This is a series that has the potential for 50-100 episodes, which I wouldn't mind.
just wish it had the source material to cover that.
I feel like I should give this show a second chance now.

Of the stuff he's worked on I've only seen Bartender, Berserk and Zeta Gundam. And Berserk is my absolute favorite anime so that's great.
But he didn't direct any of them so I'm guessing it can only get better.

Aoki being awesome. It was great seeing some of those moments animated, especially with the looking away part. They also made Aoki's crazy movements look really funny in the anime. I'm really enjoying seeing this fight play out. Aoki trolling Imae is awesome.

Mushishi - OVA
Bit anxious about it being twice the length of a normal episode but damn did I have nothing to worry about. Exactly the same feeling as the series gave off all those years ago. Glorious music, glorious lack of music in places and just a well-crafted product all round.
You could probably criticise the iffy looking CG near the end but likewise you could sweep it off with the Fate/Zero Berserker defence and say that it looks odd because it's so unearthly and inhuman.
If this is going to be the standard for the second series, hype levels should be set to the maximum.

Only 24 episodes. The first series animated the first 26 of 50 manga chapters, and pretty much frame-for-frame at that.

Speaking of you, I looked in that Heavy Rain LTTP thread you made and laughed my ass off when I saw a guy actually bring up your avatar as his argument against you saying it was so "unrealistic".

A nice introduction episode that reintroduces the cast, even though we've already gotten like 3/4 of an S2 already! Also that first episode budget, I'm sure that judo fight was more well-animated than any of GoHands' filter-heavy dumb action things, RIP.

Mushishi Special - Hihamukage
That was pretty alright. It was pretty slow and delicate, taking it's time to tell a relatively simple story to let the atmosphere soak in. I don't really think there's much to say about it, since it's pretty much exactly what it looks like - a long episode of Mushishi. One thing I will note though, is that the casting is pretty interesting, because the sisters didn't really sound like the typical anime girl voices. I think that contributed to the unique feel of the atmosphere quite a bit, along with the excellent sound direction.
