I was going to be full digital but decided against it after the news about accounts being tied to consoles surfaced. I know it's not that big of a deal, but to have to send in my console each and every time it develops a fault, even if I have a store warranty is something that I'd very much prefer to avoid.

a shame really, I bought a 1tb hard drive in preparation of going digital before the news broke.

So after 30 days (probably max for your store warranty) are you going to go full digital?

Didn't knew this, motivation level up!

Hopefully the place I heard it is reliable! That's a huge thing for me too considering the extent of the unlockables now. There's some things at like 3 million ninpo and that seems Chicago Typewriterish at this point...

Same. I'd love to be able to just tap a game and play it, but being tied to the console itself makes it a no go. Just not worth it. They need to tie it to the account itself like Sony and Microsoft have done.

I'm no NG pro but the game is challenging and satisfying. The pacing is also pretty great and there's a lot of content, seemingly.

Also heard that new game+ is confirmed and that you can move difficulties on subsequent playthroughs.

Good stuff I am going to suck at this I know ( Luigi is not going to come out and fight for me )

Momiji Trailer sold me

but I want more players too

Is playing Wii games on the Wii U acceptable? No weird shit or irritating flaws? I always intended on playing DS games on the 3DS but talk of iffy emulation always put me about.

At the very least I want to play the Galaxy games.

Isnt it more to do with NSMB wii being such a big seller on the wii?

Probably. I'm not saying it's a bad game, I'm having fun with it and enjoy the challenge mode stuff. It's just not as special of a console debut as SMW or Mario 64. I haven't even played a NSMB game since it started on the DS, so I can see why there's fans that are really bummed out on it being another iteration in that line of the franchise.

Also they really incentivize you for keeping your eyes peeled for Golden Scarabs; every 5 you collect opens up a new unlockable (the first one being a health upgrade).

Wii games look much better on Wii-U using HDMI, I don't wanna overcomplicate it, but trust me, they will look better, but not Dolphin good, just better.

Damn. After seeing that and the other trailer with Ayane...if the graphics really look like that, how are people complaining?

Because, like I said, many of the complainers don't have the game and jumped the gun over reviews. :/

IGN said the graphics are bad because they must have anticipated something revolutionary, ergo 1080p X100FXAA at locked 60fps.

I'm playing it RIGHT NOW and it's delicious! :D

The touch screen isn't working for me well in general either. Even selecting on-screen buttons can be a chore. So I'm left wondering how this is going to fair whatsoever in any game that isn't extremely slow paced or turn-based.

i have to agree, the touchscreen on the gamepad is useless for most games. it works fine for the tv remote, or any time you can use a stylus but thats about it

same as the 3ds. they need multi touch

6 hours of Skyward Swords no issues

played some NG+ Xenoblade no issues

the only issue I guess is I am playing at 720p so it looks different

Technically, purchases are tied to an account now - they all show up in your account, your unique user name / ID. The problem is that there's not yet a system in place to let you log in with your account on another Wii U (and thus, then download purchases again).

That's what they must correct, but it's more of a no-man's land right now - since they've already stated in the future you'll be able to log in with your account on "mobile, browsers, and other Nintendo systems".

People should be complaining about this full tilt, of course. But so far, it doesn't appear something that's unfixable, unlike the Wii which had no actual accounts with record of individual purchases, for security's sake.

It's just like how there's no Wii U to Wii U transfer tool in place yet, but it would seem highly unlikely there won't be - since the 3DS has a system transfer tool, Wii to Wii U transfer tool was made available, and so on.

The gore, as silly as it is - makes the combat a lot more satisfying.

Also, add me if you want to do some coop down the line :)

Has nobody yet hooked up a Wii U-ified hard drive to a computer to see what the filesystem is like? Has nobody yet tried to figure out what web server is being accessed? Ye gods, it feels like the whole Internet is on super slowmo this week!

Is there, I dunno, a good hacking resource somewhere for consoles for somebody like me who is interested in the system's internal functioning?

I demand entertainment in the form of cool little discoveries about the system!

I have been going back and forth debating going digital versus retail and I think I'm going to go digital aside from the random retail discounts.

Not having to keep changing games and just clicking on an icon when I want to play ZombiU is something I will get used to very quickly.

This would probably be the first console I would be willing to go all digital for, but the profile stuff has to be fixed first. I'm not spending hundreds of dollars on digital games that are locked to hardware. I won't buy anything in the eshop either.

