And we finally return to Mutta's story. I enjoyed the Russia arc quite a bit, but it's nice to have Mutta back, and seeing that story progress. I also really enjoyed all of Kenji's scenes in this episode. That taxi conversation with him and Mutta was great, reflecting on time passing and both the joys and changes that come with watching a kid grow up. Seeing them become more mature, but also losing some of the adorable things they did when they were younger. It was a lovely quiet moment that the show really executed on. I also enjoyed seeing all of the pool training the characters were doing to prepare for their upcoming task. Hibito also gets a nice assist thanks to

I don't know any other way to describe this show other than... odd. It was definitely entertaining enough to continue on to the rest of the seasons. I think there's better out there if your looking for plain slice-of-life, but this is definitely worth the watch, if only to start the series.

It is so dumb, but it was really enjoyable.
Honestly the only reason I watched it was because the episode summary said they were going to Taiwan. Was cool to see I could recognize the place they were at! They were at Sun Moon Lake, not sure why they kept saying Kaohsiung when they weren't even near it, unless the subs were wrong. EDIT: nevermind, guess they traveled in like 5 second from the middle of the island to the south or or they just lumped everything together because the giant guan yu statue is in kaohsiung, but whatever.
Anyways, I remembered I took pics when I went there a few years ago, was cool to see one of my shots lined up almost exactly with what was in the show.

This show was an unexpected hit with animegaf last season. Its cute but really well animated at times and the chemistry of the main two girls is perfect.
You should do this only because its one of the greatest things ever.

I really don't know what to make of this. There are a lot of shows on that staff list that I didn't care for.

Well, it did end in 2013, but I personally can't bring myself to vote on it as if it was a 2013 production. I feel the same way about From the New World even though quite a bit of that series aired this year.
...Is this the ultimate sign of desensitisation to fanservice?

I feel like From the New World is a bit different in that half of the show aired in 2013. Plus, it wasn't possible to really evaluate the show as a whole for the 2012 vote. Given how strong the show finished, it will easily make my own ballot, even though it did start in 2012.

I wouldn't vote for a show unless it has finished (or is running longer than a year), because you never know what'll happen.

Well its pretty true on account this is anime. Its such a fast moving medium introducing hundreds of shows a year in addition to the countless stuff from over 4 decades of production. Its bound to intimidate some newcomers.

Looks like Viz Media rescued Moribito and is planning to release it on DVD and BD this year. To be honest, I didn't know it needed saving, but at least this gives me an opportunity to (hopefully) buy it for a more reasonable price. It's also cool to see that Viz is in the business of license rescuing.
