Witcher 3 Wins GOTY @ The Game Awards 2015!

If I really, really hated The Witcher 2's first 4 hours enough that I stopped playing it because the dialogue was a corny grimdark shitshow with geeky 'erotic' interludes that looked like fanfic porn, is there any chance I'll like Witcher 3?

It's an honest question.
Yes but it also took me some forty hours to see that the main character gruff macgravelvoice wasn't completely generic teenage wishfulfilment but actually had some depth. There's still slightly embarrassing interludes with naked puppets though. But overall I hated TW2 and quite liked TW3.

Bad form, Monocle. Your role is to reply to shitty posts like this, not make them.
Sorry, all I meant by "safe and typical" was that mainstream games always seem to win these awards, and while The Witcher 3 might not compare to the likes of Destiny, the series is still fairly high profile. I would rather see smaller or more obscure or more inventive games receive GOTY awards. There's no shortage of high quality lesser known titles. Bigger doesn't necessarily equal better.

Even something like Bloodborne, despite its ties to Dark Souls, would have been a better choice I feel, since from what I've seen it has not only strategic and challenging gameplay, but also extraordinary audio and visual design and a huge complex of deep lore that's soaked into every fiber of the game. The Lovecraftian aspect is especially appealing.

Not trying to threadshit here, just taking the opportunity to comment on the kinds of games I think deserve more representation.

Cant wait to go back to this

Why would you keep quest prompts and controller commands on, man? (i can forgive the minimap, since many quests basically demand it, unfortunately).

You're right. My time with Bloodborne washed all the jank and overlong quests that the Witcher 3 churned out. Mgs4 gave me enough war stories to last a year with its excellent open ended gameplay..Witcher 3 is so one note, ot could have been a tell tale game.
