It was explained in the episode with the reporter. Basically, to throw off detectives on motive.

I'm guessing he knew, he just didn't care. Maybe he just enjoys preying on feminine individuals more than masculine ones. Maybe their actual gender doesn't matter.

It's not explained well.
I think it was because he looks like a girl, and the murdered wanted to remove himself from the suspect list because he knew Hiromi was male.

How come Hiromi was murdered? Isn't he in Satoru's class?

If so, how did the teacher mistake him for a girl?

This was explained a few episodes back. He did it to make it seem as if the murderer didn't know his victims .

Konosuba 09

Much as I love this show Imma have to echo Russ T's complaint and say that the fan-service being over the top, while being the point as it dealt with Kazama's repressed lust and succubuses, was just really really bad. Like, I'm a dude who is bothered by overdone fanservice but is still capable of dealing with it in a show and occasionally enjoys it, being a dude who enjoys a boob or an ass on occasion, but Konosuba's strength is not it's fucking linework or art. If it's not a funny face, rarely are the models...on-model or consistent or even good looking. And holy shit that does not transfer to fanservice well. Darkness' tits were oblong balloon animals in this episode and by golly was it distracting as hell. There was a lot of good comedy in this episode but it was buried under badly drawn titties and crab food porn.

Now to catch up on Heavy Object

OBJECTIVELY BEST ANIME THIS SEASON, SORRY ALL OTHER SHOWS, YOU IS WRONG

I can't say this episode was a big letdown for me.
The reveal went just as expected anyways, although I'm actually surprised Satoru's finding himself in a position of almost certain death unless someone else happens to come buy, stop immediately and pulls him out. I mean the cold temperature may extend the little time he has, but damn if that isn't looking dire.

Am mostly disappointed at the, by now certainly expected, hammy red eyes and evil expressions. When Satoru makes the connection in his mind and the red eyes appear on the driving Yashiro...sigh. Yashiro remarking that it's as though Satoru can see his future was a bit on the nose, too, but not entirely unjustified given his thought process.

:(

First the best part of this episode was Kenya getting flustered that there's a kid who knows something more than him. The interaction between the children really is this show's strongest point I feel.

But... really disappointed the teacher ended up being the killer, I mean it was so obvious that acting like it's a big reveal didn't do much for me, I was hoping what happened last episode was just a red herring because I knew I was going to be supremely disappointed another "I'm really a nice guy but just a psychotic serial killer in disguise" As a mystery show, it unfortunately falls flat on it's face.

what if I told you the manga was better then the anime and the material that comes next blows the first season out of the water

Well then I'd say I've got more reading material!

I need something to wash down where Erased has headed.

I'm not too certain about how subdivisions work, but Exodus production was shifted completely to XebecZwei instead of the main Xebec studio.

Yes, Exodus was Xebec Zwei's first major solo project as they generally serve as support for the main studio. A good chunk of the staff though is from earlier Fafner works or previous Xebec shows.

Goddamnit I was hoping for so much more. It was so obvious. SO OBVIOUS that I'm shocked that Satoru fell for it. You'd have to be pretty damn gullible to believe this person wasn't the one. SPECIALLY because of the omitted info that we didn't know about that their name too was on that list. Come on Satoru. Also, 2 episodes left and a cliffhanger?
Let's speculate who is going to save him
.

so is there even a sports anime about a very capable player/team whose rank is decently high from the get go? I don't wanna watch another Mighty Ducks anime

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but the first thing that comes to mind is Akagi, where the titular character is a god of mahjong who cannot lose. There's also One Outs, which is essentially "Akagi plays baseball".

Well kind of, the baseball in One Outs doesn't really work much like the real sport.

I saw one of the characters in Ace of Diamond wears a baseball cap fucking sideways

I don't know if I can condone such tomfoolery

Those must be the ones cheering on the sidelines unless i forgot. Even when the girls did that it was pretty annoying. But the anime is great i have not enountered complete bullshit in my opinion.

Catcher, Miyuki wore it like that in the beginning I think. But as a catcher he's usually wearing a headguard anyway.

That twist at the end came out of fucking nowhere and ruined the anime for me.

Fuck the pain away, fuck everything

she's probably the niece or neighbor or some shit and she calls him papa for no reason

On its own, this episode was great. Half the episode revolved around the kids interactions with each other, which has always been a highlight. The second half with the reveal was well done.

The problem wasn't the episode. The problem is that they made it so blatantly obvious who the killer was, that Satoru comes out looking like an idiot. Not to mention they lessened the impact of the reveal almost to the point of it not mattering.

To us,
the teacher
was always going to be a suspect, but they didn't need to beat the point into our heads so hard.

Erased 10

Damn. It was so obvious.

Despite the reveal, it was a pretty good episode. I just wish they didnt make it so damn obvious. I'm disappointed with the killers identity but otherwise I enjoyed this episode.

