It's ok ukgaf, I think it's kinda weird to go to the movies on Christmas too. It's apparently a really popular thing to do though
Oh, Christ. Each month would be a massacre. So many bannings. Can you imagine how gaming side would be if we got continually revised estimates for how video games were selling during NPD day?

50 is still double what any movie has ever made on Christmas day.
This is insane. The pull of a good Star Wars movie is crazy. (Eight people seeing it for their second or third time tomorrow with me. SW just demands being seen in theater.)
This shit will topple Avatar. Just you wait.
49-51 estimate update.
Could you add a link? I don't know if this is from Deadline, that guy on the box office forums, or elsewhere.

The prior record for Christmas day was $24m, so TFA more than doubled it. And that was Sherlock Holmes' opening day. 0_o
I can appreciate Tarantino just doing whatever he wants, and he mostly makes kickass movies, but holy shit I can't handle a movie with a 3.15 hour runtime. Even with Goggins!

I'll say this, I'd rather watch a 3.15 hour sub-par Tarantino film than a 3 hour King Kong film. Jesus, Peter Jackson.
What is the official runtime? I'm seeing 2h 48m and just over 3 hours.
Anecdotal experience: While waiting in line for Hateful Eight, I noticed people talking about how good Star Wars was, or how they still needed to see it, and another person saying they would go see it with the person again. It really feels like Star Wars is having a buzz. I don't remember hearing any of this for any of the prequels.
Uh... This thread is really worrying me as someone who was excited about going to see the Hateful Eight.
I'll just make sure I'm well rested.I'll say this, I'd rather watch a 3.15 hour sub-par Tarantino film than a 3 hour King Kong film. Jesus, Peter Jackson.
Well this makes me feel a bit more positive. It's VERY Tarantino. Got a lot in common with Reservoir Dogs. Twice the length, though.
I think I'll pass. Nothing Ive seen or heard has been very good.

Star wars, as usual, is trailing behind on the domestic:international ratio, and is finding it hard to maintain even a 48:52 purely because of its stunning domestic performance.
50 is still double what any movie has ever made on Christmas day.
Then Disney will release Super The Force Awakens. Then next year Star wars gets bopped by Batman v Superman: champion edition, which will make 300 bajillion dollars.
Count on it.
Maybe.
Most of the time.
