Will your Xbox360 purchases kill your current generation Fall gaming purchases..

cause there are a ton of great games coming out this fall... There's at least 10 games that I want here, but i can't afford them and the 360 and 4-5 360 games.

This is just PS2 & some multiplatform games (bolded ones will also be for the 360). Throw in Zelda, a ton of DS games, a good amount of PSP games and you've got one hell of a retail logjam. I almost think this will be a problem for the Xbox360 as anything else. When the PS2 launched, other than Final Fantasy, Driver, and a few yearly retreads, the release slate was pretty clear for the PS2's launch.

Shadow of the Colossus
Kingdom Hearts 2
Soul Calibur 3
Burnout: Revenge
Socom 3
We love Katamari
Genji: Dawn of the Samurai
Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood
The Warriors
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness
Ratchet: Deadlock
Jak X: Combat Racing
Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves
Raimbow Six: Lockdown
Dragon Quest VIII
City of the Dead
Tomb Raider: Legend
Without Warning
King Kong
Star Wars: Battlefront 2
Matrix: Path of Neo
Ghost Recon 3
Prince of Persia 3
True Crime 2
Need For Speed: Most Wanted
The Suffering 2
Pac-Man World 3
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
Resident Evil 4
Devil Kings
James Bond 007: From Russia with love
X-Men Legends 2
Radiata Stories
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks
The Godfather
Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows
Mavel Nemisis
Front Mission 5
Final Fight: Streetwise

yeah im gonna get 360 over a lot of current gen titles. maybe ill pick some of these up when they hit $20 next year though.

Beat all the current gen games first because after you see those hi-res crispy graphics I really doubt you will want to go back to this gen stuff.

Elder Scrolls 4, a few next gen sports games, a Xbox 360 shooter ( a good one) will round out my fall purchase. I would've gotten Soul Calibur 3 if they didn't keep it exclusive to the PS2.

I'm still in line for Zelda, but everything else I'll make my mind up on as time progresses. I'm sure there'll be others, but not exactly sure which yet.

X360 is a possibility for me, but I'll be buying for the other systems anyway.

I don't think I've ever bought a game from a previous gen after I buy a new system. I'm buying two games between now and the 360, and then next gen all the way. So yes - I probably would buy two games during the holidays from this gen had 360 not been launching.

The flip side is, I'm going to spend more now, between the system, extra controller and two games.

That list is one of the main reasons why I'm not in a hurry to get an Xbox 360 or jump head first into the next gen. The 360 and PS3 can seriously wait until summer 2006 for me.

Yup same here! Why pass up great games over graphics?

Games I want to play before moving to next gen
Winback
Virtua Fighter 4 Evo
Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2
Urban Reign
Time Crisis 2 & 3
Thunderstrike Operation Phoenix
Thing
Tekken 5
Tekken Tag
SSX3
Star Ocean III
Soul Calibur 3
Shadow of Rome
Shadow of Colossus
Shadow Hearts Covenant
Shadow Heats From the New World
Resident Evil 4
Radiata Stories
Psi-Ops
Onimusha Series
Okami
Midnight Club 3
Metal Gear Solid Subsistence
Mercenaries
Lethal Skies Elite Pilot: Team SW
Lethal Skies 2
Kingdom Hearts II
Killzone
Jak Series
Grandia III
Gradius V
Getaway
Final Fantasy XII
Deff Jam Fight for NY
Dynasty Warrior 5
Dropship
Drakengard I & II
Dragon Quest VIII
Devil May Cry I & III
Contra: Shattered Soldier
Black
BaldurÂ’s Gate
Ape Escape 2 & 3
Destroy All Humans
King Kong

Some are out already, others don't come out till next year.

'Teh console war is over' i seriously can't really get excited at any major titles coming out.

This i will purchase before x360:
KOF Neowave
(PSP) SFA3
19.99 MGS3
I'd get zelda but since i sold my GC have to wait for Rev

everything else from this gen is gonna be bargin bin.

