Wkd BO 09•01-03•17 - Labor Day WEAKend box office has nothing as Bodyguard 3peats

I will make sure to quote my 100M OW prediction for IT that I made months ago if it gets somewhere close.

I will make sure to ignore it like I do with most of my predictions that are way off.

Colin Firth looking good. He went from "I'll have her home by 9" to "Your wife calls me d-d-d-daddy too."

I think IT is getting near or breaking the current R-rated record for previews, $12.7M held by Deadpool. It won't get close to Deadpool's OW off that, of course, but that certainly would put over $90M in play.

Like Deadpool, tracking is going to be way off since IT is playing on a different level than any other horror films.

would IT exploding put WB above or close to Disney in terms of this year's ranking? Assuming JL does around Thor or better, ofc.

I guess Disney has Ep 8 but its legs will mostly be next year.

Rogue One made $408M of its $532M total in December. If The Last Jedi makes $700M, at least $500M of it will be in December. Maybe more.

I'd estimate;

BV 2017:

Thor: $300m
Star Wars: $500m
Coco: $200m (Moana did $210 on a similar release date)

= $1b

Warner Bros:

It: $180m
Geostorm: $50m (Somewhere between Into the Storm ($50m)
Blade Runner: $130m
Ninjago: $150m
Justice League: $400m
Bastards: $50m

= $960m

Dunkirk and Annabelle are still bringing in some dollar as well.

Disney are $140m ahead at the moment, so that'd bring the gap down to around $150m.
