it was still the old app icons and Nintendo placeholder messages. I then turned the system off again and back on, and this time I had real games and real people. Now I'm loving the plaza.

You can't seem to move old Miis from your Wii by storing them in the remote... unfortunate. I'm resisting doing the system transfer because I want my Brawl data on a machine with controller ports, but I don't want to sit through my friends remaking their Miis over the next couple of days...

How is audio handled? Eg if I plug headphones into my amp, the gamepad will still be making noises right? I can turn that down, but then might be missing audio cues (eg batman has radio chatter through the gamepad not the TV)

Or in that situation should I just plug my headphones into the gamepad? Any loss of quality doing that?

Really not sure what game to get. I bought Black Ops II and haven't opened it yet...

It's awesome man. I'm not CoD veteran but the game runs really well online and playing from the bed/bathroom wherever online on the gamepad is phenomenal.

Join me/friend me if you decide to play it!

Nano Assault Neo is great if like really polished/replayable shooters. Challenging with online leaderboards and it looks fantastic. Gamepad play is great.

Yay Warawara Plaza actually has Miiverse stuff now and Miiverse loads really quickly compared to yesterday. Nice to see Nintendo ironing things out.

Just got my wii-u about 30 minutes ago and it's updating! Hype mode engaged! I only picked up Mario for now in case by some chance some BF deals pop up on amazon or something.

Anything i should know about while updating?

Had 3 hardlocks today in Nintendoland while playing with a friend, but damn, Nintendoland and ZombiU multiplayer are fantastic. My friend left saying he's gotta get a WiiU for his family. We played most every Nintendoland game, and they all have a surprising amount of depth. ZombiU is ridiculously fun either as a Survivor or Zombie King, sending wave after wave of zombies (especially the explosive ones) after a Survivor trying to capture a flag is frantic and hilarious.

Sure thing. I'm still slightly on the fence about it, just weighing options here. I've also considered returning it and getting funds for the eshop but I have no idea when the store is going to update with any downloadable titles I want (not talking retail, fuck buying digital $60 games).

The first time I ever used a Wii back in 2006, I was smitten with Miis and motion controls, and I told everyone that would listen that these were a "big thing" that Microsoft and Sony would also adopt (said the same things about Achievements in 2005).

Using Miiverse the last two days, this is a "big thing" that will be in every console going forward. Miiverse, more than any other aspect of the console including the Gamepad, makes the Wii U feel "next" gen to me.

I like Miiverse lol.