I'm going to try to be much more selective leading up to the launch. I see very few titles in your list that I consider a must buy. Most can wait for a price drop.

Games I will buy no matter what in time remaining before next gen...

GTA: SA (today)
Pirates! Xbox
Conker
Killer 7
Zelda
Socom 3
Mario Baseball/Pennant Chase
Metal Gear 3: Subsistence
Not to mention a few handheld items.

I think (and hope) that I can hold out on games I really like but don't scream for my immediate attention...Katamari, Shadow, etc.

Will kill mine. Once the 360 comes out my money is all going there. Heck just the excitement and anticipation has kind of killed my current generation.

Kingdom Hearts 2
Zelda
Um...I think that's it.

So no it won't affect it.

Nope, I'll still be picking up Twilight Princess, Shadow of the Colossus and Dragon Quest VIII. Oh and tons of DS games.

i don't let stuff like this bother me. What I can't get now will still be available down the line and even at lower prices in some cases. All 3 next gen consoles will have BC ensuring that I can play my old back catalogue in the slow months. the only thing this may effect is wether i will pick up a title based on it's online scene...I have to wait and see how sony/MS handle online in BC games.

You forgot Crisis Zone. It's REALLLLY good.

not really, there aren't a lot of interesting games this fall.

Shadow of the Colossus - PS2 (will be released a lot later in Europe)
PoP3 - Xbox
Dreamfall - PC and Xbox versions since i'm reviewing them
Farenheit - Xbox or PC, dont know yet
Dragon Age - PC
PD0 - Xbox 360
PGR3 - Xbox 360
DOA4 - Xbox 360
King Kong - Xbox 360
Oblivion - Xbox 360

i will get them, when i will play them is another question. I don't like playing 2 games at the same time. Exept PGR3, Oblivion and Dragon Age, none of them should take more than 3 days to finish.

edit: forgot Ninja Gaiden Black

Yep, I'm done buying games for this generation of consoles. 360 has effectively killed my desire to buy anything further. Conker will be my next and final purchase for Xbox... and even then, I'm going to have one of my MS buddies buy it from the company store.

In my defense, I still have a huge backload of games. Now, it is easier to ignore the "coming soon" list and concentrate on what I already have. I don't feel a bit guilty either... I estimate that I've spent nearly $5000 over the last 4 years on console gaming.

Once i get through my fall games i'll consider a X360

Off the top of my head...

Shadow of the Collossus
Zelda
Dragon Quest VIII
We <3 Katamari
Fire Emblem (GC)
Genji
Devil Kings

You know after reading those replies... words fail me.

The thread title should be:

"Are you a graphics whore?"

All I plan to buy at the end of the year is the new Tomb Raider,Castlevania, and FarCry games for the Xbox. It'd be nice if Sega clued us in just what the heck happened to Sega Rally'05 as well,if it shows up then I'll instanty buy this one as well.

With X360 I'll buy 2,maybe 3 games at launch, anything more and its a waste of time and money for me. I'll also be picking up games for Xbox that fall in the 20 dollar range as well. They'll be lots to play,I just just don't feel like buying so many games at full price though.

I'm not ashamed to be a graphics (and audio) whore. I got the Xbox in the first place because all games had 5.1 games, not because of the games themselves. I did not know much if anything about the games on march 14 2001 when it was released, and I decided to buy it on march 15 after a friend told me about the 5.1 stuff and I read a few reviews and saw that Sega was supporting the console (yeah...). Then afterwards I became fan of some games, so for me PGR3 alone will make the Xbox 360 a must buy. Of course I hopefully will not have to buy it, but that's another story :D

:rolleyes (where are you)

Yes, because the only thing the next gen is offering is dolled up graphics... pfft

It will certainly be interesting. Sony has had the casual fans and that helps publishers ease the console transitions as the installed base still bought ALOT of Playstation games once the PS2 transition approaches.