This is the first Nintendo hardware where I'm actually using the non-gaming features. The browser is JUST good enough to be worth using. And it's pretty cool being able to switch movie/tv streaming from the TV to the gamepad on the fly. I'm still probably in the honeymoon period of the hardware, though, so we'll see how these things age. Nintendo is certainly giving the impression of wanting the Wii U to be a media hub, so hopefully they'll keep improving these apps and don't let them moulder.

Ooh my Sainsburys order is processing also, looks like they took the money from my bank. £300 for Wii U Premium with Nintendo Land and NSMB U, another bargain obtained from the good people of GAF. :)

Now to buy ZombiU, some Wiimotes and Doritos (nom nom).

i really love browsing the internet and using youtube to play music at th same time. the speakers in the bad really make it alitle bit better for me

I'm trying! D:

It would probably be best if someone else tried though. I'm partially handicapped when it comes to networking and the like...

We sold 1 Wii U during black Friday today. And the person that bought it called and asked if he could return the one he bought if he didn't open it and exchange it for a Black one we are receiving next week.

really? Because that is one of the major use cases of the Wii U.

Maybe Scribblenauts is not a great example.. But in Mario, you can play the game just as well on the TV or on the pad.. And more often than I expected, the pad is just fine. I don't turn the TV on all the time.

Scribblenauts is awkward on the TV as the entire game is controlled via stylus. You can try to look up at the screen and use the stylus as a mouse cursor of sorts but I always end up looking down anyways.. you also look down to type in what to draw.

I didn't buy the Wii-U to spend the majority of my time looking at a small screen.. I am looking forward to more games that only occasionally use the screen, and use it for something more than just doing what I can already do on DS products.

So yeah, the Wii U is partially supposed to function as the world's greatest handheld that you can use around the house, or optionally throw up on the big screen.

Maybe I'd think so if it actually functioned "around the house" remotely well. It starts stuttering as soon as I leave my bedroom, and forget about going "around the house" at all.

Either way, it's not why I bought the Wii-U.

Can't you just download the games? They're sort of slightly cheaper that way, and you get eat cheetos the whole time you're shopping! :D

They shipped out tuesday. Not getting here until Saturday.. and I live in the Seattle area where amazon usually would deliver things even on a Sunday.

I could go buy the games and then return the 2 on the way, but that's a hassle I don't need.

Ah okay. Yeah I don't really see that as a problem.

Yeahhhh okay. lol. Well, until they do put a system in place, I'm probably just going to avoid it.

NG3:rz is worth your money

weird part is that I bought all retail and I'm slightly annoyed every time I have to swap out disks - probably going digital soon

I hope it is. I am still very much interested in the game. I'm trying to be smart about my next several purchases until Lego, Pikmin 3, and Monster Hunter.

Up on the buy list for certain is Ninja Gaiden 3, NSMBU, Batman, and Tekken. I've finally removed AC3 and Mass Effect from my list. Mainly because of the online (and issues AC3 could have). In the early days it's not going to populated heavily. So I'm moving my focus to single player (with more of a focus). The question is how do I go about buying them. I'm trying not to buy to much at once anymore.

Oh if anyone is interest Batman is priced at $49.99 on Amazon.com

Search for the other NNID through Miiverse and you can just send a friend request with a message. Nintendo really needs to merge the Friend List app into the Miiverse one. There's not really a need for both.

very true my TV which stayed off most of the year until Xenoblade is getting a lot of use for different things now. I don't have cable but now this TV has many new functions.

I love the UI and every little thing, I just want a usb keyboard support and faster load times and I am set to drop my macbook aside to use this more often

Where's the search function? I'm searching for it but I can't find it! *dumb* >_<'

I deleted all my invites so that I can send a descent one to you mentionning I'm from GAF, guys. Won't take too long.

EDIT: OKAY FOUND IT!!!

I agree with many of the issues you wrote about as I experienced them as well (the long updates and install times). However, one thing that you may not be aware of, and it's good to know for future game purchases: When it wants to update - there's a button that you can select that says "play game now" or something like that. If you press that, you can play the game right away, and the update still downloads in the background! No more waiting around - just play your game like normal and the update will be ready for you later. I wish I'd have known this earlier, but it's good information to have for the future.

Really good to know! thanks!
