Joining a high pop server when the last 'big queeus' were 2000s at the absolute highest isn't really the same as being stuck on said high pop servers then the queues are in the 6000s.

Not to mention that you hardly ever actually got that 2k Q. Even on Stormrage, I have hit a 2k queue maybe 3x within the past four months...all within the last couple weeks. I have a good amount of 400 queues on Tuesday, but acting like this is even remotely expected is silly.

Well it's been 6 hours and a half and I'm down to the last 500. Rest assured, I'm not logging out for the rest of the fucking week.

I would like to see Blizzard suspend people for X amount of time if they are caught afk botting/afk in RFC, etc. I get why people are doing it, but it is also one of the reasons why we are getting screwed right now. If you aren't playing, log the fuck out.

Man I can't even continue in Gorgrond because the Savage Fight Club is bugged and the quest receiver won't show up. Done everything else I can in the zone and now I hit this wall.

My questline in Gorgrond is bugged too. I finished everything and had the quest Message from Talador or something but it won't appear.

Can't believe how bad it is in NA still.

No queues at all today on Lightbringer (EU). Managed to get up to 95 - Draenor is brilliant so far on all fronts especially as someone who is nostalgic for old warcraft games and Burning Crusade.

I miss the old questing. Now if you hit a bugged quest that was supposed to send you to your new questing area you get stuck. Before if you went to where you were supposed to go the NPC would just be there and if you were of appropriate level they would have quests for you. I know they can offer some better questing with instancing and such but the structure of the quests should never gate you in a fail state.

Which goes to the point that some whispers saying that the launch for Warlords is bigger than Wrath ever was may ring true.

94 now, Draenor is so cool. I love how big, primitive, and savage it is. Nice relief from Pandaria, which while cool, was too "beautiful".

Still want to race change to orc though, undead just don't fit in in this new neighborhood.

Yeah im playing Orc Warrior and riding the old Frostwolf from Alterac Valley. Its nice to RP.

Anyone on Alleria? How are queues?

I'm ready to get back in but waiting for that initial rush/bugs to get worked out. I don't mind waiting a few weeks, so many games coming out...

Halfway to 97 and started Spires.

Thoughts so far on the zones:
-Tanaan Jungle (Intro): Was pretty awesome actually. Gonna be real interesting to see what they end up doing with that place.

-Frostfire Ridge: Had some cool quests, but man, the environment started to drag on me after a while. Just snow and rocks (and lava) everywhere.

-Gorgrond: Awesome zone. Some pretty interesting quests as well, and the Laughing Skulls are hilarious ("Burn it all!").
One quest in particular was kinda interesting:
Basically revolved around this guy who's getting high and jacking with these mushrooms and shit only to be taken in by it all and you end up having to kill him after he turns into a monster. He just wanted to share!
Probably my favorite zone so far.

-Talador: Pretty zone, but starts to be like Frostfire in that the environment feels samey after a while.
Has some pretty interesting questlines in there though, so it's worth doing most of the zone.

Orgrim Doomhammer just came and left did he??

Yeah...I was kinda surprised at how all quickly that went down.

Friggin' Blackhand though. Dude's a damn monster.
A real shame about Maarad though.

Finally was able to play long enough to finish the Tanaan intro stuff. Which was awesome.

But Shadowmoon. Holy shit! This is an amazing zone.

It seems like a normal expansion experience to me since it is the weekend after launch.
This isn't a normal expansion experience. Not even close.

Changing my ice lance button hotkey after like 7 years is painful :(

It has been a longtime for long queue's and looks like Draenor puts a lot of people back in swing it fucking sucks yes i understand it but i can say MoP wasn't super smooth also i had the experience when going on the gunship from the alliance went off to pandaria same thing happend stuck on that ship because everyone want to the same thing. It happens and i there working on it hey at least there transparent what there doing every hour. They will give us gametime just wait.

Overall i have a good experience with the expansion the questing is damn fun and draenor is beautiful.

MOP was smooth as shit compared to WOD, the main issue was the alliance gunship one which didn't even affect Horde characters anyway, and that was an opening night issue only.

Which goes to the point that some whispers saying that the launch for Warlords is bigger than Wrath ever was may ring true.

lmao, not even close. The reason every realm is locked @ peak is because they drastically lowered the population cap. Not to mention that with all the joined realms that lowers the amount of "real servers".

Can you skip zones and go start a quest chain in different zones? I think I'm gonna be level 100 before I even step foot in like 2 or 3 zones, mainly Shadowmoon which I really wanna quest in.

Are you using the 20% boost? 2x now I've run out of quests and had to do bonus objectives to get xp to get to next level and next quest

Shadowmoon Valley is indeed beautiful.

After the downtime last night I haven't had any problems logging on, barring a few lag spikes here and there. The way quests and storylines are set up are fantastic. I have some problems with garrisons and how they relate to crafting, but theny facilities are still fairly basic so we'll see.

