WWE star Sheamus confirmed to play...Darth Vader?!

If he is indeed Vader then it's not actually Lukes Daddy Vader but a guy in the costume that will confuse the cast with "But you died years ago!" "It can't be!".

What is the significance of casting him? I mean, if it's just the Vader suit why not cast some random extra for less money?

Because nobody would have made a thread about a struggling actor who is a paycheck away from having to do porn to pay rent who is wearing a costume in the new star wars.

Publicity. Wwe will hype this to no end. It'll make headlines outside the wwe universe too.

And heck he probably took the minimum pay, if anything at all.

Well, he's played Vader before and the experience from pro-wrestling doesn't hurt at all in terms of stunt work/fight choreography.

Wasn't there a rumor about Adam Driver's character and Vader? Something about him being kind of obsessive over recreating Vader's steps/journey, retrieving the burnt armor, maybe trying to fashion himself as a new Vader.

It's nuts how a professional athlete who's career has nothing to do with acting or drama can land a role like that in Hollywood.

For the most part, I agree with you. When it comes to professional wrestling (regardless how you feel about it personally) though, it has everything to do with acting and drama. I'm not saying that it's a 1:1 correlation with movies, but the pro wrestlers that are actually good at what they do actually do have to have at least a bit of a knack for that stuff.

I heard Alberto Del Rio will be playing Lando.

Well, he does have a lot more free time these days.

I heard a rumour months ago about something like this. You wouldn't know who was in the costume though and he/she would pick up with the whole hunting down Jedi bit and they would play up the mystery.

Honestly, I'm not surprised that an iconic costume that sells billions in merchandise every year is in this movie. The prequel trilogy allowed them to use the Vader image because it was about Anakin, with this they had to find another way.

As long as it's not Vader/Anakin raised from the dead I can see how it may work.

If they do do jedi ghost shit then they at the very least should bring back Hayden. I mean from what I remember he still looks as he did in the prequels.

Had a feeling something like this was going to happen - character is way too iconic for somebody like JJ to let go.

An impostor character running around will motivate a lot of characters in the story and adds some mystery bullshit to the whole proceedings.

I doubt it's going to be a flashback because it doesn't fit SW's style (I don't think they've ever done that).

Hey guyz, I've stumble upon the new actor for Darth Sidious/Palpatine.

This should have been first post.
I practically died to this

you guys are acting as if it matters who's in the fucking suit and required some amazing acting skills. dude just stands there.

You're talking to the kinds of people who think everything about Star Wars is crap except for half of episode V. You're wasting your time.

I'd pay to see the Darth Vader steal the Millennium Falcon, go to a Mexican restaurant, get the taco shits and just poop all over it.

Wait, he'd have to be the good guy to do that.

I think it would be wonderful if Luke is Batshit crazy, and we have a Terminator 2 Linda Hamilton/Arnold Arnold Schwarzenegger moment where he's in the heat of battle and he sees this tank walking directly at him and he freezes in his tracks.

I assume he'd be the one in the suit? I seriously doubt they'd replace him voice wise.

I also have a feeling it'll be flashbacks.

maybe vader never died? he just played some cheap parlor tricks on the world whilst killing his mentor, only to turn up at luke's 55th birthday to raze his house and bring balance to the dark side?

A fake Vader being used as a figure to keep Imperial forces (as well as certain systems) in line is not out of the question, nor is it probably nearly the worst thing that might come of the ST.

It's not my first choice though.

I see two potentially interesting possibilities:

1. Ghost Vader tormenting Luke
2. A Fake Vader to try and mess with Luke

Why would Vader torment Luke as a ghost after what he did/said in ROTJ?

This is really dumb if he is going to appear in the new movies. There's so much that Star Wars can do to expand the narrative and pulling in Vader again is kinda lame.

I don't know. Just trying to be positive. Maybe it's Luke having visions like in Empire?
