Figured this but I don't like the idea of flashbacks in star wars. Its never been in the other films and would feel out of place.

Its a crappy and lazy narrative technique. There are better ways to communicate needed information. Its also starwars everybody knows the story.

Vader doesn't have to be alive to have some kind of an appearance, if it's a dream or vision or hologram as you suggested... I think people read this shit at face value and all they see is this wrestler running around the whole movie as Darth Vader.