Did people really want the killer in Erased to be a red herring thing? For there to be a stupid twist? That would have been worse.

Yeah thats true. That might have been even worse.

Not jumping up and saying, "I called it" but I mentioned around Ep. 3 that simply because there were so few adult characters that the likelihood of it being
the teacher
was huge regardless of the actual evidence so far. Based on that, maybe it was never meant to be a mystery and was more thriller and signals got crossed somewhere down the road.

Part of me wished that it actually was Yuuki who did it, but of course there were several big plot points against that since the beginning.

Ill hold off until I get to the end. I am enticed to pick up the manga now because there obviously is a bit more to the other characters like Ren and Sho and I don't they'll get too in-depth on them in the anime.

Also, I hope for more president and that rival girl at the audition, she was great

Ren's stuff is for the most part after the anime.
Sho really doesn't have to much in depth stuff you know most of the things from the 1st episode. He is a kid from a successful family that wanted to go into sho biz instead of taking over the family business. Kyoko grew up with him ect.
the president you will get a bit more stuff, but for the most part he remains as someone that just pops up whenever he is needed.
everyone in the show has character growth arcs for the most part though.
As for the rival girl....... just keep watching.

'3 gatsu lion' soon to be adapted. I remember the main character is already a professional shogi player.

There's also hajime no ippo Takamura arc.

Yeah thats true. That might have been even worse.

Personally it doesn't bother me who it was. Just disappointed the show decided to have elements of mystery to it but the payoff was a let down.

The past has the same sort of problem the future has though for different reasons. I don't feel any need to see the present day because Satoru is a loner in it, whilst in the past there wasn't enough characters
to not make the teacher the prime suspect.

I know the show's core theme isn't about the mystery but rather about what Satoru missed in his childhood but it just makes the two present day episodes stick out even more.

Hunter X Hunter (1999) 33

Mike's chase towards the end was a good way to spice up what would otherwise be a less than engaging training episode.

I did like the deadened colors when the butler was talking on the phone.

It might have been obvious either way, but the show really should not have been so blatant about it. Like yeah, we would have suspected him. But it seemed like the show went out of its way to say "HEY LOOK ITS THIS GUY! SEE THIS GUY? HE'S THE KILLER!"

I mean that stupid candy scene, come on.

I guess the reason I'm ok with the genre is that I usually conflate the two. I never expected it to be a full on detective story due to the time travel gimmick, so in that regard the show progressed within my expectations. I was disappointed in the identity reveal since I just expected a curve ball, like it was
actually Yuuki
, especially because of the lack of adult characters. But yeah without proper set up it probably would have been worse. Surprise for the sake of surprise is dumb.

It was especially obvious due to the candy incident last episode and how he conveniently happened to drive down the same route as Aya. That kind of sealed it for me.

I do have to say the sense of dread leading up to the reveal was fantastic. My heart sunk watching the scene unfold.
The despair on Satorus face was too real.

What's this sinking feeling...

Also, based on my experience with seatbelts,
I don't remember any of them locking their length in place unless you'd pull them all the way out to activate the locking mechanism, so why would they work in a different way here?

I was expecting
Satoru to try and turn things around and psych the teacher out by spouting random predictions form the future that he shouldn't be able to know. At the very least, it would've been interesting to see the teacher react to a grade schooler knowing stuff he had absolutely no way of knowing (even if it was just college-level knowledge).

Still, I'm happy that
all the "big" changes happened in a single revival, because I honestly don't believe there'd ever be a way for Satoru to return to the spot he was in if he had already managed to prevent Kayo's death due to how much things should've changed in the future to accomodate all that.

But pretty much as of episode 1 we know it couldn't possibly have been Yuuki. After all he did convicted originally and Satoru's mom realizes who the actual perpetrator was in the parking lot. As she's then also killed it's a given that she was right.

Erased didn't actually ever have a setup to succeed with this 'multiple suspects' angle. It still attempted to do so, which is why it's fundamentally flawed. That our wonderful SAO couldn't hold back and framed the one logical suspect this obviously all the time is just the cherry on top.

Oh yeah I agree. I just refused to believe they would be so blatant about it, down to the last second lol. I was like theres no way, this is also a red herring.

Perhaps the show would be better if Satoru knew who the perp was early on and he spends 10 episodes staying on top of him and trying to prevent the murders while gaining evidence to indict the killer.

Yep, they could have gone the Columbo route.

G Gundam ep. 7-9
So we had Mexico, Canada and England this time around for good ol' Domon. The themed Gundam's are highly entertaining, but the battles are way too short without much choreography. I'm not sure if this is because of the period in which the anime was made or by design, but it mecha so I want bigger battles and lasers and stuff. However, Domon's new suplex move was fun, lol.
