When was this? I've seen that band four or so times and am pretty goddamn sure she never did that. These were fairly recent performances too.
Every band has a off night. I knew when I posted I'd so get this feedback because I've read that they are great live according to most.
You were at the show but you weren't paying attention to the loud band on stage?I was witnessed Linkin Park get booed off the stage before Metallica so they must have been pretty bad, I'm not a fan so wasn't paying attention to them.
Sleigh Bells. All I could hear was bass and the occasional vocal come through with a few power chords. Not a boring show by any means, but damn if it didn't sound like absolute shit.

Pretty badass damn
I'm going to say there's a good to great chance what you saw was guitar techs working on guitars. There's literally no point in having "roadies" play backstage. Musicians that can play Manson songs are a dime a dozen.
I hear you but I cannot imagine how disappointing it would be to go to a MMJ show and have it be lackluster or just ok.
What year was this?
Weird. I've seen them four times between 2011 and 2015 and I never picked up on her doing anything like that. And she'd def take breaks to talk, so I think I'd notice the mic change.2013. It was extremely fucking obvious, too. Looking at ticketmaster reviews, I see a couple of people have posted reviews complaining about it as well.
But, yeah. It was crazy obvious. She was thrashing around/dancing the whole time, with massive fans blowing on her, while the vocals were fucking flawless CD quality. It was absurd to think we were supposed to believe a mic would be able to handle everything it was going through without picking up any of the noise (like fans blowing on it). She would talk a bit between songs and it would sound completely different, like a person actually speaking into a mic should, and then they'd go back to a song and it'd sound like a CD again suddenly.
EDIT: Yeah, even watching 2015/16 videos on youtube, she is clearly not actually singing. This video is laughable, especially towards the end. She is fucking thrashing, he hair hitting her mic and everything, you never hear anything but flawless vocals. Towards the middle there is also a point where she drags her hand across her mouth, which through some wizardry doesn't fuck with the vocals at all.
Can confirm that Dan Deacon puts on the best shows ever. Every time it's just so much fun and positive energyMatisyahu - guy is awful, just sits there and yaps.
Best show - Dan Deacon. Front row & on psychedelics. Two feet away from his face. I had just got dumped and then saw him, it was life changing. He interacts with the crowd so well.. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Also I've seen Armin Van Burren live many times and he always delivers, but this was small club stuff and pre-main stage clubs.
I also love love love Pretty lights live, especially at Red Rocks. You're in for a treat if you're a fan.
My uncle told me a story about the one time he saw "The Doors" - He said it was the worst show ever. Jim Morrison came out with a bottle of jack and crashed in the drums, which ended up cancelling the show.

Edit: I mean, they've never done "Blood" like they do on the album because they save it for last and Maria sounds/looks tired. Hell in the video above, it doesn't sound like it does on the album. Words are said differently or for not as long and such. I find it hard to believe that they'd record a live version of the song with slightly different vocals so she can lip sing over it. Easier to believe she's talented and the sound engineers know their shit.

But realizing that the Super Bowl halftime show represented a "surreal-like, once in a life time crazy thing to do," the band decided to make a lone exception. "We decided that, with Anthony singing live, that we could still bring the spirit and freedom of what we do into the performance." They recorded a unique version of the song that would be played behind Kiedis' vocals, so while it wasn't technically live, no audience will ever hear that exact performance again.
When did you see him? I saw him at ACL a few years ago and dragged about 4-5 people with me that didnt know much of his stuff and they were all incredibly impressed. Some said the best show they saw that year. We were up fairly close but he really killed it I thought, totally chill right as the sun started to come down it was a great show.
The Vines. The singer was drunk off his ass and it was just a terrible performance.
Yeah but the Super Bowl ain't the norm. Even the article says RHCP were complying with what the NFL wanted. That is *exactly* what bands do when they want to get away with miming performances.

Saw The National like 2 years back and it was easily the most boring fucking show I've ever been to. They have the on-stage charisma of a sedated sloth, and the whole crowd was just awkwardly swaying like those dumb blow-up swaying dudes outside of used car shops.
I don't think they're meant to be listened to in arenas/stadiums/anything other than, like, a super intimate venue.
so many experts on the sobriety of others ITT
I'm sending the above ITM vid to a friend of mine who does sound engineering and live mixing. See what he thinks.
Angels and Airwaves, or more specifically Tom Delonge. Saw them briefly at a festival. Dude was drunk as hell, and his singing was all over the place.
On top of this, when I saw them I couldn't even hear Tom's guitar, it never got corrected.
You were at the show but you weren't paying attention to the loud band on stage?

Maybe he was at a festival? Of you want to see a headliner sometimes you have to eat a lot of shit first.
i've seen gwar live
GWAR as a stage show is the best stage show i've ever seen
GWAR as a music act is the worse music act i've ever seen
Seen mars volta 9 times and every show was amazing. That rhcp tour they had a last minute replacement drummer filling in and were mostly improvising.yes! I saw them open for the Peppers too and they were awful
Huh, I saw them back when they were touring with Slayer and others (Unholy Alliance Tour), and they sounded fine to me, but I'm also not a Mastodon fan (just went for Slayer)