With Microsoft's mix of customers, there is a very real concern that software sales will drop off precipitously. There will still be alot of Xbox owners that won't get a 360 in the first year, but it could be that the "heaviest" users will abandon the platform completely.

I sort of feel like I'm already done with this gen. Right now my sights are really set on Oblivion and PDZ.

I'll buy Conker and rent some games to hold me over. Really, aside from Conker all I'm even interested in are the more obscure/weird games like Shadow of the Colossus, Indigo Prophecy, Call of Cthulhu, and Dreamfall, most of which will probably be discounted heavily in no time after the 360 comes out.

Not getting an Xbox. I'll probably buy these:

Shadow of the Colossus
Kingdom Hearts 2
Genji: Dawn of the Samurai
Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves
Dragon Quest VIII
Tomb Raider: Legend
Prince of Persia 3
Killer 7
Okami
Ultimate Spider-Man
Onimusha 4
Spartan: Total Warrior

Really. I'm not interested in Jak racing, or sly freakin 3 or Tomb Raider 15 or Soul Calibur 3. I want something new.

Not at all since I won't be buying it at launch.

I'll be quite busy playing the current gen stuff, assuming I even get half of the games I plan on getting.

Fall/Winter to buy list:

Radiata Stories
Dragon Quest VIII
Kingdom Hearts 2
Shadow of Colossus
Genji
Soul Calibur 3
Magna Carta
We Love Katamari
MGS:S

Popolocrois
Namco Museum
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Burnout Legend
MGA! 2

Zelda:TP

I plan on getting Ninja Gaiden, Burnout, and maybe Zelda. Other than that, I am done with this generation. Its not that I am a graphics whore or anything, but enough game interest me on the X360 to occupy all of my gaming time this winter.

this winter is 360 for me. i'll wait for price drops on current gen titles, except for possibly the ones im most interested in like Zelda or FF (haha) and maybe KH...

Not utterly. I'll proabably still play Forza, and a few others here and there just to stay in touch with friends. OTOH, I'm so ready for the nextgen to begin.

I am a graphics whore but a great game is still a great game. No matter be it 2D or 3D, 10 or 1000000 polys.

And I know it would be the same with PS3 launching this year and 360 later - people would overlook all the great Xbox games coming at the end of 2005 and at the beginning of 2006.

Oh well, such is the way of graphic whores ;p

The 360 will take priority but I will still pick up games for my other systems...God willing. I think I'll actually hold off on Zelda untill I find out how that wolf twist pans out.

Everytime someone starts gushing about how great the lineup is for current gen systems this Fall/Winter, I always have to wonder what the fuck they're smoking. It's nice for a hardcore RPG fan. Otherwise... blah. It's all sequels! Some of which I will be buying, but besides Zelda they're not even big deal sequels. I think it's funny how this thread backfired on SonyCowboy, who was probably expecting a bunch of, "360 my ass!! Look at all those high quality Sony products! I'm in heaven!" comments.

Read the title and grow up numnuts. I'm getting a 360 as well. So, if you think this was an attempt to troll for 360 bashing, you're insane. The 360 will sell ABSOLUTELY EVERY LAST SYSTEM THEY PRODUCE. GUARANTEED. We're hearing that stores are already running out of thier preorder allocations.

I'm wondering what's going to happen to current generation game sales this holiday.

I will get the 360 but if there are titles i want on my older systems I will still get them. Maybe just not right when they come out, though. Would be a really expensive winter.

and I can see Valis' point, I thought the same thing :lol

Console stuff:

Soul Calibur 3
MGS3 Subsistence
Shadow of the Collosus
Black (if it's out this year)

sub-$20 games by the bucket loads, as usual

PC:

HL2 Aftermath
FEAR
Call of Duty 2
Prey
Quake Wars Enemy Territory

they're not even big deal sequels

I'm sure every game that isn't a big deal to you is met with a similar lack of enthusiam by every single person on the planet.

I think current gen sales will be good, but not exceptional, mostly due to the lack of a Halo/GTA/FF-sized megahit.
