Well, you can always throw out the boxes or just wait for the non premium reprints.

That said, at least they are good about doing replacements for their problem releases.
Do NISA even do non-premium reprints?

Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009) ep1?

Kinda was like Kyon there at the end
time travel, the three year stopping time and bed in Nagato's home was a bit baffling especially when he brought up that when he visited her earlier that his body had been sleeping in the room next door. They didnt say what was the noise that the TPDD method causes

It had its moments and it seemed the anime had a visual upgrade, ED2 wasnt as good as ED1, miss my dancing SOS Brigae, Kyon and Koizumi and how OOC it was for Nagato.
have fun with endless eight

Yeah, I know that at least Toradora received a standard edition.

Yeah, also Persona... Working... and Arakawa S1.

In fact, this is interesting - Arakawa S1 is the first set that I've seen from them where they've separated the DVD and BD discs into two separate sets.

---

I finally watched a bit of the K-On!! dub and funny enough, for episode 27, they changed the English into French. I guess it wouldn't make sense otherwise, but given that the whole point was to set up their London trip, it just makes no sense.

Given that they haven't even announced the movie as something that they've licensed (I wonder at which point I should give up and just import the movie and Yakuza 5), I have to wonder what they might do to all the London scenes in the dub if they ever do bring it over. lol

Despite the occasionally atrocious British voice acting and the hilariously terrible synth-rock soundtrack, this is still pretty excellent times... horrific animation aside

No idea ..what i know is that i'm satisfied with my natsume book of friend First SET ..and that even when NISA made a mistake ( home fox deity 1) they offered a replacement for everyone at no extra cost !

Yea they sent me a replacement cover within a week.
Just contact them and they replace it.
The boxes are tall but thin.
They look beautiful on the shelf.
They keep the disc cases undamaged and every release has a neat artbook.
I seriously cant believe people complain when a company goes to this length with packaging instead of throwing it in a cheap case.

Because they would be better in a regular booklet inside a regular plastic keepcase and not a huge hardcover monstrosity?

It's shelf porn. Given that you're trying to appeal to people who would just as soon pirate anime, they probably figure that it helps move sets.

i really disagree .

There was a time when NISA struggled with their packaging but the ones they have now is pretty much perfect if you want to deliver on extra stuff ( something they do )

As I've mentioned, it depends on the release.

Full commentaries on every episode of Maria Holic Alive. Subbed.

Why? Who knows. I bet even SDBurton hasn't listened to them. lol

You could always throw it out. Or wait for the barebones release if you cared about any of the shows they licensed. lol

Commentaries are good stuff , especially for a serie you enjoy.. It's like a making-off for a movie..not everyone watches them but there are some that do.
When a serie has a world that is intresting or a great cast of characters ....having commentaries as extra stuff is always welcome.

My favourite sets are still the Aria ones in terms of just all the interviews and production stuff they managed to get and cram onto the discs.
(Although season 1 was annoying because the special feature was spread out across the entire set :p)

So far though, the shows I would want commentaries from have been fairly bare bones. That said, I haven't really listened to the Arakawa commentaries yet.

How much commentary is there for the Arakawa set. I am regretting I didn't buy it right away when it was on sale during the holidays.

Does this get followed up with a glance at his dvd shelf and wondering how it'll ever fit?
How about things that will never fit (fit in), like that fucking Taxi Driver BD which is horizontally wider than any of the 120+ BDs in my collection, so the entire thing just sticks out awkwardly?

God, that thing pisses me off!

The solution is to get a regular blu-ray case to house the movie disc, and print a cover for that case. Then the original case can be housed in a drawer or something along with all the other collectible junk that comes with various releases!

Head Maid is pretty hardcore. I'm usually one for judging adaptations on their merit but so far little about this seems worthwhile (aside from the brief Hero/Demon Queen interludes) and a more digestible format would be preferred. Still going to finish this but might have to give the manga a look after all.

Also, I hope to see a cap of the "No one in the world hates maids." used as an image macro down the line.

Non-standard packaging annoys the hell out of me too.

Over half of the episodes on both sets have commentaries and the commentaries are available on both the DVD and the BD discs.

The real solution is DVD wallets. I just need to get over throwing away empty cases and inserts I don't care about. lol

In that case you should have been upset when bluray came out and had smaller-than-DVD cases to begin with.

And let's not even get into pre-disc-era game packaging.

I remember some early anime dvd releases having a slip cover that housed a cd sized jewel case with the the dvd inside and nothing but. what the hell

Hey, I enjoyed my giant box with giant manuals and giant world maps that came as a standard, not limited editions, for all my PC games at that time.

This isn't a solution when we're talking about shelves and actual display. It's all about the aesthetic!

Not really an issue. DVDs and Blu-rays don't need to share the same shelf space. They're different types of collections!
