I got a Wii U from BestBuy (in Canada), and now i'm sort of having buyers regret. So can I open it, without opening Nintendoland ? Like will they give me any trouble? Or should I just return it?

There will be no trouble.. but if you're having regret, don't open anything. Just return it. Don't worry though, you could open everything, lose all the ties and baggies, play it and then return it. Just make sure you have all the components in the box.

Anyone got any Darsksiders impressions? I really enjoyed the first one. Can't decide between that or Tekken for my final launch game next week.

Darksiders 2 is installing as we speak. I bought Ninja Gaiden 3 and Tekken at retail. Both are awesome games... can't speak about Darksiders yet.

I must be the only one who likes all the 3D Zeldas. Yes, really.

Well, Majoras Mask has a special place in my heart, though.

Definitely not alone on that one. I prefer them immensely over the 2D ones. Actually I don't like any top down Zelda game. That's a bias from the SNES days though... everyone played Zelda and I was a Super Metroid whore and would argue about it all the time.

Fought the first boss of Metroid Blast today. That and the Zelda game both sure take their time ramping up, but it's actually starting to get pretty cool.

Confirmed today that my local Game is doing a midnight launch. I'm surprised, cos I live in the middle of nowhere. And I'm super pleased cos it means I can get that update downloaded whilst I sleep.

So I went into my ISP's account management page to check out the actual size of the Wii U Firmware update from Monday. It isn't 5GB. Total size of the OS AFTER the patch is 5GB. I only downloaded three things on Monday the 19th - the Wii U system update, an update for New Mario and an update for Zombi U. My total usage for that day was 1.9GB.

I've probably been beaten, but this was confirmed. Update is about 1GB.

Hasn't stopped various news sources still reporting 5GB though :)

Nintendo Land is horrible......none of the single player games are any fun to me. Haven't tried multiplayer games yet.

It's the perfect example of showing what proper Miiverse integration should look like. Unfortunately I doubt any third party is going to give enough of a damn about the Wii U to put that much effort into Miiverse integration. DK, Pikmin, and Yoshi are fun little games, but asking 60 dollars for Nintendoland is pure Nintendo. It's a 20 dollar game at best.

And with a little luck, we don't have to pay twice for content we already own.

One can hope.

It'll be interesting to see how Nintendo treats the wii VC stuff if they offer WiiU compatible versions of all that. This will be the first time we see how digital content from a previous gen is carried over to a new console.

I have a ton of stuff on Live and wouldn't be shocked if they make us buy everything again.

I played about an hour of it and it seemed pretty good. There seem to be some weird camera angle glitches where it won't switch to the correct angle by itself, but besides that, I think it's looking good. The combat is fast and fluid, the graphics look nice, the framerate is good, and Death is badass.

I'm in the middle of Paper Mario and Batman AC, so I'm not really going to play it right now.

Even basic movement/looking around the environment isn't fun. Too bad there is no pointer aiming in single player. I think I'm just too used to pointer aiming that it has become unexeptable for me to play that way.

Anyone feel the same?

Yes. Buy Black Ops to support pointer aiming!

Is Batman worth picking up, or is it victim to shitty port syndrome?

Don't do it. According to reviews and impressions, it's sadly the worst of the three console versions :( It might be worth it when the price drop on it.

edit: If you don't already own it for another console, it doesn't seem to be a horrible version. I already own it on PS3 and PC...

My wife is playing Kirby Epic Yarn right now and the game looks beautiful. Granted, I understand that the game was created differently from your usual Wii title (kudos to the devs for using real fabric images to help create this title) but this game looks great. When she's done, I'm going to try Skyward Sword. So far, I'm pleased with how the Wii titles are looking on the Wii U and my HDTV.

After a few hours use the game pad that came with the deluxe looks filthy. I can't image what this thing is going to look like after a drunken party or regular use from kids.

@TwEE-N-Toast you know you can just clean the gamepad, I do and it feels good man :3

I am seeing a hell of a lot more Miis under game icons that use to be pretty sparse build that userbase!

So if I can't get my TV to sync with the GamePad I am just shit out of luck right? Went through 28 different signals and none of them worked. Guess I should have known it would happen, we weren't able to get the remote for our cable box to sync with the TV either.

I am not sure if my gamepad remote is synced well at all. I can use the power button and input but when I hit input I am not sure what to use to scroll down

I am sure some TVs are as you say shit out of luck

edit: Found how to change my input channel - each of them are numbered 1-8 all I had to do was hit a number on the gamepad to change from different input connections. :)

Glossy piano finishes are the fucking worst. I can tolerate it on the console, but why on the controller too?

It'll look like someone ate a bucket of chicken while playing with it.

The Wii U doesn't come with a sensor bar holder like the Wii does right? Guess I'll have to reuse my old Wii one. I haven't tried playing Wii games yet, but how do I sync the wiimotes? The same way as the Wii U pad?

what really bothers me is that they know it's a fingerprints magnet... otherwise he wouldn't have used gloves in that video...

A Sanyo (40" I think). Got it cheap only just about a year ago. But like I said, I have had issues syncing other remotes with it (have to use the TV remote for volume/input and the cable box remote to control channels).

i hope i won't have any problem with my almost 11 years old samsung...
