Fury was amazing, it made me look up Ayer's filmography to check out his other films.

Dude ran over dead bodies in tanks
I'm never letting him make a movie in this town again!

Its just petty that you pegged me as a SW stan based on that, petty and silly.

Petty would be trolling a fanbase because a movie made like 10 million less than it should

Maybe instead of saying people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, we just adopt an anti-stone throwing policy instead

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???

Lol Acting was great though, Logan Lerman delivered.

David also wrote S.W.A.T. one of my many guilty pleasure films, so goood.

lol yes AoU was expected to gross 470M, haha.

Set an example, stop being petty and throwing stones ;)

Not if it manages to prioritize having a fun time at the theater over serious melodrama. It can do that any number of ways including dark humor which is what I'm hoping for.

I don't know if that's what a guy like Ayer will do though. I'm not sure if that's really his MO.

Going by the trailers it seems like there will be quite a bit of humor sprinkled throughout

That doesn't make or break a movie though critically, as long as it flows well and the performances aren't shite it will do fine for the most part. But you just know as soon as they see joker pull up in the Lambo some of them are gonna make a mental note of 1 star less lmao.

I irrationally hate Lerman because his character was such a shit in 3:10 to Yuma

He wrote SWAT too? I liked that movie.

Yeah you don't get to request anything when you shit on swiss (who's about as neutral at the actual Swiss) and then complain when you get blowback for acting a fool

You also call -everybody- petty so that's basically lost all luster with me at this point

He's human after all and got his wrongs, notice he didnt contest the part after I reminded him what actually happened. Atleast he's not making a fool of himself, calling people stans.

edited to add, I didnt shit on him. He accused me and I politely corrected him.

Maybe. I could see that happening if Leto is as obnoxious playing the Joker as he seems to be in real life. The guy can act though, no doubt about it, so maybe he'll charm critics after all.

Then again, Eisenberg is a decent actor and he...umm...yeah

That was you being polite??? le sigh indeed

I should've just bounced when Bobby stumbled in, that was the iggy
You would have preferred crow serving like that Antman thread? lol

Its ok. Avengers won, AoU lost, Civil War will win.

Chin up.

Only if Disney or other movie studios shared some money with their defense forces. This is giving me vibes of me going against some Potter fans few years back.

I just know from experience that arguing with you is pointless and I have better things to do. No one's mind is going to be changed, and conversations just go in circles.

The old threads are there if people care to go through them. Calling people out for absolutes regarding BvS just seemed ironic given last year.

BvS is not a bomb either way.

I'm also going to yell at you all now for not watching Midnight Special

That shit was goooooood

Best movie of the year (so far) Forreal. Nichols is one of the best directors out there easily. 4/4 on that hot streak.

The amblin homage we deserve.

Funnily enough the lengths Michael Shannon would take to protect his kid reminds me of costners Kent. And sure enough the kid is reading a superman comic in the movie too haha

If it played in my area, it was for a week and probably on a screen the size of my living room.

I'm never forgiving Canada for this.

He fucking crushed it. Shannon and Edgerton were damn good too. That's a movie I could probably watch a few times

Shannon had zero chill the whole movie, so done with everyone's shit

Michael Shannon is mad underrated. Sooner or later he needs to get that recognition.

Love how nichols throws him in every movie though. That's good.

My city has two 12 screen Cineplex theatres, and one independent 10 screen cinema. Cineplex Odeon is to movie selection what Walmart is to game selection. Other than the odd film during Awards season they typically just stick to wide releases.

The independent theatre takes more chances, but the limited release stuff gets stuck in their 100 seat rooms.

I have to avoid the maple syrup and hockey stick testing during the border crossing to Michigan if I want to see anything really limited, and that's typically too much effort.

So Jungle Book is probably heading into the high 50s/low 60s range this weekend depending on its Friday to Saturday bump. It should easily win next weekend as well unless Keanu seriously overperforms.

Civil War has no competition for its first two weekends. Winning a third weekend might be tough, but if Neighbours 2 underperforms, or if Civil War plays more like the Avengers than Iron Man 3 or Age of Ultron, it could conceivably take that weekend as well.

First 20 weekends of the year are going to look like this per distributor:

Disney: 10-11
Fox : 7
Universal: 3-4
Warner Bros: 2

I suppose if people still care about Angry Birds in 2016, Sony has a shot at 1 weekend as well.

It's hard to predict the rest of Disney's year beyond Civil War. Finding Dory will win its weekend, but it has Independence Day the following frame. Who knows how BFG will do, but I don't see it opening #1. Ditto for Pete's Dragon.

Doc Strange will take 1 or 2 first place finishes. Same with Moana.

Rogue One could conceivably take the last three weekends of the year, but it's too early to tell how big it will be and if any of the X-Mas films will be big.

It's insane how diversified they are this year (you left Alice out too).

Looking at 2017 and its just as crazy.

Weekend Studio Estimates:

1) The Jungle Book - $60.8M (-41%) - $191M total
2) Huntsman: the Winter War - $20.1M
3) Barbershop the Next Cut - $10.8M - $36M total
4) Zootopia - $6.6M (-19%) - $316M total
5) The Boss - $6.1M - $50M total
6) Batman v Superman - $5.5M (-39%) - $320M total

Batman v Superman tops Ant-man's fifth weekend by $23k. We will have to wait for actuals to see if that holds.

I can see The Jungle Book dipping below $60M and The Huntsman dipping below $20M in the actuals. Both will need good Sunday holds to keep their estimates.

Wow, Huntsman couldn't even do $20m. (with that .1 estimate, it's more than likely going under 20 with actuals)

Pretty sure it's been discussed already but Zootopia is going to catch up with BvS for sure now

New Worldwide totals:

Zootopia - $907M
Batman v Superman - $852M
The Huntsman Winter War - $100M (remember this came out 2 weeks ago overseas)

ArmGunar already pointed out Jungle Book at $528M WW

Perfectly said!

If SS is a hit that would certainly go a long way.

I don't think it would, honestly.

It's certainly distinct from the rest of the announced DCEU slate, but that cuts both ways, IMO: it's less likely to suffer from BvS' bad word of mouth, but it's also less likely to generate much goodwill for other DCEU films. Except maybe Batman.

I think Wonder Woman will be a lot more telling as to the viability of their current approach.
