So basically The Tourist and pixelart games?
No. It's a waste of time and effort. How many of your friends/family have 8K TVs?
You understand that it really doesn't take much time or effort to render at higher resolutions when you have the overhead right? No. It's a waste of time and effort. How many of your friends/family have 8K TVs?
Does the Ps5 allow for 8K resolution output?
I don't think they ever updated the HDMI output for 8K but I'm talking about the rendering resolution.Does the Ps5 allow for 8K resolution output?
I personally hope 8k never becomes a focus. 4k is enough to enjoy a crisp image on a large teli.Let them cook 4k properly lol
nope, and I can't believe they haven't been sued for it yet tbh, as it was prominently advertised on the boxDoes the Ps5 allow for 8K resolution output?
I know this that's why I'm talking about it happening as a result of devs doing it for the PS5 Pro & flowing over to the base model.Games still need QA for these kind of things. There could be instances where FX or certain scenes tank your FPS even in games that are not demanding at all. And on console you have limited options so these options got to work. It's not like on PC where you get a list of 20 possible resolutions according to what your system and driver reports to the game and if 8k would cause issues you just switch to a stable resolution.
Given that 8k is rarely needed for a good PPI/view distance ratio, this effort, no matter how little, isn't something most would consider to implement.
And if it's not about PPI that you'd want 8k for, but let's say better anti-aliasing there's so many better options that exist.
The way how modern displays work pushing the resolution will have diminishing returns real quick, up to the point where it's literally non-perceivable anymore.
They have 1 game (maybe more) that renders at 8K so they are actually covered in court lolnope, and I can't believe they haven't been sued for it yet tbh, as it was prominently advertised on the box

Is that your final answer?NO!!!
Does the Ps5 allow for 8K resolution output?
They/Them did it. You are infected with the woke virus.Edit: I'm not sure how "They" ended up in the title in place of "The"
The whole reason we have a fidelity issues because everybody keeps chasing 4K. So fuck 8K.
You do understand that I'm talking about games that are not pushing these high end consoles right?I hope not.. huge waste of resources.

Like how would a 8K Tetris hurt you in anyway? Lol
Yeah totally agree people sue for stupid things but this in your face false marketing gets a pass.nope, and I can't believe they haven't been sued for it yet tbh, as it was prominently advertised on the box
Well, they removed it from the box now, so there is that.nope, and I can't believe they haven't been sued for it yet tbh, as it was prominently advertised on the box

These games aren't necessarily saleable though, they're not vector graphics. That would force the art team to update their assets / sprites etc to make additional assets for a minority of people. While a resolution bump kind of makes sense, you still may run into quite a bit of useless testing to make sure your game can even run at 8K let alone 4K.You do understand that I'm talking about games that are not pushing these high end consoles right?

Yes, the Tourist is the only native 8K game though, as far as I know.Does the Ps5 allow for 8K resolution output?
Internally, but it does not output 8kYes, the Tourist is the only native 8K game though, as far as I know.
Oh that's interesting. I didn't know that. You don't think it would be native on an 8K display though?Internally, but it does not output 8k
4K 60FPS with high detail….. I’d like to see them really nail that for the next gen. And just make that the new baseline performance. We should not be seeing 30FPS games any more, on any platform in this day and age.I personally hope 8k never becomes a focus. 4k is enough to enjoy a crisp image on a large teli.
