Well, looks like Jem has been officially dropped from theaters. Lol

I was just going to ask about this. 2 weeks, and dropped everywhere. Didn't even make half of its $5 million budget.

We'll be seeing this on ABC Family by Thanksgiving.

And the reviews for Spectre don't seem all that glowing. Is it that big of a drop off from Skyfall?

Del Toro fans seemed more concerned with fighting over whether or not it was Horror or "Gothic Romance"

I'm not entirely sure all of them even went to go see the movie.

Basically: a lot of 'em went Gaming Side on the film - argue about the mechanics without actually playing the motherfucker.

Del Toro had literally said in an interview the movie was a gothic romance. By now Del Toro fans should expect the supernatural elements are rarely the horror of his films.

saw spectre in imax what a garbage movie hope it does poorly. 1st half is serviceable 2nd half insults your intelligence

When I see a movie like Jem bomb on a 5 million dollar budget I'm just thinking I want a studio to give me that much money to produce a piece of shit that would probably make more.

I mean The Room had a bigger budget so I guess that's not guaranteed.

I've managed to catch the last few Bond films at the cinema, not had the opportunity for this yet but isn't garbage a stretch? What did you think of Skyfall? For comparisons sake.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
In addition, American Ultra “underperformed,” and Witch Hunter — released after the quarter ended — required a $7.2 million write down

Even though Lions Gate pre-sells international rights to limit their exposure in North America, Witch Hunter underperformance still required them to do a write-down.

Sorry Vin.

Edit: Usually their exposure is usually around $10 million, excluding P&A.

skyfall i thought was decent but really all these bond films have been significantly inferior to rogue nation and even ghost protcol

Internal Weekend holds for Spectre were poor. Its looking like $200M domestic might be off the table if next weekend doesn't see a rebound.

Room has barely played anywhere though. Jem opened everywhere.

He meant The Room, legendarily bad movie

not to be confused with this year's Room, which by most accounts is actually quite good with two incredible lead performances

The idea that "Skyfall is Shit" is an idea that isn't very large at all.. Nobody's going to look at his legacy, such as it is, and say "It was all shit except Casino."

Agreed. Not the biggest fan of Skyfall but it was a good movie and the general consensus of it that I've seen is some thinking it's the best bond movie in a long time.

Quantum of Solace will always be remembered poorly, and for good reason.

quantum's about equal with skyfall for me.

I liked james bond and the way they handled the females a lot more in quantum of solace. plus it's action and the way bond dealt with violence and death was better too.

skyfall is a nicer looking film, more tightly plotted (though not a better one) and a far better theme (like honestly a top 3 bond theme, shirley bassey-esque classy as fuck)

i would even go as far as saying it's the best looking spy-action movie of all time. good lord the stuff in shanghai especially. that shot of berenice marlohe in the opposite building. Deakins is gonna kill it with the blade runner sequel. wallpaper-folder tier.

Jem being completely pulled from theatres in 2 weeks after a 2400+ theatre debut is crazy. Talk about grabbing your ball and going home. Even Oogieloves made it 3 weeks.

If his legacy of bond is "all shit except casino", I don't think he will look back at his career too fondly.

Skyfall is generally adored by the critics and the public. There is a percentage of people who don't like it, but that's to be expected.

Honestly, 2/4 is pretty good. Its usually only one good film per Bond run.

Bruh that shanghai shot of bond on the boat, with the flames in the background.

Whooooo boy.

Eh. Everyone talks a good game about Star Wars but I have a feeling that the final weekend number will be record breaking for December but ultimately no where near the three day record held by Jurassic World.

The crazy high SW tracking kind of masks the other big news there, Legendary is going to shit the bed again with Krampus

Fixed.

I think Star Wars is about to shatter December box office logic.

I think this is about a month before it opened.

The Fact that almost all of those were way off the mark in both directions should point out the accuracy of early tracking.

xaosslug is moving this week, so I will be doing the new thread on Sunday. If it's late, then you can blame me :p

Bond is in good shape for $200m unless Hunger Games finale just demolishes everything

Yeah. This weekend's drop is in the right range to hit $200M, considering that Thanksgiving is coming up soon.

The Martian is still going to finish ahead of Spectre domestically though.

Speaking of Hunger Games, tracking is not pointing to that lost Catching Fire audience returning for the finale.

Shouldn't have split the movies

Yeah, I'm not feeling the mega hype for the next Hunger Games. I mean I'm sure its still a lock for $300m-$350m, but its no Deathly Hollows part 2 size jump

General consensus of Skyfall is strong, don't know many that didn't like it. I felt Spectre was decent but nothing really happens after the initial opening. Opening was fantastic though, was always going to be hard to top. The way James unbuttons his suit with an assault rifle hanging from his arm was the icing on the cake, Bond swagger always gets me. Lots of it in here

Opening weekend for Mockingjay Pt 2 is currently tracking about the same as the last film ($120-125M). I also think that Star Wars is going to kill Hunger Games' late legs this year. Mockingjay Pt1 was sitting at $277M going into the same weekend that Star Wars will launch in, so it made a decent amount of its gross in late December and January, despite being a month+ old.
