Recommending Gantz is like recommending porn. You don't really do that. It's something you might consume on your own, in private, while being filled with shame. Not something you want to share.

Edit: I guess I also like to see Gantz as a sort of "Holy crap! If that can get published then surely so can my writing!"

Dude. Sword Art Online.

But isn't that a masterpiece? How could my work possibly compare? Why isn't everything SAO?

you don't recommend porn? You haven't lived till you and your friends can discuss a porn parody of a tv show/movie in horror as you drink beers and wonder where humanity went wrong.

HeroAca gets the same day dub treatment for 6 episodes of s2

The new season of My Hero Academia premieres April 1st, and we're bringing it to you in the most epic way possible—the first 6 episodes will be same-day sub and dub! Yeah, you heard us. The dub will air the same day as the sub, and you'll only find both on FunimationNow Check out this all-new trailer!

https://funimation.com/myheroclass/...eroAcademia-S2&utm_content=MHA+Learn+More+CTA

I wonder what the hell that means after the first 6 episodes come out.

ideally the dub won't be delayed to long aka hopefully it's only a week behind like akibia's trip.

Yeah, that thread kinda amuses me.

Who, on GAF, in either the manga or anime thread would ever recommend Gantz? Even people who read Gantz or enjoyed Gantz would normally be like "Eh...just...read something else"

I mean, I read all of Gantz I ain't gonna front, but...saying I liked it is a complicated not entirely true statement.

Half of that was of course due to being like 15 when that girl who looks like anime Lara Croft shows up and fucks Kei.

Edit: True story, in college my roomies and I watched the Pirates XXX movie in our room with the door open and people came by wondering what the fuck was going on and would sit in and watch with us until we ordered pizza and had a good 20 people watching it, laughing and pointing out shit.

Nana ep.5
Love the story perspective they are using for Nana's backstory. She's definitely had it rough and will present the perfect yin & yang with the other Nana. Definitely looking forward to more of these two.

Watched the first episode of Onihei. Been awhile since I've seen a good Feudal Japan anime, and I'm not counting Gintama.

I've enjoyed the few episodes I've seen. Just that Amazon makes it hard given on Amazon Australia its a complete lucky dip on whether a given episode will be subbed or not. Ditto Scums Wish.

That leaves Hachikuji as the weak link. A lot of the emotional weight in the story is undercut by the inherent creepiness of her relationship with Araragi. The 'Goodbye' scene is made way more awkward by her essentially confessing. Isn't she like 10? Why you having a 10 year old confess to a high schooler? Stop that.

I certainly remember tearing up a bunch so it worked for me.

I... am surprised I don't know more about how awful this series was.

I would totally recommend the anime Gantz to anyone that wants to watch a F*cked up show.

I mean at the very least it has a fun opening and some decent WTF moments.

it's not a good series, but it's a decent WTF anime.

His new work Inuyashiki (which is getting an anime!) isn't actually that bad. It certainly has it's bad moments because...well, it's the dude who did Gantz but there have been some surprisingly good chapters and pages both from a storytelling perspective and from an emotional perspective. He focused waaaaaaaaaaay too long on humanizing the villain but when he focuses on the main character, the old man, it has a pretty strong resonant core.

The chapter after the most recent climactic fight was...pretty heavy. Especially when the old man returns home to his wife and kids.

That reminds me I need to catch up on Scum's Wish too. How has it been? Is everyone still drinking crazy juice.

Akibas Trip 9
All the card game stuff this episode was great. Between the over-the-top imaginary fight and Mayo just questioning every dumb thing that was happening, I think this is probably one of my favorite episodes so far.

I mean what are you watching of this current season? Or what have you seen you want more of? Or what do you like? Give us a little something here unless you want the standard recs.

I've been catching up on my backlog lately. I'm not even remotely up to date on anime released in the past few years beyond Space Dandy and Once Punch Man. Finished up The Tatami Galaxy fairly recently, as well as Re:Zero. Still need to finish Mob Psycho 100. Kind of sick of actiony stuff (unless there's anything particularly stand-out to recommend), so I guess I'm feeling something more slice of life right now.

Hey AnimeGAF, what's the good on the good out there right now? I'm looking for a new show to watch.
My Hero Academia is beyond amazing so I recommend that tremendously!

But if you want something else then action, Tanaka-kun and Poco's udon world are really good SoL.

Hollow Knight

Best Metroidvania and Souls mash up there is out there. But my waifu bug
broke my heart.

Yup. Hollow Knight is going in my Game of the Year list and it's literally going to be catch-up for some of the games I'm looking forward to. It's that good. I am astonished at how good of a game it is.

This episode was a riot. I always used to make fun of the card-battling animes and seeing the shit they did this episode was right up my alley.

Konosuba 2- 8
Who knew Studio fucking Deen would be the ones to save anime.

This was hilarious. A town full of Aqua's followers and they're all crazy. Kazuma and Darkness are so fucking good, they steal the show every time. Megumin and Aqua can't compare, but at least Aqua gives Kazuma material to work with.

KONOSUBA
Tales of Zestiria
Scums Wish
March like a Lion

Hand Shakers ep.8
The battle sequence this week was terribly presented and the story was a jumbled mess to boot. I like how they try to make the final few minutes this big emotional scene, but it's tough to reach when they do a half as job shipping the main pair.

Tanaka-kun is a recent example of a slice of life show that is REALLY relaxing. A bit comedic in nature.

If you prefer comedic, there is of course Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou. One of my favorites is Acchi Kochi if you haven't watched it. It's so sweet and lovable, plus it has some fairly funny moments.

Ping Pong is a sports slice of life.

And of course if you want a straightfoward drama, go watch Rakugo. It has been a great ride. First season also doubles as a period drama.

If you want something funny and light Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid and Interviews with Monster Girls are my two favorite this season.

Konosuba, Rakugo, 3 Gatsu no Lion are good too.

I found ReLife from last year to be a pretty fun watch.

If it's SoL you want then,

Poco'so Udon World
Sweetness & Lightning

Watch KONOSUBA to laugh your ass off.

Dipping into last year I'd recommend the Disastrous Life of Saiki K. It's a phenomenal comedy anime that didn't get nearly the recognition it deserved. Otherwise Girlish Number is a good look a voice acting in the anime industry and what it takes to build a career, and finally Kiznaiver its a character and relationship study that I think is done extremely well until it's last arc. All 3 are pretty good and are well outside the action stuff you're tiring of.

Tales of Zesteria Ep 17 engdub

Eren Jeager as Sorey...nice. Will look forward to the redub of his voice.

Monster Hunter Stories Ride On Episode 16 engdub

Avinia is actually a good choice.

The navi-rule this episode made me laugh then when Lute and Navirou were trying to decide which way to go and then Navirou got agitated when Lute was like always choose the opposite. But probably the best moment was both of them being all loud to Avinia as they followed behind her. So annoyingly hilarious.

All Out Episode 15 engdub

Natsuki Ise engdub did good this episode especially the emotional moments.

I was looking forward to this dub, was probably my third favorite episode of the anime.

So many suggestions; thank you everyone! I've got some shows to investigate. Think I'll start with KONOSUBA, since so many of y'all suggested it.

Konosuba is a good bet. Season 1 is decent, but get to season 2 for where the show truly shines.

and yes please don't watch Hand Shakers.

edit: Why am I still rewatching the last ONIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN with the epic choir behind it and laughing so much.
