Any specific reason why he won't? Probably because it's tied to one system that cannot be moved elsewhere. Imagine if your entire Steam catalog of games was tied to the PC you originally made your Steam account on. That's how the Wii U is.

what are the realistic chances of nintendo changing their minds and allowing people to migrate their accounts to other consoles?

does the 3ds allow this?

No, it's nothing like that, because my PC isn't made by Valve. This whole account deal is being SERIOUSLY overblown, it's not a big deal at all. It really only makes a couple things less convenient and keeps people from installing their games on their friends' consoles. The only way you could lose your downloads would be if you somehow lost your console. And even then, depending on how it was done, there's still a chance you could convince Nintendo to activate your account on a new console (they did so with the Wii now and then).

Yes, the 3DS does allow it, as long as you have both systems.

to be hones, this isn't something that nintendo need to to be convinced to do. the account is yours, you should be free to migrate the account any other console at the time if your own choosing. limiting people makes no sense, especially limiting the console to hardware. it's a silly and short-sighted thing to do, especially when you don't know how well your console it going to hold up in reliability of a few months / years.

that's...a strange method, but it is possible so it raises the question of why they decided to tie accounts to hardware.

Ooh my Sainsburys order is processing also, looks like they took the money from my bank. £300 for Wii U Premium with Nintendo Land and NSMB U, another bargain obtained from the good people of GAF. :)

Now to buy ZombiU, some Wiimotes and Doritos (nom nom).

I really should get round to ordering another game since I'll only have Nintendo Land at launch. Best price for Mario Bros?

It got lost on a previous page, but are there notifications when the system is off? I haven't seen anything about it, so I'm assuming no, but figured I'd double check anyway.

I caved in and bought a deluxe version today. I got it from Best Buy with 12 months payment plan. I went to Toys R Us first and they only had the basic set. I went to Best Buy and they only had 2 (1 deluxe and 1 basic). I grabbed and then another lady grabbed the basic set.

I didn't any game (besides Nintendoland). I know that Toys R Us have a buy 1 get 1 40% off deal, but I really only want NSMBU.. I am not sure about Zombie U. (it seems like it is very difficult)

I wanted to get a third party game with NSMBU, but I heard that there is a bunch of technical issues with most of them.

It doesn't matter that Valve doesn't make my PC. The analogy is the same. Valve would have every right to put that kind of DRM on their store games, but they don't because it is idiotic and would drive away customers.

From what I have read, AC3 seems to have turned out well.

AC3 runs mostly fine but 2 hrs in and I'm already bored with the game :-/

I think NG3 is pretty sweet.

BLOPSII is probably the best 3rd party port out there.

Apparently batman has framerate issues but is still playable...? Not too sure about that one.

And there's some big glitch in sonic right? Hopefully that gets patched

And then there's also zombiu which runs superbly

Again, how is it silly and short sighted to keep people from installing their games on their friends' consoles? Does everybody just assume their console is going to be stolen? Or are there just a lot of people who want to pirate their friends' games?

The analogy isn't the same, because if your PC breaks, you won't send it to Valve where they will give you a replacement for cheap and move your account to the replacement, like Nintendo does. And because often a person will buy a new, faster computer, and expect that Valve games will work on it, but nobody will buy a faster Wii U.

Sonic is fine all-around, the glitch is caused by the launch update, making a specific level in boost mode not having enough boost pads, S0L is currently working on a patch, if they didn't already gave it to nintendo.

hows the framerate?

So guys, I'm curious.

Do all of you have that "new console" feel going right now? That hyped/giddy feeling whenever you buy a brand new console for the first time?

I do.

I wake up in the morning thinking, "Gotta get this shitty work thing out of the way! Gotta play more! Check my messages!"

Cold weather.. new Mario game.. new Nintendo console.. it's a hard feeling to not get.

Oh, definitely. And I didn't even really want the thing before it came out. Now I find myself jumping back and forth between Mario, Nintendo Land, BLOPS, the Miiverse, and even the eShop where I constantly find myself wanting to buy more games. I'm actually very impressed with this thing.

A few Wii U questions:

Nintendoland: If I want to play multiplayer Luigi's Mansion, will my original non-wiimotion plus Wiimotes work? Or only the update remotes?

If I have a homebrewed Wii, will I encounter any problems doing the system transfer?

Non-Wiimotion Plus wiimotes work with Luigi's Mansion. I've tried it. I think only Metroid and Zelda attractions require plus.

Also, someone in either this thread or another (can't remember) mentioned transferring stuff from his homebrewed Wii to his Wii U without a problem.

Does anyone know the file size for the Assassin's Creed 3 download?

Is there any way to find out while you're in the store? I can't seem to find file size information on games.

Edit: Also are load times any different from games you download compared to their disc version?

Not really. Doesn't feel "new" much at all to me. Probably because 90 percent of the games are ones I already played on another console recently. I'd like to try some of them but they're all selling for full retail and there's no demos on the store. Not much incentive to buy ME3 for 60 on Wii U, when it's 18 on 360/PS3. Ditto Darksiders, AC3, Madden, Fifa etc As Nintendo releases more games, the situation will improve. It's a shame Nintendo couldnt figure out a way to send Wii titles to the gamepad. I think that would have improved the visuals of a lot of titles. Miiverse felt new for a couple days, but it takes so long to load that I don't find myself compelled to go there much anymore unless I need a question answered.

I believe you can see the size before you actually purchase it.

Here is a list someone from Giantbomb put together:

i really hope they at least enable VC games to be playable on the gamepad.

for those of your who are more experienced with nintendo, is it likely that games bought on the wii virtual console will not be moved into the eventual wii u virtual console? do you think you will have to buy again?

Yeah, but I think it will definitely die down after the first month or as soon as I begin to realize that I won't have any first party games to play for months.

Yup. As soon as I'm done with NSMB/ZombiU/etc and then realize how long the wait is until Pikmin 3, my mood will take a slight dip. :P

My advise would be to rent/test in store. A lot of times a site like DF will point out problems which the average gamer just won't notice. Check them out yourself and see how you feel with the "issues". You might not notice :)

The amount of times ive bought a ps3 version of a multiplat title, loved every minute of it and then read afterwards that "it's terrible, fps keeps dropping below 30, screen tearing" etc etc and I didn't notice one bit :)

Obviously there are exceptions, but usually they will have been pointed out accross the board as being badly ported, do ate easy to spot.

From what I've seen/read; AC3, DS2, BLOPS2 and Tekken are all great. Batman has some issues, but even then it's only in a few very specific portions of the game and might not bother you personally.

Exactly how I feel :-/

There's no exact release date for Pikmin 3 or Wonderful 101 correct? The wait's going to feel like forever.

Correct, though right now both are scheduled to be released by March 31st if we believe Nintendo's definition of "launch window"

I read that miiverse is a way to measure the sucess of a game, where the most popular games have more miis around it, is it true?

Can someone put a recent picture or video of miiverse?

Every Wii-U thread I've seen you in, you haven't shown any kind of hope for the system, surprised you even got one personally

Relax, I'm just egging people on. Small things here and there irritate me but overall I got it for the first party titles.

I know for sure I will mainly be gaming on the PS4/720 when they release, but Nintendo IPs still hold a special place in my heart.

I'm not expecting any of the consoles to have a "new console feel" (aside from the fact that people look back on previous system launches with rose-tinted glasses) if the yardstick is multiplatform games. PC has been doing it better for a long time, and that won't change much.
