WWDC 2013

I worry about this huge overhaul by Ive taking time away from adding/developing new features.

I can see them adding some stock widgets like Weather, Calender, Alarm, etc. But I highly doubt they will make them open to developers to include with their apps (like Android.)

looks like I might finally be able to move from my old broken 13" Macbook Pro 2.26 core duo old

so waiting for WWDC to see what new Retina Macbook Pros show up to upgrade to

not sure if I should just go ahead and get an iMac instead

what would you do GAF? I keep breaking my macbooks because of heavy use I take the thing anywhere currently have a USB keyboard and mouse connected to it because my keyboard is broken, my dvd slot is broken and my touchpad can't click

love the macbooks and portability but hungry for more power in the current iMacs

an a new design overhaul that's fresh and pleasing on the eye will excuse a lack of new big features

just so damn tired of the same exact look

They should be updating soon to Haswell, which is supposed to be more power-efficient, but not necessarily more powerful, I think. That would be helpful for Macbooks, but not iMacs.

so getting a good iMac now might hold me over until I really need a new laptop unless the retina display at 15 inches can blow away a 27 inch macbook LCD

that is the other choice I am looking for what would be good for my eyes

not going to use it for games much. Right now I only care about what can run EVE Online on max

i would love a new (as in updated)

* macbook
* cinema display
* iphone

and a

* i watch

But seriously is the cinema display retina already? Or could they release a retina cinema display too?

I disagree. More customize ability will make up for people bored with the os but just a new paint job will get boring pretty quick.

If I'm not mistaken, the previous Mac Mini refreshes have been during the summer, haven't they? I'm curious if there will be anything coming up soon.

The last update was during the fall if I recall correctly.

That said, since 2011, the Mac Mini launches always came out of nowhere for me lol

Will the Macbook Pro Retina get a price drop?

Unlikely, I think, until the point at which the non-Retina models get retired (which doesn't seem to be happening quite yet).

However, the standard specs may get bumped in ways that lower your projected upgrade costs (i.e. more RAM standard, more storage, and so on).

So what do we think we're going to get from WWDC?

Very likely:

- MacBook spec bumps
- 10.9
- iOS7
- HEARTWARMING STORIES

Maybe:

- New Mac Pro
- iRadio

lol no:

- TV Set
- iWatch
- new iOS hardware

Sounds about right to me, though I'd put the Mac Pro into the 'very likely' column. Haswell has a Xeon processor out, IIRC.

As a sort of wild card, I wouldn't be entirely surprised by an update to the Apple TV firmware/OS that'd add some additional features (or at least mirror the new look of iOS).

sound about right. If I had to bet, I would put the Mac Pro in the Very Likely category. This is the ideal venue for them to talk about it and they said it was getting updated in 2013, anyway.

Not like it was in doubt, but Apple has confirmed that the keynote will be happening on the 10th, likely around 10 AM PT/1 PM EST as usual.

If it does happen at that time, btw, it'll be starting at the same time as Microsoft's E3 keynote.

I agree with this. The Mac Pro I think will get its own release later on though I bet.

iRadio is still in limbo, but if it comes out and is as good as the free Pandora, I will switch to it if it puts the functionality in the music app if only just to be able to remove the Pandora app and save a space on my homescreen.

TV, no. LOL. iWatch? Not at this time if ever. iOS hardware will come in September/October as usual.

WWDC will be about iOS 7 and OS X 10.9 first and foremost with hopefully some MacBook updates. If not the Pro's, at least the Air's. I'm hoping for both. And I'm hoping for Haswell.

I think there will instead be something that is meant to replace the Mac Pro. No other reason why you let the brand wilt for so long without a spec bump. Question is whether such a thing would be a Pro counterpart to an existing line or a new thing altogether.

The thing I'm looking forward to the most, besides a hopefully revamped iOS7, is an AppleTV SDK.

Sure MacOS 10.9 will be nice, and new Macbooks as well, but the AppleTV is such a missed opportunity!

Yeah shame we won't be able to follow the keynote on GAF cause it will be down from E3 traffic.

something not visual related:

New Features:

While iOS 7 is heavy on design changes, the operating system also includes some various new features across the board. We previously reported that iOS 7 will likely include integration for Flickr and Vimeo in addition to improved in-car support for Maps and Siri. While the new interface will be a major change for consumers, sources say that iOS 7 is also an ambitious update for developer-focused features.

fingers crossed for some app communication and sharing APIs.

One source says that it is similar to the above design recently posted to Dribbble.

I liked the whole article, until ...

"According to people familiar with iOS 7′s development, Apple’s designers and engineers are prioritizing an overhaul of the iPhone’s version of iOS over the iPad’s software."

FUCK.

I think it should be the reversed.

The iPad really shows how much wasted space there is in iOS.

On the iPhone you can argue that things are simpler for a smaller screen and mobile experience.

Jony Ive’s new look for iOS 7: black, white, and flat all over http://t.co/j8PS6o07MJ

I hope the quick controls rumor is true.

Finally, Apple getting with the times and not hiding everything in menus.

I know Jony's a great industrial designer, but good UI design requires a forward thinking graphic designer. It seems like the flat approach is seemingly nice - but I do hope that isn't a regressive Black/White Swiss grid approach that has been plaguing GD in general.

This is all so exciting. I hope it works. I've generally been content with the UI of most of iOS but a brisk change of pace will be refreshing.