It's not hard to imagine otherwise when thousands of people are stuck in huge queues every day since launch.

The queues are largely a result of lowered population caps on servers.

Don't get me wrong, I defintely think there will be a bigger than normal bump in the sub numbers. But there's no way it'll be WotLK type numbers

My first impression is that Shadowmoon Valley is a very annoying questing location. It seems like every quest starts and ends on the top of a cliff that is only reachable by a single path. Every time I think I'm getting close to the marker, it takes me another minute figuring out what path to take.

Nay, but I am doing a lot of the side quests you find and bonus objectives.
I had the same problem in Mists too, I hit the level cap before experiencing Townlong Steppes and the Dread Wastes :(

Edit - I had no idea Shadowmoon was just the starting zone for the alliance! Oh man, what a bummer

So people are exploiting low level dungeons to stay logged in? Wish I'd thought of that before logging off earlier today. Currently at 8 hours in queue with another hour estimated wait.

Nah, bumped them back up this morning.

9:00 a.m. PST

We’re continuing to monitor realms and track any individual issues as they occur. We’re still seeing some issues occurring now that Europe is in their peak playtime, but with greatly reduced frequency compared to before maintenance.

All realms are now set back up to their normal population caps. Queues being experienced now are due to demand beyond what the realms are normally capable of handling, and we’ll be looking into how to reduce them further.

And they raised the caps temporarily for all realms soon after.

The launch is huge, but I don't think we're seeing a return to late TBC/Lich King sub levels. It's more a symptom of how stacked some servers are population wise, which in turn is an indictment of what a sorry mess Blizzard let these servers lapse into, with some bursting at the seams and others left to rot. CRZ probably helped, but eh.

It's also why they should have aggressively pushed free realm transfers out of the overstuffed servers on release. The exodus of players fleeing hours-long queues might have saved some dying realms, and at the very least it would have earned them extra cash via transfer payments, anyhow.

Using the 20% pot is a waste of Garrison resources TBH except on alts down the road. You'll want/need them later and find yourself short awhile. Especially since it takes 2k to upgrade to Garrison Level 3, and then even more on top of that to upgrade the buildings.

Garrisons actually make questing relevant for alts. I mostly just leveled my alts via dungeons. I don't think you can get followers any other way can you? All my followers are via questing.

I lived through the queues in MoP, but this is getting a little ridiculous.

My characters are on Area 52, (Big mistake) and I entered the queue five minutes after I woke up today. The line was about 7000 people. I went throughout the entirety of my day, slowly watching the numbers dwindle down as I went. As of now, I'm still 1601 in the queue.

It is now getting to the point in which I'm getting tired and about ready to hop back into bed. What that means is that this queue is going to outlive the time it takes me to get through the entirety of a waking day.

I'm probably going to put off bed tonight and bunker down in front of the computer so I can put as much time as I possibly can into the game. It seems that I need to actively disrupt my sleep schedule in order to even be able to play World of Warcraft on my server.

Seeing WoW's reddit community go private until its creator is able to log in again is hilarious. I hope this all gets fixed soon, I see posts from some of my friends at level 100 and I'm desperate to get in there and experience the content. It's frustrating when I'm held back from getting to endgame not by my own skill or dedication, but by server limits.

A quick question, if anyone's still reading: Do these free transfers to other servers include free rides back once this turbulent start settles out? Or would I be leaving my guild behind permanently unless I fork over extra money to transfer back?

Only specific servers get the free transfers. There's no reversing it for free either. You have to pay to move your character if your server isn't eligible for free transfers, and you have to pay to go back.

That's what I was wondering. That people are more clustered these days on a handful of high pop servers. And definitely agreed on the transfer thing.

That is a serious bummer. This is a social game where people have long since locked themselves down in server communities with large guilds, and arranging a server migration isn't exactly easy. That's likely going to prevent a lot of people from taking the server transfer option. If it were a free ride back I'd happily play on a lower pop server temporarily and join my guildies at a later date, but I don't want to pay Blizzard money for these launch woes.

The worst part about all of this is that the actual expansion that I had the pleasure of playing two hours of on launch day seems fantastic. It would be terrible if one of the most promising WoW expansions in a good while were to have this black cloud hanging over its head from a botched launch. Hopefully this ship gets turned around soon.

Got to 95 today! Actually the server I'm on was really good today. Only had to wait in a que of like 8 minutes. Anyone else get a bugged quest in Gorgond? 2/4 story quest, yet I can't finish it. I have a ! on the map, but no NPC to be found. I just skipped it for now and went to Talador.

Server performance was worlds better and I only ran into lag for a small 20 minute window in Gorgrond. Got to 96 and didn't want to stop. Played 8 hours straight when I had set a personal limit of 3. Oops.

Sucks if you were on one of the now overpopulated realm since the beginning. Not my fault other people came here in droves over time.

Had I gotten a "hey this server has become overpopulated since you've been gone, would you like to move elsewhere?" I would have taken it.
