WWDC23 Apple Keynote - Code new worlds

Felt like a missed opportunity to me that Sony didn't focus on watching 3D movies on PS VR2. They could have offered something like their Bravia Core streaming service but with 3D movies for VR instead. Now Apple's gonna do it.

This is all a bunch of bullshit. It's all fake.
We know the tech is limited. It will be somewhat pixelated, dim, sweaty and the rendered stuff will only occupy middle of your screen.
it is not capable of the quality they are presenting. It's more fake than a gaming monitors website ads

Okay well maybe when they get to the porn section of the presentation, they can sell me on it

If the display quality is good and it’s DCI-P3 colour accurate, I can see it being useful for editing video in the field without a monitor, but nothing here is new. All of this stuff has been done latency by Quest and HoloLens. Im
Not sure who is going to buy this at the price it’s going to come in at.

It's just software, they can add it easily enough, PSVR 1 can view 3D BluRays

The problem is that 3D BluRays are 1080p only. So streaming service with 4k 3D movies is needed for the best experience.

I know they can easily add it but I'm not sure if they will.

The front is a "lens for eyesight".. which would be fantastic as I was just about to ask about glasses correction.
Looks comfortable too unlike sweaty, very uncomfortable psvr2 rubber all around

Quest is also Facebook and most people hate facebook.

Hololens was a failure by MS that never really went anywhere.

Not many people are actively doing AR tech these days.

Zeiss support just sold me 100% on it.

Parody of actual AJUMP23
Imagine where gaming would be if we had developers with the amount of talent as these engineers.

All the talent is in other industries.
John Carmack is a better programmer than anyone at Apple. Easily.

Will Wright is probably better too.

Represent.

And he hasnt made a game in 1000 years

even still, hes the exception to the rule. Nowadays your average game dev is a recent college grad with blue hair.

this is next level engineering.

Movie theaters will have to respond.

Who is this for?

VR headsets I totally get. Immersion in another world.

But who needs all this AR shit?
You can look at documents and shit.. but not interact with them? Sorry I had to leave for a bit so I might have missed the input methods apart from gestures.
And watch movies, but I bet that gets a bit sweaty after a while.

No one needs it. Just like no one needs VR. Its just a neat tech for people with money to spend. I would love to enjoy my garden in the nice cool summer breeze while watching shows or reading a book in AR.

This is great attention to detail in terms of design.
Small details like this is why Apple is where it is today. People may scoff at the price of their tech or the fact that it is "closed ecosystem", but for many that is fine. Hell, some of us prefer it.
