Is it just me or has Geralt's voice acting in the last few trailers has been very sub par?
Bioware did state that they had serious RAM budgeting issues and that one of the things that went out of the window was animation.
512 or 256+256 is seriously limiting. It means that animation rigs (which need to stay in ram all the time) and individual animations need to be reduced to fit the myriad of other things the game needs

Never said they was that bad, but now you mention it that hair is some PS2 era hair.
Sorry but the character models just stand out as cartoony compared to the rest of the game, it's pointless posting screens of them thinking I'm gonna be impressed by textures and details when it's the actual models that are are the problem.
Bloodborne is even worse, like I said the character models are a little disappointing.
The hair is easily some of the best looking hair we've seen in a game.
Ive beat both previous Witcher games and I dont remember thinking his voice acting was bad, but in these trailers he does sound pretty bad.I know a number of people have expressed in the thread they didn't think very highly of of it, so you're definitely not alone.
Personally I think his voice acting has overall been fantastic in every piece of footage we've seen, but being a "Cockle Geralt" fan, I'm absolutely bias.
I know that is why I said last gen was the. They could have done more with current gen, but that would have been too much work I guess

Dandelion was the most uncharismatic bard in the history of barding. He is dreadful in TW1, as Daverid alluded to likely because of no direction. All the VA's in that game were pretty terrible.

I have a headache today and that video was getting to me. So fucking terrible.Slaughtering With Signs: The Magic of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I beat Witcher 1 once and yes the voice acting was far worse than these trailers, but I've also beaten TW2 4 times so Im pretty sure it's not just my first impression. In the 30 min xbox One gameplay segment the voice acting in it was fine, same as in TW2; just something in the way he says thing in this trailer thats rubbing me the wrong way.Go back and play them again. I'm sure it is just your current impression.

I didnt watch this because anything story-wise I want to go in blind and the first 15 minutes of the game seem pretty important.(Like that conversation with Vesemir in the 15 minute footage really hit home perfectly for me).

That's simply not true. There's absolutely nothing 'flat' about this lighting. Quite the opposite actually. The lighting and the way it interacts with the materials is fantastic. There are plenty of shadows, depth and contrast in these scenes as well.
Watch the latest interview with Damien Monnier, a few comments towards the end should put you at ease.
EDIT: Right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0o_qoTVFOw
The character models in unity are very variable in quality. The main characters look great, the others not so much.
From what I've seen the W3 has stuck a really great balance.
Yeah, nor should anyone else, unless they have insane expectations.
Unity's character (Elisse?) was the best model in all the game, imo.
Honestly, I think Witcher 3 will move better than Unity. In particular the framerate tanked in the cutscenes in AC Unity, which are the moments when you could see her face and hair.
Really seems to be a lot of mime hate in these screenshots.
Yeah they need to stop using terrible PS2-era models

Anyone know how customizable the HUD is on PS4?
So have we actually seen hair-works in action yet?
The W3 shot above is from the developer, these below for Inquisition aren't official but are just from a high res gallery capture:
Heh. Those are my screenshots from PG Gamer![]()
I don't know about changing the opacity, however based on comments from the developers it seems like just about every HUD element can be turned on/off. So presumably that includes everything from damage numbers to HP bars (Both Geralt's and Enemies), level icons, mini-map etc. The HUD can also be scaled smaller/larger (Probably as a whole and not individual element scaling though).
Consoles will have the same amount of HUD/UI customization as PC.
It was definitely active in the 35 minute demo. If you keep close eye on the Horse's Tail & Griffin's Head as Geralt rides into Novigrad, that's Hairworks in action. Although we don't really have a more recent example of it, at least not to my knowledge.
I think it's also present on the wolves in the new screenshot.

I cannot believe that new video from IGN is real. Is that a joke?
It has to be?
Foliage issue is visible in some new footage and shots. It gets hit flatly by the light a lot, seemingly lacking much shadowing or contrast. Frostbite seems to give them stronger and cleaner shadowing so they look more dimensional, and they don't face the camera as blatantly. I'm curious if this is art or dynamic lighting making the difference, or both.

I think it's mostly art.
Witcher 3 seems to go for a more natural look, if only slightly more natural. It looks reminiscent of an actual European landscape you might see in a photo, but doesn't look very moody to a lot of people and might come off as flat to some. ArmA 3's foliage looks somewhat similar.
Dragon Age on the other hand looks a lot more like a video game -- what people are used to seeing. It wants to make use of all its fancy shadows and lighting and make sure you notice them.
