Wow the Jungle Book hit it out of the park, good for them, I was a bit worried due to how some previous movies had done based on famous stories but they nailed it apparently.

I still remember one Jungle Book cartoon as a kid that was great, it had a continuous continuity that kept going and characters lived, died and grew. It was amazing.

So is Jungle Book good? My friends said it was fun, but maybe too violent for small kids.

And is $100M a good opening for the movie?

The Jungle Book - $291M
Batman v Superman - $827M
Zootopia - $882M

No. I listed them in order of opening weekend rather than 4th weekend (other than BvS).

Last Stand opened to $103M and had shit legs.

Ah, it seemed like a mistake or an attempt to be disingenuous or something. I think it would have been more impactful of a point to list them in order of performance, and then a space, and then BvS and X3.

Maleficent opened to $69m and Cinderella to $67m so that's quite an increase for TJB in terms of live action adaptations.
It will also have incredible word of mouth because anyone has seen it is going to recomend it. I have not heard anyone say they have not liked it

Jungle Book is way, way better than any of the other movies listed. Favreau knocked it out of the park.

BvS likely spent 9 mill a day on ads worldwide. Just pathetic performance less than a month later, wow. Word of mouth killed this movie.

Today I learned that not only does a new Barbershop movie exist, it's already out. Wow. So that's the effect of cutting TV.

Holy hell at Jungle Book. Thought this film was tracking for around $80M and that was supposed to be a really good opening! Did positive WoM and impressions add an extra $20M to the BO or was tracking just really, really shit with this movie?

And does Zootopia and BvS cross streams this next week? Will it cross in the dailies or do we have to wait for next weekend?

Jungle Book was tracking at $60-70M before the reviews came out.

Zootopia will cross streams with BvS next weekend most likely. Animated films have bigger weekday drops than live action while kids are in school, and BvS was still ahead on Sunday.

Extremely impressed by Jungle Book.

Between Zootopia, The Jungle Book, and the upcoming Civil War, Disney is going to be making a LOT of money soon. That doesn't even factor in Finding Dory, Doctor Strange, and Star Wars: Rogue One.

... I also think Zootopia and BvS will cross streams by next week.
