Wuchang: Fallen Feathers |OT| Saving dat pirate booty

I don't think a player should be punished for wanting to use the next shrine after a boss encounter only to die to it, losing your xp etc, because you are low health after the fight, it's really just a 'lol gotcha' by the developers, just like how jumpscares are just a loud sound and not actually something scary.
Will have to do some testing when I get to that part and see if it's a 100% thing or just RNG. Sounds like a low blow.

Strawman argument. Didn't say I "hate hard games". You said that. I've played and finished all the other souls games that people consider hard.
So how far you get? If it's a refund. It's less than 2 hours. You refunded a souls game on difficulty after beating all other souls games? How's that remotely make sense?

I've played myself maybe 2 hours. Probably less. It's difficult and I've died several times. But I'm not being destroyed. Not even remotely. I need To learn the combat better frankly.

But I'm enjoying it. I'm near the Buddha cliffs shrine btw

Lol. It's very very early. Where there are claw marks on the ground and a dude standing in front of a door. Just don't feel like the difficulty should be that high that early.

What? You've not even fought the "meant to die against" boss yet? You aren't 2 hours in. You was 40 minutes in. Maybe.

I'm now curious who was even killing you? Where you were at, was just bottom scrubs and just 2 at most.

You can't be serious

I am seeing much hate for "performance" online.

Maybe I'm an idiot. But this game runs smooth as silk. Playing on PS5. This game absolutely is cryptic though and I'm already feeling lost on combat. But that's part of learning. Having fun for sure

If It wasnt running smooth it would be a real problem since resolution can be low as 600p and high as 900p.

The dude in front of the door. I might just be too anxious to play the Where the winds meet beta since I got in. Party of me hopes the refund request gets declined.
The dude in front of the door on the right? He's an NPC. If you're at the claw marks area just outside the temple….

You've not fought the boss yet? Genuinely asking. It's a fight on water and you're meant to die

No idea the resolution it's at. But it's butter smooth. I'm having fun and not going to over complicate what's upscale and what fps it runs at JUST AS long as it's smooth and playable and more importantly fun. I'm not benchmarking it. I'm just playing it. I'm impressed frankly so far.

Don't ask me. I'm asking him. Lol 😂

Yeah that boss whipped my ass and it's fine as expected really.
the reason I was asking is because there's no way he's talking about it. I just started the game but I think there's literally only 2 common enemies you fight before this and they don't even really attack you

I ran into tutorial boss within 5 mins

Do you get a weapon for beating it? Was thinking of reloading to try to beat it. I was just screwing around and I got it's health down quite a bit. You don't do a lot of damage, but it has a pretty easy attack pattern.

Wondered the prize myself. I just Kept playing. But leading up to that boss was legit just intro and nothing remotely difficult

My first death was that boss. As intended frankly. If you refund your game and not even played that boss and say "cuz it's hard" then I'm not sure what to tell
You

Yeah. Bigo bird fucker. Didn't mind loosing to him. Lasted longer against him than I did at the door. He is too the left.

I'm assuming he's talking about whatever boss you run into after that

It doesn't let you re-attempt it if you die so even if you were to die from it, the game just goes on

They did that pinwheel shit in honor of DS1

Cause you're not supposed to fight pinwheel early

But if you manage to meet up with him. You will always beat him.

Praise pinwheel

The boss is on the right and he's supposed to kill you. No one even attacks you going in. Just an NPC guy who puts you in the fight
It's just a regular enemy I'm talking about. I forget the weapon he was using. I think it was just a sword. Just felt it was too early in the game for that level of difficulty. It's too late now though. The refund went through. Maybe some other time I'll buy it again. I just don't have the patience right now.

This comment doesn't make any sense. You just "felt" 1 "regular" guy was "too tough" and now maybe you'll buy again?

I'm not even sure what occurred here. No idea. None. You claimed to be Mr. "I've beaten all souls games" and some puff daddy gives you 1 issue and you cry? I'm confused frankly

Lol. No I just made an assessment. If a regular enemy is this challenging this early and this game is big, nah. Might get it another time. I didn't hate it it anything. I can over come, just feels a bit tedious to deal with.

Never saw a "regular" enemy that was tough. My first death was the tutorial boss as intended.

Doesn't mean you can't die to the regulars prior. But it means you need to learn the controls more and what button does what.

I heard about some shrines after bosses being an ambush so I'm being paranoid by going backwards to the previous shrines to spend my souls before proceeding instead.

I've heard bonfires are few. Scares me lol 😂
It's alright in general, the reason for this one was because it was leading to a very nice shortcut.
Not sure. Think I've beaten 2 bosses? I'm at the Buddha cliff's shrine. But that boss is already dead.

Where am I? lol
I don't think the buddha cliff boss counts as a real boss, it's more like a mid-boss
boss 1 - at the top of the sanctum
boss 2 - at the end of the rise not far from the sanctum
boss 3 - at the bottom of the sanctum/blight town
boss 4 - at end of the "beach"

I'm now at the palace., haven't encountered a shrine there yet, but there was a shortcut back to the sanctum

Shoot.
had maybe 2 with "long"
Health bars. But apparently never faced a real boss. I've got to learn mechanics mainly and also items. It's complex.

Not even close lol, it's actually amongst the easier games in the genre thus far (I'm 7 hours in).

Eh, we are vets at this point, we aren't the best judges. I think the glaive guy to the left at the beginning is just as tough or tougher than a black night. Of course, I can beat DS 1 content easily at this point but a total noob to the genre will have a hard time with this imo.

No doubt, I'm comparing it to the first time I played Dark Souls 1 but yeah, dozens of games completed in the genre later means any successive game would be easier though I still found stuff like Lies of P plenty challenging, this isn't quite on that level (yet).

it clicked for me at the second boss, don't think I've really died anymore and my madness is almost zero lol, part of it is also one handed sword just being really good in all scenarios I think.
I'll probably use some items to boost my madness back up if I don't die at the next boss, the madness buffs are very juicy.

Give me tips. I wait here.

Tips

I went up one path and got to a buddha cliffside "bonfire", is that a dead end or am I blind?

Also, I don't get the curse stuff yet but it was cool to encounter a tough enemy to get my souls back.

Switch to one handed sword 🤷

There's a ladder right next to it.

TY, I'm blind confirmed. I teleported back to the first one and looked around and it seems to be the only way forward lol

Btw, the attack rumble and hit detection is so nice with the starting blade. I find it funny that the dual sense is compatible with Game Pass on PC.
