You're right Cheebo, this one thread fatigued me. You've got me.

We're past the point of fatigue. The fanbase has already ruined any potential interest in Star Wars for me.

Weak argument. If you let others ruin something for you, that says more about you than a 'fanbase'

Pro tip: all hardcore fanbases seem bad from someone who isn't a part of it.

well no, you did it to yourself.. Again it is one's own decision to pay attention to shit or not (like me and sports). Oh well, that sucks.

Yeah, no. I had an interest in Force Awakens. Cheebo took it out back and shot it. He's like Sculli with Avatar, but super condescending. It's even worse now that the movie is a hit, which literally everyone in the world saw coming

Lies detected. No fanbase is as nearly divisive or poisonous as the Star Wars one. It's -really- bad.

no way it dips 20%. Box office watchers will lose their shit if it does. No way.

I don't even think Disney offering complimentary hand jobs from someone dressed up as your Disney Princess or Prince fetish would get a drop that low.

You call yourself a wrestling fan yet claim terrible fanbases can ruin your interest in something.

I do believe at this point, sir, you have worked yourself into a shoot.

NO

This is wrong.

They're usually very bad anyhow from insane non-inclusive circles.

Don't be a pickle head.

Nah wrestling is dumb. It's something you hate watch. I also haven't seen a show in months.

If you tell a super hardcore Star Wars fan you don't like the movies, it's like you shot their brother with a crossbow

Nah. You just feel slighted by them right now so you think they are the worst.

I do live a life of perceived slights, but nah. They're the worst. Number one with a bullet. I'd provide evidence, but people already did way earlier.

All fanbases tend to have fringe people that rub people the wrong way, certainly, but it's far more prevalent in Star Wars than other franchises. I'd peg it as the biggest film IP in the world. And the fans have the thinnest skin by far.

It's funny how you mention thin skin as you seem very sensitive in these threads if someone dares to challenge your opinion.

hmm

Am I still a super hardcore Star Wars fan if I think the prequels are flaming piles of dogshit?

If not I don't really give a shit lol

My wife and I haven't had a chance to see TFA yet. We exchanged gifts this morning and this was a part of what she got me:

First of all, my wife is definitely wife material. Second of all, looks like we'll add a few more ticket sales to TFA within a few days.

I dunno, one look at Gaming's GOTY threads and it's pretty clear that Bloodborne fans and MGS5 haters are trying their absolute hardest to reach the same level of zealotry we're seeing for Star Wars. Making up for lost time, I suppose.

I think you're confusing me with someone who isn't addicted to opium and throwing footballs at ceiling fans

Everyone has accepted that now

I don't think there is a single Star Wars fans that loves EVERYTHING about it. I doubt there are long essays on why the film Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure is superior to Schindler's List.

The only franchise I know of that has some hardcore fans that will defend to the death every single piece of media released for it is some MCU fans currently. And even then the they are very few and far between. I guess some fans of the various Young Adult franchises too. But I am too old to even know any hardcore Divergent, Maze Runner or Hunger Games kiddies.

It sounds an awful lot like your 'fatigue' is really just a desire to be contrarian. It's obvious that what others think and how they feel is important to you, and quite suggestive towards your own feelings, and you clearly dislike the perceived enjoyment fans of this franchise display towards it.

It does seem as another poster said that this is more about you than the actual fanbase, especially since it's entirely predicated on your own, personal perception of it.

Contrarian would imply I don't like anything about Star Wars, which is false. The first 30 minutes of Force Awakens are baller as hell. Rogue One looks sick.

So yes, the fanbase is my issue. Hate to break it to you, but ya'll need to tranquilo.

I've been calling Cheebo condescending and annoying for months! Get on my level, Lee
People say the exact same thing about Bobby in nearly every Star Wars thread so I see it as a compliment!

And the more I think about it the least favorite franchise fanbase I personally can think of is those who obsess over the young adult book adaptions, definitely. Hunger Games, Maze Runner, Divergent...etc. All look like the exact same movie to me. I don't get it.

I honestly cannot comprehend the obsession with those type of movies at all. I think I am just too old.

What "fanbase" are you looking at? The one on NeoGAF?

If you actually choose to go to a more SW oriented website or even a subreddit you'll find a lot of back and forth discussion on the positives and negatives of TFA.

People are snapping back at you in this thread because you claim dislike for the movie, over and over again, hate the fanbase but yet in this thread alone you are the 4th most prevalent poster. Some people are probably to the point of thinking, yes we get it you dont like this movie nor its fans, so why are you still participating?

I actually thought the second half was better...did most people feel the opposite?

Carrie Fisher was...yeah. She seemed hunched over whenever she was walking around too. Her delivery "Tell me!" To Artoo near the end every time I see it makes me cringe.

Her acting in it was baaaaaad.

Or am I not allowed to have issue with TFA at all.

Do you really hate me so much that you want me to go on Reddit

Flip it around. How do you think people feel about Cheebo essentially running up and throwing a pie in their face while yelling OH MY GOD STAR WAAAAAAAAAARS

Also, most of my posts are terrible jokes, getting taunted by Bobby, or Creed references. I'm sure the world can spin on with me talking about not liking the new movie a few times. You'll live.

I actually thought the second half was better...did most people feel the opposite?

Eh, it depends. I like the first 30 because it sets up all new shit before falling into the status.

The first 30 minutes were the best. Then the movie died when Han/Chewie and that awful CGI monster sequence, and it just kinda lies there lifelessly going through the motions of that not-Catina scene with not-Yoda until the First Order strikes. It gets better, although the entire Death Star thing seems at odds with the "finding Luke" plot of the first half, and there's no real dramatic tension or stakes involved in its destruction, outside Poe's lip service to a ticking clock or whatever.

Yeah I kinda mentally checked out during the tentacle monster part. A complete black hole in the middle of the movie.

This is a thread about Star Wars breaking nearly every box office record imaginable every day. What in the world are you expecting?

People to be meh about its insane performance? This is a once in a decade box office occurance. What you are saying you don't like is what is exactly what should be expected in this thread. Yet you post here as much (if not more?) than most others. You don't like the entire point of this thread it sounds like. Which is fine, but I don't get why you keep posting how it annoys you.

Pretty much, yeah. That's a good way to put it.

Though I'll say that some of the Han/Chewie stuff does get better, but initially, it was rough. And yes, the death star stuff never lands. It never felt like it had weight. Certainly not the one you get in ANH.

If I let the shitty parts of a fanbase get to me I'd probably hate everything. Every fanbase has their weird, shitty, annoying portion.

I just ignore the weird people. That includes people who irrationally hate on something and irrationally love something. They're both annoying af for similar reasons.

Carrie Fisher is the major weak link in the movie, which is saying something because she wasn't really that bad.

She was pretty bad though.

She wasn't that bad because she didn't have that much heavy lifting to do.

Bittersweet reunion with Han was OK because they just had to be together and look kinda mournful.

No biggie. Wasn't expecting much from her so wasn't disappointed. Imagine she will have the same screentime and as much to do next time. Maybe a hug with Luke and directions to whatever mcguffin they are after

I expect you to not attempt to verbally backhand the shit out of people who aren't as passionate with Star Wars as you are. You don't do it to me, but holy shit you've done it a ton and it's really weird.

You want to give me shit for snark when you're basically the Snark Jedi. Being passionate about a franchise shouldn't really give you agency to prepare a sarcasm rocket launcher
