legit made less money domestically/WW than the original boring ass Dinosaur (2000) unadjusted
Even in a year where a dinosaur movie made like a more money than God
Where's my Porky's and Revenge of the Nerds reboots?
I was asking if this is the official number for Sunday since only posts ago people were wondering if the total would increase by 2 million or not. It's the estimate in the OP of this thread, LOL.
The Matrix didn't need to be R. It's PG-13 tops. It doesn't have any swearing minus a few "shits" here and there. No f-bombs as far as I remember. No gruesome violence. No nudity..well maybe when he comes out of the tank...but you could definitely PG-13 it and not miss anything.
I think TFA will pass Titanic WW, but its not going to reach Avatar (unfortunately).
Really crazy how Avatar made so much money when it was such a dumb film.
At least we can rest easy with the domestic record and let the rest of the world deal with having Avatar being #1.
That isn't true?Avatar already had inflated numbers (well, it was a 3D showcase, so there was a reason) but TFA takes it to a new Level with being screened almost exclusively in 3D when there is no reason to do so other than to make more money.
The film, with its inter-galactic battles and space-hopping adventures, played particularly well in premium formats — 3D showings accounted for 47% of tickets sales
I think as for being dumb there is not much seperating TFA from Avatar. And the main reason why TFA ends up with the domestic record is simply that it runs on 15 % more screens. Are there numbers for actual attendance? I guess that Titanic still reigns there. Avatar already had inflated numbers (well, it was a 3D showcase, so there was a reason) but TFA takes it to a new Level with being screened almost exclusively in 3D when there is no reason to do so other than to make more money. Avatar 2 will probably be the first movie to reach 1 billion domestic.
Lol I think a lot of people are... the problem is everyone else is seeing it for the 3rd 4th and 5th time
So glad Jurassic World has been knocked off it's position so soon.
Feminism won.

That's a pretty big difference people are seeming to ignore. People actually want to see avatar in 3D. For TFA, people are somewhat forced to watch it in 3D because hardly and theatres are playing it non-3d.
What are you taking about? It's playing in 2D basically everywhere. I've seen it twice, both times in 2D.That's a pretty big difference people are seeming to ignore. Seems to be about 50/50 here. Enough 2D showings around. That's a pretty big difference people are seeming to ignore. People actually want to see avatar in 3D. For TFA, people are somewhat forced to watch it in 3D because hardly and theatres are playing it non-3d.

FTFYSo next week well see the ad they probably had tucked away since opening day:
(Read in announcer style voice
"Star Wars The Force Awakens is now the Number 1 movie of all time "Whooooo" be a part of history *BB-8 noises* and see STAR WARS THEN FORCE AWAKENS (now playing)*Leia corpse stare*"
"The son of a bitch (Tarantino) did it again"
Avatar 2 will probably be the first movie to reach 1 billion domestic.
Good luck with that one.
Box office expectations for Avatar 2 are sounding ridiculous. It'll probably have an insane run only to be seen as a disappointment because it didn't crack $3B.
Acting lessons for Luke Bracey.Point Break cost $105 million to make? What the hell did they spend it on?
That list is wrong.
I only did the math on two of the movies, but...
If you take the original box office take of ESB and adjust for 1980 dollars, then adjust the rerelease for 1982 dollars and adjust the Special Edition for 1997 dollars you get around $735 million.
Avatar is around $840 million adjusted.
Yet ESB is ahead of Avatar on that list.
Hunger Games fatigue finally sets in big time.
They should have just made one movie instead of splitting it into two boring ones.
Speaking of The Hunger Games, where did that budget go to? The latest movie didn't look any more expensive than the rest of them.
Lawrence got herself a nice payday
I watched the final movie with my family. All of us said the same thing: "It's got some cool elements, but it really should have been combined with part 1 to make one movie."Hunger Games fatigue finally sets in big time.

Is this a joke post or are there actually people who think it will take Avatars ww spot?
It'll take Avatars spot.
The Matrix might not have been overly gruesome, but it is a very violent movie. PG-13 action movies are ridiculously sanitized.

The final Hunger Games film is the worst film I've seen this year and that includes Terminator Genesys.
At least the latter you could laugh at. Hunger Games was pure 100% boredom. Garbage stuff.
All that budget probably went onorblowing children up. Only events in the film I can actually recall involved someone jogging or running away *shrug*black goo turning people in to statues
No they aren't.
No they aren't.
When's the actuals supposed to be comin today?
True Grit had some pretty violent content and still managed a PG-13:

Actuals are usually in the afternoon. I think we got Star Wars just before noon last week though.
Updated for today--It looks like TFA is falling behind Furious 7 and Age of Ultron presales.
TFA:
http://www.gewara.com/movie/224406330
12-30 5,936 (10 days before premier)
12-31 6 pm 10,629 (9 days before premier)
01-01 9 pm 21,252 (8 days before premier)
01-02 10:30 pm 28,715 (7 days before premier)
01-03 9:30 pm 38,139 (6 days before premier)
01-04 5 pm 46,761 (5 days before premier)
When has "red mist" been the line at which you separate "violent" from "ridiculously sanitized?"
You used a joke gif from a movie that features a clown shoving a pencil through someone's eye until it disappears into their skull, and then later features one of the film's heroes driving around with his eyeball and jaw exposed due to the horriffic, suppurating wounds on the side of his face.
My comment might have been hyperbolic
