Really? I guess it's been a while since I watched EP4, but where is it made explicit that Vader intentionally let the Millenium Falcon escape?

I mean, it's a bit stupid that all they'd have to do is shoot down 6 TIE Fighters to get away, but letting them get away seems incredibly dumb and risky. Vader completely lucked out that the Rebel base was within firing distance of the Death Star. They could have been on the other side of the galaxy, and planned an organized attack with weeks of preparation time.

THey put a tracking device on the Falcon. THere is a scene right after their escape with Vader and Tarkin. Tarkin says "I'm taking a big risk Vader. This had better work" or something like that.

Theres a scene right after the Millenium Falcon escapes where Tarkin asks if Vader is sure the tracking beacon has been secured on the ship, that he is taking an awfully big risk blah blah etc. Basically they are tracking the Falcon to the rebel base so that they can blow it up.

Huh, I definitely remember that scene. I think my assumption was that they put a tracking beacon on that ship just because it was weird and mysterious, not because they intended to let it get away. So I guess that makes Obi-Wan's sacrifice kinda meaningless? Or was it only concluded that they should be allowed to escape once they got out of the hangar?

I don't appreciate this post.

I don't appreciate this post at all.

I already felt old. Now I feel really old.

If you feel old now, imagine how old you are going to feel when Star Wars is out of fashion and Disney is rebooting old IPs you aren't even nostalgic for.

Disney Teen Cinematic Universe begins with iCarly, which leads directly into Zack & Cody's Suite Life. Then the inevitable iCarly + Hannah Montana + High School Musical team-up which shatters all Star Wars box office records because movie tickets are $25 due to inflation and the inevitable VR helmet surcharge.

Star Wars will never be out of fashion. Just waiting for the next installment.

We will all be old and wrinkled and there will still be Star Wars for us to enjoy.

Don't worry, Star Wars will retake all box office records once Disney finally reboots A New Hope, starring one of the guys from One Direction as Luke and an old, grizzled James Franco as Obi-Wan.

Everything goes out of fashion sooner or later, especially if they intend to release a new Star Wars movie every year. At some point there will have to be some kind of hiatus on the IP, just as there was with James Bond (the only film series I can think of that has had any kind of real longevity).

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???

Replace iCarly with Thats So Raven and I'd watch that shit day 1...

I'm basing this on the Rebels videos I'm watching on youtube. Voice just doesn't sound the same, but that might be the post-processing and not James Earl Jones.

His voice is really hit or miss in Rebels. At first I thought it was a dude doing a mediocre impersonation. At other times it sounds just like the man himself.

This is dumb and nonsensical as the posts about the back to the future reboot everyone likes to bring up.

60th anniversary, they'll reboot the whole fucking thing. Watch.

We'll be too old to give a shit by then so fine by me. In reality though there has to be an age cut-off right. People won't be telling their grandkids to leave them alone that they are arguing about franchise films online when they are 70+...right?

The hip hop cinematic universe needs to happen first. We already have NWA and now Tupac.

What was the longest hiatus for Bond? Like 6 years? I'm already starting to think about 10, 11, 12. Daisy, Boyega, Oscar, and Driver are still fairly young. Will they have ageing makeup for the sequel, sequel trilogy or will it be in a not too distance future like we should have gotten with Ford, Hamil, and Fischer in the early 90's?
