With Quantum Break going PC who is ditching the X1 in favor of a new rig?

I never really used my X1 that much to begin with. I have a X1 and a fairly high end pc (i7/980). The only things I really used my X1 for was Destiny and MCC, now the only thing I use it for is Halo 5. So I'll be getting them on PC over X1.

Ive wanted an excuse to build something pretty beastly again anyways but just having 3rd party wasn't all that compelling. The idea of being able to really make games like Quatum Break, Scalebound and Gears 4 shine is just to exciting to me.

so selling your xbox used is going to really help you create this beastly PC? What can you even get for it at this point? $100?

smelly thread dude.

I bought an XBO for Tomb Raider and Quantum Break. Part of me wishes I just waited for their PC port announcement dates, as I game almost entirely on PC. But I've liked my time with the console and am still praying for some Rockstar backwards compatibility!

The bone has been the biggest waste of money so far. Pretty much anything multi-plat I don't even play on it and the exclusives have been kind of meh

At the minimum, everything that's out now will be cheaper when AMD releases new cards later this year, and their new processors will probably be a great value for performance since they don't come with an integrated video chip.

A gtx 760 is a $150 GPU. A build around it will probably cost around $500-700. Could go as low as 400 depending on how you go about it.

Where do people get these ideas about GPU prices?

What's the point in building a system that can run the minimum specs? May as well stick with XB1 in that case.

Also isn't getting XB1 copy a better deal since you get free copy of Alan Wake plus DLCs and PC code for Win10 QB. Doubt you get those bonus with PC version.

Edit: http://remedygames.com/quantum-break-pre-orders-and-previews-launch-windows-10-version-announced/

Well if you've jumped on that Alan Wake PC bundle from a while back you already got those so the only benefit I see here is having it both on Xbone and PC which is good if you plan on playing on both providing it's cross save.
Alan Wake PC ports are ace too I could max them with my old 460 with an i3 supporting it.

Tried to extricate a derail about Sony and the PS4, but getting the impression it might be better to lock the thread. Will give it another 30 or 40 posts and see if there's much going on, then will lock if it's still got the undercurrent of console war stuff.

Also unfamiliar with the Xbone cross-buy thing. If I bought a disk could I activate it on my PC or does this only apply to digital copies?

You'd maybe get $250 for selling your XB1. That's not gonna buy you a new rig. Also, I could see them holding on to Halo, Gears and Forza for a while or at least having them release at a later date.

You also gotta consider that for enthusiast PC gamers the idea of playing uneditable games on a shitty store interface instead of like, Steam isn't really worth the investment.

I would just like to humbly point out that, as far as interfaces go, the Windows Store is lightyears ahead of Steam in terms of design, navigation, layout etc.

There's a lot of things you can criticize the Windows Store for, but this isn't one of them, at least not when Steam is the comparison point.

Aren't MS fucking up the X1's chances by bringing X1 exclusives to PC?

Chances of what? This generation of consoles has already been decided, getting the games they're paying for into as many hands as possible is far more important at this point. The Xbox One will eventually become the lowest bar for entry into Microsoft published games, which ultimately I think is a good thing.

Xbox One unit sales will still continue on the pace they have been for a while but they make more money from the software side of things so opening that up to a massive avenue in PC gaming makes a lot of sense. They just need to make sure they deliver with the quality of the port.

I feel there is a place for a thread asking what kind of effect has the announcement among Xbox users. Perhaps a simple, "will you buy QB in Xbox One now"? dunno.

Anyway, just my two cents, that's you call.

(What was the derail about?)

I'll be sticking with my XB1, as I prefer to game on console and I can't justify buying a PC rig of the quality & power that I would want. I'm happy as a console gamer.

I take no issue with MS's decision to release the game on PC at the same time as XB1. I don't see it having a negative impact on me. I'm happy that buying digitally on XB1 grants you a code for PC as well. I will likely try to sell the code or give it to a friend.

I think they don't really care about Xbox one sales anymore. They realize it will never take off like ps4 so they're looking for money elsewhere. I do think that bringing everything to PC will hurt them if they decide to make a console next Gen though.

Of course they care about X1 sales, that's ridiculous. It's selling insanely well.

They just realize that this is a great way to sell a ton more copies of their games without hurting their consoles platform.

But maybe if quantum break wasnt coming to windows 10 it would turn the tide of the console war and everyone would buy xbox ones and forget the ps4

I don't get anyone twisting this into anything but great news

If Horizon 2 ends up going to PC as well + I can turn my remaining 9 months of EA Access into PC Origin Access I will sell my Xbox + Kinect and invest that money in a new GPU. Currently running a GTX 770 which is perfectly fine for now though.

I don't use my Xbox for anything other than gaming really (have both Amazon Fire TV stick and Chromecast for media) and I don't watch TV so it's kinda useless right now.

Yeah, this is what I think. Bringing an X1 exclusive to PC on day one is a sort of tacit admission that they've lost this gen. I mean it's a move that's not going to encourage X1 sales.

Already have my current rigs that will last the next few years. The cheap X1 I got in november need not be ditched. I will build a new rig when the new architectures cpu/gpu mop the floor with this game in lightboost either 1440p or 4k.

thankful you do just fine with a $500 PC believe it not. You can upgrade your GPU down the road if thrist for high end grahics.

Hmm... breakdown that $500 PC please for me.. .include Win10 and a Xbone controller please and wireless adapter so you can comfy couch it... oh and a wireless mouse and keyboard, need that too. Don't say.. we all have that lying around.

..and good luck putting in that high-end graphics card later in your shit-build $500 build.

Best to be honest about the true cost, and it's not $500 for everything to make a machine that's considerably better.

Instead of making this some anti-Xbox thread, we should celebrate that MS is giving us more options.

I was looking to buy an Xbox One eventually but if their exclusives keep coming to PC, I'll have no need. I think ReCore is supposed to come to PC as well? The only other game I'm interested in was Scalebound.

Absolutely. Microsoft understands where they're at with the Xbox One. It's a console with an awful pre-launch message that while selling well now is selling less than its more powerful competitor. At this point being able to offer their games to people with Windows 10 and decent hardware makes a lot of sense.

We're on an enthusiast forum where we do see a lot of people with decent rigs, but there are still millions of people out there who only have an Xbox One or a PS4 who won't ever have a gaming rig. Being able to hit each of those groups helps make these big investments in exclusive games make a lot of sense to Microsoft.

You may be asking too much.

There's no logic in this thread at all. No reason it should be opened still but oh well. I'm very happy for Microsoft, they nailed it with Remedy (it seems so far).

Having more people able to enjoy this game by having it on PC as well is a good thing. The game looks awesome. It's a day 1 purchase for me on xbone. I'd love to play it on PC at higher specs but i'm a mac air guy. no need for a home pc at the moment.

I plan on building a new rig soon, but I use my Xbox for so much beyond games (eg media and TV) that I can't see myself getting rid of it at this point even if it didn't have any exclusive games at all. I usually like to play multiplayer games in a console environment as well since I prefer controllers over keyboard, the ease of friend stuff, and it usually having less cheaters.

It's sad.

Starting with the first xbox, Microsoft started fucking the PC crowd luring PC developers in the console scene.

They continued pushing hard, and two years after 360 debut, everybody was making console games and the pc gaming scene, in some genres, was getting nothing more than ports.

Luckily for PC gamers the trend stopped and now the scene is healty.

Now that Ms thinks that the situation for their console is not reversibile, they are starting to fuck their customers in a similar way they did with pc gamers years ago.

MS if fucking their customers by making a game available on PC.. and that's hurting an Xbox One customer exactly in what way?
